stock gears r 2.93 in the 96 auto gt.. horrific, i know i have one

@7gabe0mike7 auto 96 gt's are available with either 2.73 gears or 3.27's were optional from ford

@zackomac, 96-98 cobras were 4.6's, but were DOHC as opposed to SOHC like the GT. that along with a few other nice features from SVT had the Cobra pushing well over 85 more horse than the GT, which put out the same as the old pushrod 5.0, 215 with 290 ft/lbs of torque. in short, the Cobra would blow the doors off a GT.

i have a 96 mustang gt with an auto tranny and in the differential tag it says 3L27 does this mean it has 3.27 gears? did 96 mustangs came with 3.27 from factory????????

@cobraj7 this is my friends car, so i'm not sure if 3L27 means 3:27... You can do a google search on diff ratios and key in the number for that tag number... If I can find a link i'll send it to you...

Either way, it looks like it was kept nice and clean and driven like a mustang should be :)

Love the sound. i have a 96 gt w/ flowmasters. i'll have to get the side exhaust someday. i want a cowl hood first. already have everything bbk and pi heads/intake, pulleys, cold air, polyurethene bushings, 17x10 rear chrome cobra R's 17x8 front, 3:55 w/ auto trans up to Mach-1 specs cause they like to go at 100,000( watch the power brakes :)

@mikesfastgt . I havent dynoed it yet but its fast. Just installed 150 hp shot of nos in it in june 2010. If I get traction its in the 12's all day. A Z06 vette cried when I tree'd "em and took him all the way to 130! then I let off and let him pass. The guy must have been 85 yerars old and was giving me the stink eye. Best part was it was in front of the chevy dealership were I work!
