  • BEAUTIFUL SONG. SOME WOULD SAY THAT THIS IS CORNY BUBBLE GUM MUSIC BUT I LOVE IT

  • I bought this in 1969 by Andy Kim on Steed records. He is lip syncing it in a later TV show in the early 80s.

  • Comment removed

  • Anybody notice a resemblance to John Travolta, or at least to Vinnie Barbarino?

  • hes lip syncing his 1970 hit, this looks about 1986,,. good tune tho..

  • college days.... popular song...

  • ahhhh, the timeless mullet

  • Going down memorie lane

  • Awesome~!~!~

  • I remember this song on fm radio way back in 1969.

  • I remember this one when it was new. Good girlfirend makeout music. Andy was an important part of my past, and it sounds good today.

  • The Ronettes version RULES. The Ramones version always got on my nerves. For some reason I always had a soft spot in my heart for this cheesy version. Even with its Roller Rink Organ.

  • This tune is a guilty pleasure!!!

  • Genial, das waren die Siebziger. Könnt ich immer wieder hören.

  • One of my all time favorites....and always will be

  • This is also my first big love song. I remember every moment while in the back of my parents V.W. Van with my love of my life. I married him and had a gorgeous daughter with him. Sadly we were stupid and split up. Still the love of my life though all these years later.

  • A terrific songwriter and a wonderful singer!

  • The best version!! Brings back some great memories

  • Wow, Baby I Love You!!!

  • those were the days, my HS days....and still loving...nice song..

  • He really made this song his own. Totally great, i love it more than the Ronettes original which is surprising! I do love Andy Kim though. Rock Me Gently is one of my favorite songs hahaa.

  • He always has to be the headliner, big ego

  • Actually, Andy had many hits in Canada and has a Greatest Hits CD available minus one of his very best tunes...Rainbow Ride . It's a glaring omission from an otherwise outstanding disc !

  • Seeing Andy tonight actually. Won the tickets on a radio show yesterday. Pretty excited.

  • Luvy dovey..Nah.nahh nah...♪♫♫♪They just don't write em the way they used to..Sigh..

  • Found out just recently my cousin was married to his cousin years ago. I remember meeting her when they came down one summer to visit, but it was something like 35 years ago.

  • love this song.........Happy 60th Bruce.......YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE.LOL.

  • the mullet is hilarious

    but great song

  • Skating at the rink to this song...

    and Telstar.

  • Wonderful love song by Andy, great.

  • Baby I Love You, Andy Kim,

  • I always enjoyed this song - his mullet and those clothes make it even betterer - and All the versions of this song are good, for me, it depends on my mood but I've never turned off any of them when they play on the radio - Enjoy!

  • I just love this song very much of Andy. Kept listening to it...

  • @victoria4043 I heard on CFRB In Toronto he's playing here! Too bad I can't travel.

  • Hi prettymom, oh i can't go there, i live in europe, vienna, austria.

  • I Love this song very much, Andy's version

  • Perfect pop! Love it.

  • Iv'e Always Loved This Song!!! 5*s Thankyou....Anita...

  • Another lovely love song..

  • Brother of Gene Simmons

  • lol

  • Woo Hoo now that's a fucking mullet and a half!

  • LMAO!!

  • Help me here!!!!!!!!! was he or was he not the singer on Sugar Sugar?

For goodness sake out this matter to rest once and for all.

  • I believe the lead singer for the ARCHIES was Ron Dante. He sang Sugar Sugar

  • evannyny thanks so much for sorting that out.I read he was then he wasn't.Thanks a lot.

  • True story. I was once working at a retail store. Around 1975-1981. A customer gave me his credit card for the purchase. The card said,

Ronald Dante. So when I saw the card, I said to him, are you the singer for the Archies? He said, YES, and I could tell he was shocked. The Archies were basically a studio group, so I don't think too many people knew the name of their lead singer. A few years ago, I saw an oldies show in NYC; 2 of the featured artists were Andy Kim and Ron Dante.

  • great song brings back alot of good times. to charles and donna rest in peace.

  • That is one great looking suit coat! That is sweet!

  • the audience doesnt seem impressed... dicks

  • I agree... It's hard to find a lamer audience on youtube

  • OMGosh! Classic oldie teenage heart song. But the lyrics are timeless.

    Thanks for posting. :=)))

Ahh.... sweet memories of my first real love 35 years ago. Where did the time go and why did it go so fast?

  • @Kismet12333 I Know!!

  • @Kismet12333 - I felt the same way, but my young teenage heart was WISHING I had a girl to share this song with, lol. Thanks for sharing your memories. Music really does have a strong hold on our memories, doesn't it?

  • geeez Andy.... why the long ace?

  • hilarious :)

  • "Sugar, Sugar", WAS written by Jeff Barry and Andy Kim. To correct an earlier posting.

