  • this is so stupid. ya im sure a 5970 skips like that, lol, come on, im sure the guy who made this video works for nvidia.

  • For all you retards here!! this is a tesselation demo and the 5000 serie was BAD at tesselation!! IDIOTS!! the 6000 series is good at it so was nvdias 400 series back than allready.............. so do not start hating but fucking learn somethiing before you post stupid comments you newbies! damn you!

  • fake

  • ATI forever!!!

  • LOL, when I first saw this, I thought it said 9970! I nearly shit a brick.

  • nabz dont cry,1st of all trub didint lie, second HD5970 aint slower u see just microstutter, its dual gpu setup problem,if single card will have 24 fps it will be playable but if the HD5970 will have 24 fps it will be lagging stuttering...

  • Wow. I used to trust trubritar until this outrage. You expect us to believe that the GTX 480 rapes the 5970, AND when GTX 480 say 17FPS it's still silky smooth?!

  • HD 9970 OC ^_^

  • @AeroFix94 No. I thought that too but if you look very closely, it's just a wierd five.

  • @ItsTheChief117 hmm ok

  • fake

  • lol look at nvidia

17 fps and it moves like it has 30-40

    this is fake :/

  • i have 5870 in trifire (ie 3 cards crossfired) and the microstuttering is AWFUL! some games its fine (sc2 for example) some its ok but far from perfect (black ops) and some software makes 100fps look like 20fps (heaven 2.5)

  • Lol at a dual GPU card pulling less power than a single gpu card. fermi fail.

  • There has to be something wrong here. Your 5970 is stuttering like crazy and there's no way a single GPU 480 is faster than it when the 480 can't beat the single GPU 5870 in the Crysis loop. The 5970 should easily beat the 480 with one GPU tied behind it's back.

  • Multi GPU cards have problems with micristuttering.

    I had 4870x2 , then GTX295...

Now with 5870 i can finally play games smooth!

    Multi gpus are for benchmarks!

  • @danthemanzizzle AMD GPU´s aren´t that good in tessalation as Nvidia cards and in this benchmark tessalation is really required :)

Sorry for my bad english , I hope you could understand me xD

  • This is a very nice viedo, how i know HD 5970 is dual GPU card and seems wery inpossible to gtx 480 beat this one, once is proven that dual GPU s is not good balanced and it's much better to combine single gpu in sli or crosfire. Nice job gtx 480.... :p

  • Well i'll lose 5 fps for 100 watts any day.

  • How can a 5870 beat the 480GTX in this test then a 5970 loose to a 480 GTX ?? These internet tests are flawed and people are not correct..

  • @Dorisequador a gtx 480 its 10-15 percent faster than a 5870, a 5970 gaming its faster than a 480, in this video 480 wins because its much faster in scenes whit extreme tesselation than 5000 series, actualy a 480 stils a bit faster than a 6970 in unigine heaven

  • @cobrastomas I do not believe you hahaha

I have seen the 5870 play games I am really impressed so smooth and perfect.

Mind you I do own Nvidia and love it but it's not as responsive at ATI cards for fast turns when fighting unless you turn the gravey down.

  • @cobrastomas

Have you seen the Crysis loop video? The 5870 is faster.

  • This is bollocks, this benchmark is as confused as Justin Bieber!

  • Just look at how twitchy the ATI card is compared to the 480, yea its getting a decent amount of FPS, 480 is getting more. But the 480 is able to smooth everything out.

  • can't see a fucking deffrence. It looks like ati is better , but i got Nvidia can a serious graphics ner tell me wich is best?

  • @ianpettersson96

ati card has 50% weaker gpus, to compensate they realesed a dual gpu card.... that is huge and inconvenient and might not fit in your rig. Also id say nvidia has better drivers. but its just a matter of personal taste. In this test or benchmark, nVidia gtx 480 won by a mile because when benchmarking graphics cards what matters is Fps. I would choose nvidia

  • @ianpettersson96 its about the FPS. lawl epic battle of the FPS GODS!!!

  • This was proven a long time ago that Nvidia overpowered ATI with this benchmark!

  • i dont think that this benchmark its okay, if you like more nvidia than ati its your choice but ati 5970 its better than 480

  • @argentinodiegomarado but it got crushed in the vid!!!

  • why r'nt nvidia making smthin like 5970

  • @JackRyson

    GTX 580 SC = Radeon 5970

  • @exon576 You seem more correct 580GTC oc = a 5970 XFX special edition oc.

  • Get the feeling ATi doesn't like the heaven benchmark.

  • Comment removed

  • @willeyboy2 : fail comment, GPUZ displays the memory dedicated to each GPU, this card has 2 GPUz with 1028mb dedicated to each one. Hope this helps you understand!

