You should look into "Procession of the Ghouls" live at St. Johns the Divine this Halloween, or watch videos of last year's ritual on YouTube!
Resembles the macabre ceremonial witchcraft events I have attended during fall solstice, with all the dark neopagan vibes a person could want to properly celebrate our Hallowed Holiday of the Damned!
Who ever said going to church wasn't wickedly fun?!
Everyone worships differently. Episcopalians are known for their high services, full of music, dance, incense, etc. I for one enjoy these services as I believe worship involves action. Making use of our God given talents to praise Him! Thanks for the wonderful vids Sandra! God Bless!! :)
I have to agree with you there- it is my belief as an Anglican that "music maketh worship". I believe it is using our God-given talents to the utmost in the sense that we use our brains to write hymn tunes, our voices to sing them, and most importantly our hearts to write the words, and believe them. We miss this in New Zealand as people are scared to believe in God and be proud of it. How very sad.
I've attended Full Latin Masses and they bore the life out of me. No singing... bad music... The Protestants understand worship is more than an attended event but something to be celebrated with lots of music and singing.
AMEN, Sandra. You hit the proverbial nail on the head. Let's face it, on Christmas the churches of all denominations are filled with infrequent church-goers. Give them full-throated high-churchmanship!
Although you're a bit surly about it, Frattington, you do have a point. The Oxford Movement never recommended a "parade" of cross-bearers. Christ died on ONE cross, and that is the Holy Cross. We Anglican/Episcopalians are still a work in progress, so don't be too rash to judge our liturgizing.
As for pipeup1, I think you're a bit condescending, and there's no room for condescension in "The Church for All People"!
Too much of too much. Anglicanism mustn't continue to compensate for its inherently Protestant origins by trying outritualize (sic) the simple nobility of the pre-Reformation Roman Rite it still longs to emulate. SJtD seems to look more to the Cirque de Soleil for liturgical inspiration, and it shows - glaringly.
Where is this cathedral? I am an Episcopalian from Alabama.

The Cathedral is first a huge and grand space. A simple service would be lost. The high services fil the space & indeed spiritually satisfying.

Nonesense - go research the Oxford movement and Pusey then revisit an Anglican/Episcopalian Cathedral and you might then understand whats happening.

Absolutely magnificent! The very best of the high Anglican style. Makes me happy to be an Episcopalian. Thanks be to God.

It makes me so happy when I hear everyone in the congregation singing! I wish people would sing more often in church!
