Why are the majority of individuals opposed to government run health care, which coincidentally is not in the bill (public option, single payer), receiving government run health care (medicare)? Why are we so afraid of government yet bend over backwards for corporations?
Lots of great questions here. Too bad I wasn't aware of this meeting. I need to get more involved in these Honesdale TownHall meetings. This is more about our 10th amendment and should not be a Federal issue since it is unconstitutional.
@carneykid30 don't you just wish......this government and this healthcare are simply garbage...seems like your angry white republicans are the only people in this country with enough sense to figure this scam out...and all those thousands and thousands of tea partiers, who libs are scared to death of...i bet in november, all those angry white republicans along with the angry tea party and the angry democrats will let you know where you stand
At first he said he read the bill, then he said there was no bill, then at the end he encouraged people to go online and read the bill which was what people had told him they had already done which was why they were bringing up these issues - but then he said there was no bill. These guys think WE THE PEOPLE are stupid. They stand there and boldly contradict themselves right in your face - several times during a meeting.
@heavenslilstangel yeah, i agree, this guy is a total failure..i will be glad to see them all gone come november...and they actually think the people will forget by november vote them back in...they are that crazy for sure
I was at that meeting. He claimed he read the bill and had it sitting on his coffee table at home. He kept denying what is in the bill was in the bill. And people were shouting out the page numbers!
Must we really continue with this Socialism argument. You know we already have government run, "Socialized" medical coverage in this country, it's called Medicare. I suppose we should abolish that now, given how so many people have suddenly realized how horrible it is for us to have the government involved in health care at taxpayers expense.
Carney - fair warning... a large majority of your constituents absolutely, totally oppose this hideous and deadly health bill. If you help this bill pass you WILL BE DEFEATED when you run for re-election!!!
If you won't do the right thing for your constituents that you are supposed to represent, at least be smart and do the right thing for your political career.

Baseless complaints & no solutions
The facts:
We spend more than any other industrialized country & get less for it
Over 1/2 of all bankruptcy in US is linked to medical debt-80% of those people had insurance!
Small business & their employees are being squeezed to cough up more and more money for less coverage
Trust me when I tell you that care is being rationed NOW. People choose between their homes & their lives
Here in Honesdale your neighbors are struggling!

the bill is 198 pages less than Tolstoy's War and Peace

carney is such an elitist. He keeps telling people to read the bill.
Problems with that:
1. Most Americans who have real jobs that actually produce wealth are too busy to sit down and read a 1000+ page bill.
2. The bill's authors purposefully use vague language that can be interpreted in many different ways.
3. Not included in the bill are the 1000+ pages of information that actually explain the vague language in the bill.
Carney is deceitful. Shame on us for electing him!

Any Rep. that votes for any of these Socialist Bills should be considered a Traitor.