    Have a happy holiday...

    Trub

  • @trubritar ow. sorry trub. didn't know that. thanks.

  • @trubritar HEVEN HAS GEARS OF WAR GRAPHICS.thumbs up if you agree

  • @willeyboy2 pwnd.

  • @willeyboy2 Get the idea, theres two of em.

  • What people don't understand is that some games or engines are enhanced for nVidia cards because the creators were paid by nVidia to do so. That's why most games perform better on an ATI card but some will always perform better on nVidia.

  • ati lag XD nvidia wins (Y)

  • lol just tesselation are in extreme stop lie the 5970 ownd the GTX 580 in every game

  • @cuzz26740 believe it.

  • wtf?? Ati wins in crysis, but not in This??

  • @lorin1996 it is whole new thing! called DirectX 11 :)

  • @N3KROTSOYLA Why be mad? It is just for reference?

  • Who the hells play a game with extreme tessellation???

  • @hickon323

    Nvidia users :D

  • @Wurzelzwerg1212 Agree

  • i dont think ati is great,my ati hd mobil. 5470 runs 3dmark 06 at first graphic test only at 6 ~8 FPS but NVidia 8600 GT have 20~25 FPS at the graphic test. (I,m not Nvidia fanboy)

  • lol this can be correct. ati hd 5970 is faster than gtx 480, and i got even much better results with sapphire radeon hd 6870 and 4 gb ram and amd phenom ii 1090t 6 core standard clock. average fps was 24

  • This videos is so full of shit...

  • hate the amd drivers too.

my friend has an ati card and it is failing big time.

he got stripes on the screen everytime he starts the pc and it has been offf for a long time.

then after a restart his screen is ok again:)

and i couldnt find a option in the catalyst menu to customize resolutions ..

and thats gonna be a problem with my plasma screen ,it has a high customized resolution.

even my old nvidea 7950gt could do that shit.

so amd/ati really has crappy drivers.

  • @ImmortalUniverse I go for affordable to power. I might invest on one if there is a great game that needs those kind of graphic card. (Which means they most probably made too many polys)

  • Comment removed

  • relay strange. i use a hd 5850 and i can get higher fps with max tes and without oc. Did you use an old driver for this video?

  • no question here, but Nvidia is expensive!

  • this is lie!

  • @vilepium

    No this is the truth!

  • @vilepium no it isn't!

  • i agree with ZaaG "Nvidia with Intel, ATI with AMD"

  • it's just a damn benchmark which forces people get a 480 instead of 5970. but anyway, i'd go for 580/480 due to better support with modern technology.

  • okay but what about games ? can N ge 280 beat ati 5970? because who have 5970 play soo well it's like having very powerfull dog in your backyerd while 280 like good dog but u can't sleep safley knowing thats guarding ur backyrad in the next couple of years

  • to get best performance, you have to match AMD with ATi and Intel with Nvidia. U cannot compare AMD with Intel. It will not performace as it expected. Ati is designed to combined with AMD

  • i dont see why some one would get the gtx 480 just because it benchmarks well but sucks in games like crysis with a mere hd 5870

  • the only thing getting work nvidia is phyx and thats about it nothing else

  • ATI HD5000 are less optimized to Tesselation, but in other hand this engine was better optimized for nvidia, and as stated before, it uses CUDA, this offers a massive advantage for Nvidia.

  • Laggy ATI shaite...nVidia FTW!! Allways!

  • jep the 480 is better with dx11

  • Its Funny how on most benchmarks Ati 5970 wins...Except this one. How strange....

  • lol@ ati!

  • MUHAHHAHAAAA what a lie. Nvidia with this lie chase customers. Most I hate to lie me.

  • There is something very wrong with this video. I have benchmarked both the gtx480 and the 5970 on my system with stock settings. The 480 averaged 27.1fps and the 5970 averaged 27.6fps (both at stock clock speeds).

  • Also, anyone who knowns anything about computers would be aware that the Heaven engine was written specifically FOR nvidia cards and hence they have a massive advantage over ATI cards. Specifically it uses lots of CUDA calls and heavy tessellation. ATI cards aren't allowed to use CUDA patented technology (hence the jerky looking movement due to lower accuracy floating point numbers) and don't have a special tessellation core made to work very in this EXACT benchmark.

    Use a real benchmark. eugh.

  • Why 5970's 20 fraps is laggy but 480's 20 fraps doesn't?

  • @Ian0073040 I think it maybe cause of: - multi gpu microstutter, or maybe that ATI handles very bad tesselation

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • @TheBlackhawk515 I'm sorry man but the 5970 is a 2GB card, lag is caused just by one of the two facts I stated on my first post

  • Comment removed

  • @manyalforever Lag is caused by the fact this engine requires the use of CUDA calls the calculate the position of the camera. Since ATI can't use CUDA the camera appears to move jerkily. This would never happen in a real game, as any game that exclusively used CUDA calls for camera movement would NOT sell or perform well.

