  • England is a prison. Prepare for the New World Order.

  • These pictures were taken during the preparations for the redevelopment of the scheme, so while it was a bad place to live it was and still isnt as bad as youd like to make out. Check it out change takes time!

  • This is normal in england what r u moaning about?

  • come on have a wee swatch at arnisdale road and kildermorie now all you pesimists ha ha see what we live in now ....

  • i was born in ervy street which is no longer there thank god....

  • lived in 149 easterhouse rd 1958-70,happy memories!!!

  • Oh the irony vote Labour and we will stand up for you. Just look at the environment they were supposed to have improved. What a farce, and what gullible people who vote for that dreadful party.

  • best city in the world proud to be glasweigan!!!!!!!!!!!

  • a seen ma old hoose :D x

  • Grim...outrageously grim! Why governments expect humans to live in these grey, dilapidated boxes is beyond me! All poiiticians are scum...they are part of the problem' and ought not be assumed as part of the solution'. They force those with little choice nor power to live in these environments; and then these politicians turn up, in your face, in order to garner your vote at the commencement of an election...simply lying and making false manifesto promises in order to acquire power! Grim...!

  • Stop your walloing in your self pity look at current affairs now and then. This is nada, go to Eastern Africa get your limbs choped off. Peru head first ? then the limbs? torso put on hooks your body fat drained and sold. Away with yourself wee dafties/neds. Government will laught all day long.

  • And we voted SNP....only to have them ban the happy hour....

  • wish i could get my hands on lefty coward who pushed bnp candidate

  • would be a nice place to bad about the neds though

  • i lived n wardie road moved bck home 2 belfast as belfast is a lot safer that was 1995 am sure its a lot better now x

  • labour did nothing for glasgow....ever,they are corrupt to the core

  • afrter '79 labour tried to defended us from the Tories as best they could..... while the SNP was delighted to have 'caused a rammy' and voted to get Thatcher elected .... there not called 'Tartan Tories', for nothing....how many "big banker" bonuses did Alex Salmond take, during his career as as neo/econimist???

  • THATS NO E/H THATS BAL TOI CRACK DEN

  • Rely on government to determine your fate and this is what you get.

  • Actually the flats at Easterhouse look far less grim than some of the sixties high rises and are on more of a human scale. However, they're now worn out and have suffered from problems with damp and vandalism.

  • the vast majority of them have been done up - same with cmilk, drumchapel etc.

they are actually not bad flats.

there was at one point over 250 tower blocks in Glasgow, more than half are set to be demolished within the next 10 years.

  • Decades of Labour in power, and this is what you get. Come election time they will be round telling you what they are going to do, they get in and then its more neglect.

  • Love the song but, Labour has to go.

  • I used 2 live on kildermorrie rd easterhoose in the 60 & 70s i luvd it , it wz a great place 2 live wen i wz young i really dont like the look of it now SHAME!

  • I used to live here, but this isn't a fair reflection of the state of the place, their the middle of demolishing it, that's why it looks so run down. Being the last scheme built its the last to come down, and the truth is it probably was the best looked after scheme in Easterhouse, mind you i'm biased.

  • Wouldn't it have been the first scheme to be built as I'm sure it was built in the fifties. Actually it was built on more of a human scale than horrors like the Red Rd Flats, but has suffered from social problems from day one.

  • used 2 stay in bal good wee scheme :D

  • I love Glaswegians and Glasgow is a great city, I only hope that Labour can reconnect with them and that Labour will win back their Glasgow East seat because this is red territory!

  • The problem is Labour is no longer a red party!

  • They seem to be doing alot of the houses up in Easterhouse but should they spend the money to do so for the scum to wreck them all over again?

False Mr Bigs put inside for a while.real Mr.Bigs live their selfish lives ..Friends and family keep dying .. some survive ..their children grow up into second/third generation Junkies

  • GLASGOW IS KING !!

  • mi bird livs in easturhoose

  • ive stayed in easterhoose my whole life stayed in agro bal drummy nd torran stil stiy in torran easterhoose is a shite whole but am proud tae stayy here:D

  • That area of Easterhouse was known as Bal-Toi. I used to goto a primary school there called St Scholasticas. Back in them days every house was occupied with nice gardens and weans playing everywhere. The area was nice and tidy and was one of the best areas of Easterhouse. I stayed in Aggro (Aberdalgie Rd) and I used to walk thru that area to get to school. During the 70s and 80s everyone was poor and didnt have much but we were all happy. I loved the place. Sad to see it this bad now.

  • I was born in Duntarvie Crescent (prior to the new-build programme) and I understood that, the only way out of this run-down, gone to the dogs area, was education. I simply applied myself thereof, and threw all my time into my studies!

The local politicians, no matter what they promise, do not give a damn about our run-down areas of Glasgow; in fact, it is because of them, that it has taken years for any improvement; and even these are superficial.

    Ebs. Doctor. London.

  • What song is this??

  • the reason the place ended up like a ghetto was, there were to many children, folk had big families in those days, there was no amenities for the kids to go to,you had the shopping centre or the ((buywell)as i still call it to hang about, that was about it.

  • aye it's a classic case of badly planned social engineering

  • stayed in buchlyvie path for 24 yrs , from 1964 to 1987, whe young it was a great place to stay but in the 80,s drink, drugs was out of control, you could not go to one end of easterhouse to another in fear of getting ur cunt kicked in, as you stayed in a diff gang area, in fact am glad i left and seen a bit of glasgow that was not a dump, stop kidding on folks the place is the pits i never thought of it that way until i had left for a few years,

  • I can remember playing in the street without any worries, no boarded up houses, no derilect buildings. I have stayed in shandwick st for my entire life its sad to see a once great area in ruins. Hopefully with the new building work and regeneration the area can become great again. 5*

  • Shafted by Thatcher, shafted again by Bliar and ignored by Tory Broon.

Lets hope FFS that the SNP can help the folk out.

    Alba gu Brath

  • what a disgrace, i was brought up in easterhouse on kildermorie road in fact . it did not always look like this, when i was a wean we were all outside playing in the summer and there was a real sense of community no houses were boarded up most of the gardens were nice . easterhouse has always been neglected though they just leave people out there to rot its a shame but i have some great memories of growing up there .

  • Its a fucking crying shame that in less than 15 minutes drive from most of these locations you'll find the HQ's of some of the most profitable companies in Europe. I love Glasgow and am ashamed that some of my fellow Glaswegians have to live in such shitholes.

  • NEWLABOUR BASTARDS

  • This is so powerfull thank you, the end brought tears to my eyes, music also.

I left along time ago, but my heart still belongs. The urge to returm is so strong but only can view from a distance & GG board. Thank you so much. Everyone deserves better!

  • Cmon glasgow east - please have the courage to send a message to Labour. Its not about talking the east end down like curran claims - we just know it can be much much better.

  • Vote for John Mason. Vote SNP on July 24th. It's time the east end of Glasgow had a better future free from labour and with an MP who whould actually stand up for them and will put the peoples intrests first and stand up to Gordon Brown and his useless government!!

  • vote for labour, vote for more neglect

  • Absolutely.