  • Someone went a little overboard on the fog effects. Got a chuckle towards the end when the fog starts to block audience from seeing Andy Kim, and some woman, I think, looks over at her partner, probably saying,. "The fog, its too thick. I can't see him singing. Hey, I can't see you." Ha ha ha!!1

  • He's 16 here???? Looks 30ish!!

  • He and Patrick Moraz from Yes and the Moody Blues could be brothers.

  • Does anyone remember this Recording Artist by the name of Jerry Woo?

  • This show is from the mid 80s.

  • Is this a cover andy is doing?

  • furchtbares Geträllere!!!!!

  • WOW Andy was way ahead of his, our time with that Mullet haircut.

    I didn't have a Mullet until the mid 1980s!

  • This song was originally recorded by The Ronnettes in 1964. They had recorded "Be My Baby" which was also a hit for Andy Kim. This version of "Baby, I Love You" was a hit for him in 1969, the same year he co-wrote the song, "Sugar, Sugar". His biggest hit that he ever recorded was 'Rock Me Gently" which went to #1 in 1974.

And, yes, he IS lip-syncing to his original version.

  • This song is from 1968.I remember it all to well.Reminds me of an old boyfriend that dumped me.I thought my life was over.

  • If he's not lip syncing then when where is his band? What about the back up vocalists? He's certainly not singing their part. This is the original studio recording and not a live version.

  • I know he is a legend in Canada. I am from Canada. I also know the song is from the late 1960s as I used to listen to it on Oldies 1310 in Ottawa. But if you look at his face, his hair and the set it looks like this video was recorded in the 1980s. It wasn't unusual for '60s artists to lip sync their old songs back then.

  • This lip synched performance would appear to be from the mid-1980s outside North America.

If anyone has details please enlighten.

Don't get me wrong. I like this song. It just seems so out of place in that setting.

  • This was a One Song Man. The song was too popular and everybody was signing it. I believe it was the 70's.

When you have a good song like this one it kills you almosr instantly. Maybe that's why he changed his name.

  • Hello Ve2so

Andy recorded the music Amour, as Baron Longfellow Beautiful music too

  • @ve2so ANDY HAD SEVERAL HITS YOU NEED TO READ UP ON HIM HE WAS ALSO BARRON LONGFELLOW HE JUST RELEASED A NEW CD LAST JUNE

  • @ve2so "One Song Man"????? Are you kidding me? "Rock Me Gently", "Fire, Baby (I'm On Fire)", "Rainbow Ride", "Go It Slow", "Shoot 'Em Up Baby", "How'd We Ever Get This Way".......not to mention he co-wrote "Sugar, Sugar" with Jeff Barry.

  • @ve2so What a bewildering & inaccurate set of comments. First, Andy Kim wasn't a "One Song Man". He had a bunch of hits, including "So Good Together (#36 US), "Be My Baby" (#17 US), & "Rock Me Gently" (#1 US). Second, this song being a hit didn't "kill him" at all. He continued to have a good career after this for many years. And third, he didn't change his name to hide from this song. Andy Kim & Baron Longfellow were just stage names, that's all.

  • @ve2so

I have tears as soon as I hear this song. My first love will live within my heart forever. How powerful is music? It can cast you back the 70's when you were young and in deep true love for the first time. Those memories become so totally clear as soon as you the song. Thank you for loving me SHS. You taught me how a woman should be treated and loved. Thank you Knight of My Heart!!!!

  • @ve2so Please don't talk about something you obviously know nothing about. Andy Kim had 7 songs on the top 40, and 12 in the top 100, and is rated in the top 500 artists of all time.

  • @ve2so Yea…I had the 45. Great production compared to the Ronettes. BTW, it was late 60’s, maybe 68-69

  • @ve2so a one song man? He had quite a few hits... Rock Me Gently being his biggest.

  • He still signs under another name. But I don't remember it.

  • andy was gettin jiggy wit it way b4 will smith

  • Just a beautiful sexy song, they don't make 'em like this anymore!

  • Helivz said "Very kewl tune, at a very kool time in my life. The year: 1969. Bright, hot, warm and sunny days of summer gone by. Forever gone, but forever etched in the eternity of my heart!"

    I echo that sentiment!!

  • I love this song!!

  • Castanets start at 1:04.

So many memories of when I was kid in the sixties.

    Sigh...

  • If you like this version( which I don't) ,you'll love the original...!!!

This is Spector sans the wall of of sound

  • I like the Ronettes but I think this version is much better.

  • that's your opinon,dappy... and I respect it

  • If he only knew what he was doing to us teenage girls going thru puberty at the time of these.Omg raging hormones lol. Thanks for the memories Andy..,rock on,and BABY WE LOVE YOU!

  • OMG! I WANT YOU.