  • @malticdesign I dont understand, camera movement can be done so easly by CPU, its just some transformations on a 4x4 matrix man.

It is possible that CUDA helps to calculate something.. anyways I think this benchmark is nVidia friendly :P

  • @manyalforever Yes, camera movement SHOULD be done by the CPU, but since this benchmark was bought by nVidia to test CUDA while they develop it all the camera movements need CUDA to precisely calculate camera positions (other wise you only get half as accurate FP number transformations).

In a fair comparison he 5970 would demolish a 480 at lower core temperatures. But it costs more and has buggier drivers, so its a trade-off.

  • Comment removed

  • Mine would average about -27 fps lol

  • I have a 5970 abd I get alot more then the one in this video and a little more than the 480

  • radeon stutters

  • well every where other than this video 5970 easily rapes a gtx480 and then asks taking a cold breath did I have to do anything i dont know if u have high quality coversion running in background or somethong other is wrong with that ati system but this video is a sure fanboy stuff and even nvidia says competor of 5970 is gtx580

  • Comment removed

  • I'm still waiting for 200fps + in every single game on earth. Until then, cya.

  • The configurations not are identic :l 0:20

  • 480 is NOT a bang for your buck! id pick even a 6970 anyday!

  • ATi take it from behind xD

  • lulz @ the atifags trying to defend their worthless card saying "hes not usin duh rite one!11 ati stil superior!!!!"

  • omg just loled reading all thoes comments

  • This test isn't right... the 5970 beats a 480. It also uses 300W at load - comparable to the 480.

You must be using something like a 5770 instead.

  • take a look to the total system load... its a 5870, a 5970 would need a LITTLE BIT more power

  • 1x 5970 is not 2x 5870 !

1x 5870x2 is ~ 2x 2870 when u know what i mean. in this video u can see, that the ATI card is not able to render the tesselation.

  • So 1 Nvidia card owns 2 ATI cards? wow suck on that fanboys :D

  • @zaphr89

    1. The 5970 is a single card multi GPU solution.

    2. The GTX480 pulls 100w more for at most 15fps more

    3. As far as I'm aware ATI havent announced anything about tesselation running well on their cards.

  • YES YES TESSELATION ( FERMI WIN !!! )

  • Sorry about ati 5970 ''/

  • ati just displayd the defonition of word LAGFEST

  • Superclocked

  • What is "SC" in "GTX 480 SC"?

  • GTX 480 SC is stock clocked gpu, basically not overclocked. @TheVoidMain

  • and nvidia is better in tense situations

btw what song is at the end of the video??? xD

  • nvidia runs very smooth

  • now try with 10.10a catalyst ;)

  • So.. Nvidia is better in directX 11 ??

  • for all the ati fanboys:

    1. it doesnt say 9970. put it in 1080p and you'll see 5970.

    2. SC stands for super clocked.

    3. 5970 wins in dx10 but has no chance in dx11 with 480s.

    4. check any test with unigine heaven and nvidia is always 1st.

  • ati 5870-5970=past their time!

  • @carlhil2

    Lol sup fanboy

  • The gtx seems to have the edge in smoothness and colour quality.

  • this test is shit :D "HD 9970" and wtf, what means "gtx 480 SC"

  • @Purom4r4 You obviously can't see :P. Just look closer and you will see that it says 5970. And "SC" stands for superclocked.

  • nvidia fanboy

  • omg..2xhd5970 vs 1xGTX480 and the GTX480 win..ROFl :D:D

  • author of these benches, always make ati worse in his videos.

  • look at the watt consumption.. a single card using more then a dual card.. also let's see the heat difference. I would have never bought an ATI card before the 5000 series, but lets face it.. ATI won the whole 2009-2010 era.

  • @rsman169 i had 2x5970 and sold them to get 2x480 this is a MUCH better config BUT!! the heat from these things are mental.

The price for perforance i spose

  • The world will implode when they release a three processor GPU and every core being faster then a GTX 480 core.

  • HD 9970 this video fuckin fails

  • wow ati is very lagging

  • @MOVIEMAKINGmyself the power consumption is much lower though, not sure if this makes a big difference at all, I'm still a n00b to this whole computer world.. not an über-n00b but still kinda new at this lol

  • @MOVIEMAKINGmyself nope just nvidia are liars.

  • How is it that 5970 overkills 480 in the Crysis benchmark while Nvidia has the edge here almost all of the time, sometimes even 2:1.

