This was released on the United Artist label for "A Hard Day's Night". Parlaphone, which was released in the US did not include these George Martin instrumentals. I saw a Japanese United Artists recording for 28.00 US Dollars and said No Way! Looking back, I think that was a mistake. This music is indeed timeless.
This tune is my all time favorite. If you lived South Florida back in the early 1960's you might have heard the last refrain on channel 4. They used it as station identification background music while a sailboat slowly crossed a setting sun over Biscayne bay.
As a young boy I wanted to be on that sailboat. And I finally did. As an adult what a great experience
it was to listen to this beautiful piece while sailing across the Bay at sunset.
This is on my album that I bought in 1964. Back then I played it over and over and over, and could still do the same today. Absolutely beautiful music...
Ah, yes! The instrumental version of "And I Love Her", which appeared on the severely abriged U.S. version of the "Hard Day's Night" soundtrack. That and the "Help!" Soundtrack in its U.S. version are not as enjoyable as the U.K. versions, insofar as they left off all the non-film songs, and padded out the film songs with bits from the incidental (orchestral) score. But this is a FINE version of the song, nonetheless.
Hey, I have this song on a record too, but the record is called, "The Beatles A Hard Day's Night." I love this song, this is definitely a priceless jewel! (Sorry the other one has a typo)

@hualni I totally agree man. What a waste. We should start sending letters to the recording house that produced this jewel and tell them that it's about time they get it on CD.
@kelyoph This jewel appeared on the original United Artists Records release of the Beatles' soundtrack for "A Hard Day's Night." (UA got the album because its parent studios released and distributed the film.) It wove the Beatles' performances with the instrumental versions George Martin arranged---though this one wasn't actually used in the film. Capitol Records eventually did reissue this configuation on CD, though I don't know it it's still in print . . .
@EasyAce I never saw a legitimate CD release, not in America. The Soundtracks were released in Russia as 2-CD sets, of all things. I always wondered why we didn't get them here?
This is definitely the soundtrack to standing in fine eveningwear with your lover, on the balcony of a posh hotel party in Rio de Janeiro or Macau, sipping something cool in the warm night air. Palm trees and little homes are but black shapes against the blue sea. Little boats are just specks lost in the blanket of sparkling moonlight on the water. The song flows out like silk from a tiny transistor radio just inside the door. I hope I can experience that with someone someday...
I first heard this on the front proch of Barbra Wagners hose in Blackstone Virginia. Summer nites with a 2 speaker phonograph. Billy Robertson, Covington La
Jose Feliciano has a instrumental version of this song which is also very good. There is another singer named Roberto Carlos whom also sings this song very , very good! The name of the song I believe is: "Yo te amo"
I was listening to this on the beatles "Hard Days Night" movie sound track. It's on the 1'st side. I loved it so much i connected it to my pc and downloaded it.
When the Beatles came to town in 1965, the local station played all Beatle songs. I had my reel-to-reel recording every song. The DJ introduced this as Hollyridge Strings. My recording wasn't very good so I've been searching for a replacement under Hollyridge Strings !!! Thanks for setting me straight
This arrangement is hauntingly beautiful. I first heard it over 45 years ago at age 11. I have never forgotten it. George Martin is so gifted. Is he still with us?
@Marianne3428 Sir George is alive and well at age 85. He and his wife were recently seen at a Stella McCartney fashion show in London. According to his web site, Sir George doesn't do any music producing anymore but is still active on the board of directors of the company he founded (Associated Independent Recordings or AIR), and still enjoys wrapping himself around a dry martini on occasion.
Thank you, thank you for posting this - when they re-released the soundtrack they left this off, and it's one of my favorite cuts - been looking for it for years...
@BADBIKERBENNY Yard sale? wow! It's probably worth something. I've found beatle albums at yard sales before. People don't know what they're throwing away.
dont ask why.... this one for me alone

The Karaoke version that guitarists can use comes from this. I hear the percussion parts all over it. All the guitarist does is add the melody.