  • This song reminds me so much of when I was a child. I'm only 25, but when your dad plays records like these greats, it's hard not to love this kind of music. This was my favorite song of all. Memories I will never forget.

  • This song was great to roller skate to at the rink - maybe better than Telstar!

  • I Love this!

  • Isn't it a shame that there will never be great songs like this released anymore?

  • Ditto. Very kewl tune, at a very kool time in my life. The year: 1969. Age: 8. Interests: bicycling, fishing, eating watermelon, Reeses Peanut Butter cups, red licorice, and water balloon fights! Bright, hot, warm and sunny days of summer gone by. Forever gone, but forever etched in the eternity of my heart!

  • He looks like Englebert!

  • LOL!! He does!!

  • hahaha :-D

  • i was thinking of Gene Simmons from Kiss

  • Die Klamotten wirken heute komisch, aber Augen zu und ich schmelze zum Schmusesong dahin, sooo schön :-))

  • All together now...

  • Retornei, sempre a ouço; obrigaduuu

  • I just heard on the Bill Carroll radio Show(1010 CFRB Toronto Can) that this years Christmas show is now SOLD OUT!. AWESOME!!! 2 weeks to go and it's SOLD OUT!!

  • I NEED OXYGEN

  • Hello

Congratulations , Andy is the fantastic singer.

I have a autograph him too.

  • Andy kissed me yesterday in hamilton i got pix and autograph of set list lolomg

  • i remember when this first came out weeeeeeeeee

  • Let's sing.

  • Linda, não fazem mais canções como esta....

  • Oba, mais um brasileiro por aqui. Concordo, tanto a musica que é maravilhosa, como Andy kim que é um ser humano sensacional

  • Ronettes first did it...The Ramones also did it...but IMO, Mr. Kim trumps it...

  • It was originally recorded by the Ronettes.

  • The song is called 'Baby, I Love You'.

  • I want to use this as my wedding song

  • Ditto. I heard this song way back in June / July of 1969 when I was just a lad of eight. Soon, this tune will be forty years old. Some songs get better with the passing of time.

  • I think the A Flock of Seagulls guy got the idea for hair from this dude...

  • This is my favorite version of this song. Better than the original in my opinion. When I heard it as a teenager it was so beautiful it would make me tear up. Peace.

  • This was the first song I heard after the army showed up next door to inform his folks that their son had been killed in Vietnam, life was never the same after that... R I P, LOUIS.....

  • Check out the Ramones with Phil Sector for a different take. Agreed I love this as well

  • essa musica foi gravada en versao portrugues pelo cantor LUIS CARLOS MAGNO no Brazil com o titulo EU TE ADORO e foi um sucesso.

  • for sissy & johnny mike!!!

  • I met Andy about 4 years ago, when I 20. He was super nice to me and signed everything I asked him to. Sometimes when you meet musicians you wish you had never met them, Andy was 100% positive.

  • Andy Kim wrote for the Beatles? Are you nuts? What a joke. Show me some proof of that. Please.

  • This is a great tribute to the Ronette's version, complete with Phil Spector's "wall of sound" production. Thanks for posting!

  • Wow! I haven't heard this song since I was like 13 in 1973 or thereabouts.

  • Awesome song! Met my husband while this song was playing! LOVE IT..it's still our song after 35 yrs! Love you Andy Kim!

  • This is another act that still got it. He reminds me so much on Neil Diamond when sing Rock Me Gently. Love to see all the guys from the Archies perform together before they all die. This guy truly is spectacular

  • There are a handful of songs from this period: "Which Way You Goin Billy," "My Baby Loves Love," "Build Me Up Buttercup." No more than 10. They are indispensable in the 20th Century canon of essential compositions. This is near the top. Andy Kim is spectacular.

  • wow, which way you goin billy,by the poppy family.great song.brings back alot of good times

  • I love this Song!

  • Andy Kim is one of the most underrated singer/songwriters of our time. Just look at the current available catalog of his singles and albums - they're virtually non-existent. His 1973 UNI album and his 1974 Capitol album are introspective masterpieces. He's got a very decent voice too. Thanks for sharing this video!

  • Andy Kim is a phenominal talent. He sounds exactly the same today as he did in this video. It is thrilling that he has been nominated for the 2008 Hit Parade Hall Of Fame.

  • Also this somg is dedicated to Coco, my one and only love... Stark, who loves more than only Rammstein-songs ;-)

  • Wonderful classic! Thanks for the post!

  • what a closet classic!!!!, my sisters used to flog this to death when i was a kid.

it still remains one of my all time favourites,it brings back many good time memories, this is the first time i have ever seen this song sung, thanks a big bunch for posting it

  • Lets hear it for the best summer of my life..summer of 1969..Andy Kim on the radio

  • Thanks for Andy kim's version on video. The Ronnette version was so out of what was happening,so nuff said to all.

