I could be wrong, but on april fools day on DeviantART, they changed everyone's icon picture thing, with a mudkip, and it said "I heard u lyk mudkips!?" and if you tryed to change it, it said "YOU DON'T LIKE MUDKIP!!??" so everyone was stuck with mudkip for a whole day, so that could be where it came from... ^_^