Is this because of the tessellation?

Are game dev gonna use this technology?

  • ATi pwned! Pretty f****n lame 4 ATi considering that they have dual gpu and even more, concerning the price. 480 is almost 200$ cheaper.

  • wow a single GPU from Nvidia fucking kicked ATI's DUAL GPU card... that is pretty fucking sad for ATI.

  • hmm now with 2.1, my 5970 OC at 881mhz core clocl gets 28.5 fps on cc 10.8, so it got better with drivers

  • 53 ati fanboys cud not handle the truth

  • Something is not right. It only lists 1024 MB of ram for the 5970 which we know has 2048MB, so I think this video is not accurate.

  • @lenfert4 Hi there, have you ever used GPUZ?

  • @trubritar Literally just downloaded it after watching this video and I now understand that it doesn't add up the total ram for multi-gpu configurations.

  • @lenfert4 So the video is accurate then???

  • Heaven 2.0 use high level of tesselation, HD 5970 is more powerfull than GTX 480 but not in tesselation processes...Try GTX 480 vs HD 6870 and see the difference in heaven 2.0..

  • @trubritar i think it shows clearly that nvidea is king of high settings and tesselation.

ati will run fast if you run in dx 10 mode and forget about tesselation.

so i guess Nvidea still is master.

  • Comment removed

  • @lenfert4 the memory is mirrored. Each gpu has 1024mb of vram

its like when you sli 2 gb vram cards, it is not 2gb total, it still uses 1, basically same thing.

  • @lenfert4 Ya he's using a 5670 DDR5 1 gig card..probably no 5970 stutters on this test at all.

  • @lenfert4 No its fine, it shows 1024MB ram, because the 5970 is actually two 5870 chips with two 1024MB partitions which are bridged to work in crossfire (same as sli on nvidia) the dual GPU nvidia cards show up the same way in GPUZ. U will notice that SLI or CrossfireX is showing as enabled, also the cpu is overclocked to 3541Mhz and right before the Crossfire, its showing the driver version being used. Ciao.

  • slideshow bei gleicher fps... komisch..

  • slideshow bei gleicher fps... komisch

  • nvidia 4 ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • ati still kicks ass :p

  • NVIDIA FTW

  • left-its mean to be playd

    right-its mean to be lagfest

  • Nice trick that can make 5970 looks idiot like this

  • hd 9970 oc? xD

  • @SticK2oo9

    :D:D:D

  • its probably fraps. everyonce in a while, i get errors in fraps and it doesnt show the correct FPS

  • lol 1 fermi chip uses 100w more than 2 ATI chips... let's wait for the 6000 series to come, I bet its going to pwn nVidia's ass ( im not a fanboy)

  • gtx 480 looks very tasty i want to eat it :D

  • I smell fake. at 2:17 480 is looking like 60Fps and ati like 10 even though the framerate is exactley the same. And how that 1 5870 destroyes 480 in 3dmark but 2 5870 are so easly beaten in heven ? This guy should make his mind about beeing ati or nvidia fanboy.

  • @terorvlad its cuz this bench uses tesselation which nvidia has optimised their cards to do... ati hasnt yet.

  • @aninjainatree But how can you explain that the 480 is looking like 60Fps and ati like 10 even though the framerate is exactley the same

  • @terorvlad How retarded, how about being objective? Only a fanboy would think choosing a side is a must.

Aninjainatree just explained just that, can't you read? Fermi is optimized for Tesselation, ATI isn't hench the microstutters and ATI cards in general have microstutters (I own a ATI-card so don't try your fanboyism on me).

Retards should be banned from internet.

  • quais as resoluções ?

  • I have a stock ASUS 480 GTX.

    Pros:

    - Great card, maxes first crysis at 8XQAA, all maxed 1920 x 1080 at over 40 fps

    - Provides heat during winter.

    Cons:

    - ALOT of noise (upgrading to Icy Vision cooler (60$ value))

    - Very hot! Maxed without OC in Furmark at 94c!

I'm running it with a Q6600 OC to 2.94 and 4gb of DDR2 1066 OC to around 1160 I think... Great card if your going to play latest games!

OMG DUAL GPU 5970 CANT BEAT A SIGNE 480? HOW EMBARASSING (Max tessalation tho lol)

  • @Aspect2010 lol provides heat during winter? if its winter and your computer is producing that much heat i wouldnt say that is a good thing :P

  • @mattmachin08 Yeah that's the con ... seriously the card idles at 65?! Wtf my old 9800GTX+ never topped 65 at max usage... I'm buying the vf3000f cooler pretty soon and that should solve everthing.

  • omg see the difference at 2:16 check gtx 480 it runs perfect bu 5970 got some lag...