  • Scruffy, please type ronettes in the search bar.. click search it'll be one of the videos on that channel

  • El puma versión en inglés.

  • Thinking out loud: Hmmm i wonder what Phil Spector would've done upon hearing this version of the ronettes chestnut

  • This was not one of the Ronettes songs. Your thinking of "Be my baby" which Andy Kim did cover. He wrote this one, as well as some Archies songs and other bubblegum hits.

  • baby, I Love you was the followup to Be my baby

  • Scruffy21: how old are you? any Phil Spector fan( of which I'm one) knows that this song was the follow up 45 to Be my Baby

And ,yes ..This is a Ronettes song

  • "Baby I Love You" was written in 1963 by Jeff Barry, Ellie Greenwich and Phil Spector. Those same writing credits appear on both the original Ronettes 45 (#24 in 1964) AND Andy's better-selling record (#9 in 1969). I have both here in front of me on my desk. Andy did help write a lot of good songs, but "Baby I Love You" wasn't one of them. Jeff Barry and Andy Kim composed six of the 11 songs on Andy's "Baby I Love You" LP, which Jeff produced. Kim's version IS great -- and deservedly a hit.

  • I'm not disputing that fact, hora. But, taking the woa oh oh ohs out of baby I Love you is a crime!

  • I like the "Whoa-oh-oh-ohs" too. But Jeff Barry apparently had a different arrangement in mind for the version by his sometimes writing partner, Andy Kim. Rather than simply duplicate The Ronettes' arrangement note for note, they tried a fresh interpretation that was still true to the song's emotional thrust. And it worked!

  • with out a doubt,hora

By the way,who is scruffy21 to say that this version is better than the original?

  • please type ronettes in the search bar.. click search it'll be one of the videos on that channel Andy Kim Didn't write this song. this is a phil spector song, not andy Kim Ask Hora about it

  • He cheered. Aa one of the three credited composers, Phil was cut in one-third of the writer royalties!

  • Mr.Spectorhelpedwritethe music for the song... so he deserved one third of the credits on this chestnut

  • Well, he is CREDITED as a co-writer. As Ellie Greenwich once delicately put it, "Phil INSPIRES more than he writes." It is quite possible that Barry and Greenwich actually wrote 100% of the song and Phil demanded a one-third cut or he would not allow The Ronettes to record it. That happens a lot more than you think! Even Chuck Berry's "Maybelline" carries the name Alan Freed as co-writer, even though all Freed did was introduce the record on his influential radio show!

  • i love this song

i knw it by heart because

my daddy use ot sing it to me

when i was a baby but he

    would change the lyrics from

    "Baby i love you" to

    "Kayleigh I love you"!!!!

  • Check Out the Ramones Version, I believe it may be better, however Andy Kim is great Rock me Gently and Sugar can't be beat.

  • Aw, the late 1960's/early 1970's, when people still knew how to sing! Many people miss this era of music, very much so. This is why oldies stations do better than many of the so-called radio programming experts think.

  • "Baby I Love You" was Andy Kim'sfourth of 12 hits between 1968 and 1974. It sold a millikon and reached #9 in the summer of 1969. The next year he also scored with another Ronettes song, "Be My Baby."

  • horar, please type ronettes in the search bar.. click search it'll be one of the videos on that channel

  • Nice 4th grade humor...not!!!!

  • Neil Diamond, John Travolta and Gene Simmons walked into a phone booth. There was a cloud of smoke and out walked Andy Kim.

  • such a wonderful song

  • i just cried tears of happiness all over myself

  • Ohhhh I LOVE Andy Kim, have ever since the 70's love love love this song, always have always will.

  • anyone have "How'd We Ever Get This Way" on video???

  • Jesus! Was he a Neil Diamond wannabe or what? Looks like a cross between Diamond and John Travolta. ugh!

  • What's the problem? Now we're worried about what he looks like? I happen to like the way he looks. Why can't you just allow we Andy fans to enjoy him. I think Neil and John are both great. But Andy Kim is one of a kind and I don't think he bothers himself with or tries to compete with Neil or anyone else. That's one thing I like so much about him. Relax before you have a stroke. The Queen has spoken. ;)

  • COver? Andy Kim wrote the bloody song!

  • No, he didn't. It was written by Ellie Greenwich and Jeff Barry, with a little flair from Phil Spector. Same with Kim's other hit, 'Be my Baby". From the Brill Building era. Incredible song writers.

  • No, he had another hit "Shoot 'Em Up Baby".

  • yeah, and his biggest was "Rock me Gently". Never said those were his only hits. Said this one (and several others) were not written by him.

  • Not written by him..? So what..?

The Supremes never wrote a single one of their hits.

  • strsantos: I am not dead yet and it has been past the deadline. Why put this on a music video? No one cares about this foolishness. Get a life, why don't you. This is a good site and I am glad that it has been posted. Thank you for this gift.
