I have a cambridge soundworks sub and speakers set, it's rated at 20 watts total(it's old, like 90's) but that lil sub and those four speakers are pretty beast for 20 watts, if I had an amp i would try this on the sub.
What kind of mini 2.5 is that? I'd love to have one. I have 5 of the Hivi 2 inch and they are rated 20W, but I've given them 80W-100W and they still played great, but I didn't crank long enough to get that hot. That 2.5 looks even better for a cleaner full range than the Hivi's
Looks a nice little speaker. Definately not getting 100W RMS though. I don't doubt that you were using a 100W amp, but it certainly won't have been delivering full power to this little driver in free air! To find the power being delivered connect an AC multimeter accross the speaker terminals whilst playing (ideally 50-60Hz sine wave) and read off the voltage. The V/R = I, then I*V = W. That'll be RMS value with a typical voltmeter though it doesn't account for variations from nominal impedance.
yeah the amp was no where near max. been wanting to do that for ages, also to find out the REAL resistance of my subs + the wires. Problem is, no multimeter yet! good to hear from someone that knows what theyre talking about lol.
Aww, so cute that little subbyyy.

From a cheap old 2.1 computer system. The 3" subs are 15W RMS, the 4" are 25W RMS. And they actually are good subs given the size.
uN1Qu3DZ 3 years ago
3"s are 10w RMS, 4" are 15w RMS, and 5.25"s are 20-25w RMS.
dudemaster999 3 years ago 2
3"s are 10w 4"s are 15w but in know one,what is
40w rms.
SuperSmasher97 3 years ago
