  • Don't think that will increase your pullup numbers by adding weight, as long as you can do pullups for more than 1 minute

    strength and endurance are 2 completely different things

    When you are going for number usually it is endurance...really the only way to increase pullups is to DO PULLUPS

    a ton of the band pullups might do the trick to hit the slow twitch muscle fibers

  • The only people I've ever seen using a band for assistance work with pullups are girls. If you want to increase your pull up strength then do 50 pull ups throughout your back workout in whatever reps you can manage. You don't add weight to your pull up when you cant do over 10 on your own.

  • 7 pull ups is a lot more than the average person can do if they have not been practicing or have never done them before. I joined the Marine Corps and could only do 7, I have been to PT on Thursdays 4 times now and I am already up to 10. Just because you can do more than him doesn't mean you have to discourage him, 7 pull ups is a decent amount for anyone, I have seen a lot of people who cannot complete 1 pull up...

  • You need to keep your legs either straight down under you or crossed and bent behing you. You might need to work on your core strength to do that. Don't swing your legs like in the video.

    Your "unders" as you call them are a waste of time. Watch some videos of good form online and try again.

  • You need to work on your form. Do smaller sets with better form for a more effective workout.

  • Pushing the legs out in front of you just means you are making your pull-ups easier. Doing them with your legs straight down would be better.
