  • A great religious song that everyone love's.

  • my aunt is irish and my sister sang this at her funeral..not a dry eye in the church. R.I.P peggy<3

  • 1080p? needed?

  • @jhonychimpo93 not really, it's music. You can't see it. Just listen.

  • psychoo-yes I recall the version of Ave Maria. I get your point.

  • I like Vitas' rendition but this is very beautiful as well, slower tempo.

  • this reminds me of needful things, movie

  • @nickdijcj1 i think that was In The Hall Of The Mountain King

  • 240p?

  • Pimp Shit ?? No idea what you are talking about.

  • @aquiariots72 You're obviously not hip on modern diction haha. It's a compliment. Using two adjectives at that, I'd say thanks if I were you.

  • We sang this in high school choir but with the Latin lyrics (not German) and it was still hard to do!!! But I do LOVE this kind of singing. This woman has an angel's voice!!

  • I cried guys.

    I FUCKING CRIED

  • I love trance, dubstep, gangster rap... but... this... this... is beautiful.

  • The moment I heard her voice, it sent shivers down my spine.

    Pure, flawless beauty.

  • it is very good but its the tune that is haunting (hit man 3 starts with this tune) you do not need the singer .

  • @Citylife6 You should learn the difference between arranged pop music and classical music. Classical is performed as written, pop doesn't have to be. Schubert wrote this song exactly as you are hearing it in this video, voice included. The song you mentioned just uses an arranged version of this melody, it is not the same song.

  • this is also my fav rendition of schuberts ave maria. bonney is one serious diva!

  • love :) and great editing........

  • This sounds almost identical to Tarja Turunen's version. Beautiful to be sure.........

  • Just amazing!

  • Please don't beat yourself up over the pic's ... I think they are beautifull... I can just imagine her voice flowing over all the valleys and the hills and into every little nook and cranny/

Thanx for sharing.... this is truly a remarkable voice..... God Bless!

  • *sniff* that was beautiful..

  • who's the original singer ? i like it very much :)

  • @kinderhell Barbara Bonney.

  • All i picture is myself playing hitman blood money

  • All i picture is a slow motion scene of a mob movie as they are gunning down a mob boss

  • I have to agree with you, it is beautifully sung. Thankyou!

  • HERMOSA, PERO LA PREFIERO EN LATÍN...

  • I think I know who sings this particular one. Barbara Bonney. Her voice was a little hard to determine, but I am almost 100% on that.

  • @TheVideoMan2007

    I agree, sounds like her.

  • WONDERFULLY!!!

  • My mom used to sing this to me as a kid. Always makes me cry. She passed away after a battle with cancer a few months ago. This was sung in the church. The emotion was unreal. Just listening to it again now... wow, it gets me every time! I wrote a song for my mom too, and others who have lost someone they love. It's a piano ballad called 'My Friend.' If you have a moment have a listen on my channel. Best wishes.

  • Extremely beautiful with rainymood in the background. Helpful for those restkess nights.

  • Who knew that playing violent video games such as Hitman: Blood Money would lead me to such glorious music?

  • this is Barbara Bonney. her voice is beautiful :)

  • Beautiful song indeed.

  • Mirusia Lowerse outsings this renndition'

Mirusia is angelic, devine and celestial.

    Purity in soul and heart

  • Gosh, enough excuses, it is the most beautiful A M !

  • Straight to the heart and to the soul.

  • @rog5762 true

  • Ela canta dentro de mim!

  • Schubert was another gift from God to Human, after Mozart.

  • Gentle rendition - meaningful and perfect listening. Thank you.

    Mervyn and family.

  • divine music and voice, wonderful !

  • verynice。。。。。。。。。。。。。

  • cs_italy

  • So sorry to see comments that are so ugly they have to be bleeped.

This is the German (Schubert) version which isn't the same as the Hail Mary (Ave Maria) in Latin, such as Bach-Gounod. This is also known as The Lady of the Lake.

  • Thank you for this. It is so beautiful.

  • Beautiful music. Thanks for uploading! I love you all so much, i wish you the best in all your endeavors!! Spread love!! Spread love to all, not just your friends and family, but everyone!!! I love you!!

  • its so beautiful i love listening to this it makes me feel so much.

  • this is subliminal there is no one that can sing this song with such feeling love love it

  • Wow!!!!!

  • amazing

  • i had goosebumps during half of the song

  • Thank you for uploading this. Everytime I feel down, I listen to this and then feel better.

  • you know some people think this sounds like unicorn barf but I think this sounds like being born again and I'm just 13 =-P

  • I think the Ave is best sung by a female singer. Pavarotti, Bocelli etc are too "Beefy" in their delivery and as a result the sentiment does'nt come across.

  • @bellavia5 Couldn't agree more.

  • @bellavia5 well, the hitman (movie) version was sung by a boy,but i think everybody knows what you mean.It fits better if this song is performed by a soprano voice.

  • @psykoo1991 Really? I recall a female voice for Hitman, or perhaps I'm remembering the games.

  • @xIZoneHD well i could be wrong, but it doesn't matter anyway.A male singer in the right age can sing soprano like a female singer. That's what i wanted to say =)

  • thumbs up ..for nothing ;) Downloaded the mp3 with MelodyQuest . com for free bit.ly\yHNrLk !

  • Jesus had one Mother. She witness the most Magnificant and yet the most horrible of Events ever. I thank God for Mary and She truley is Blessed amongst all women. I also thank God for the Proverbs 31 women I have witnessed in my 56 years. I am ashamed that it took me so long to figure it out... Shalom

  • AVE MARIA

  • offered in 240p :/

  • JOJOSPACEMONKRY thank you for wonderful music.they all love it ,they just like to complain

  • This is delightful to anybody's ears. A gorgeous piece of art so beautiful, i really enjoy and can as well listen to this every night before bed this would be such a heaven touch before fall asleep.

  • everyones ripping on teenagers not listening to this more often. you would be suprised, you only hear about the idiot teenagers because there the ones that caught doing stupid shit

  • i imagine this like a sad, suicide song.

such a wonderful melody but at the same time it makes you feel hallow inside.

  • @gcc4426 If you read the translation in video information(click Show more), you will see the true story in song. Whether now, a 1000 years from now, or when Schubert first wrote the song, the meaning never changes.

  • @IntoTheMystical loosen up, IntoTheMyst. why so...serious?

and yes, i've read it bfore you said so. :)

  • @gcc4426 No, no, just trying to explain the song. Classical music has a specific meaning set by the composer. This song is about a young girl fighting with every resource she knows to protect herself and her father from overwhelming forces of evil. It should inspire thoughts of courage and strength instead of suicide and sadness.

  • @IntoTheMystical ok. point taken. :)

  • @gcc4426 It's neither sad nor suicide. It comes from a cycle of song to Scottish author Walter Scott's poem "Lady of the Lake" translated into German. In this song a young Scottish lady Ellen Douglas who is hiding in a cave with her father from his enemy is praying for their safety. If you google "Ellens dritter Gesang", the wiki article will contain lyrics in English - the original words from the poem.

  • @jewelmarkess i know its not intended to be sad or anything negative. it's just my personal take on it. i just find the melody relaxing...and somehow sad at the same time. i hope that clears things up.

ok, this is enough. argument is over...and done.

  • amazing:) if only teenagers listened to this more than just regular pop. The shame on what they are missing out on.

  • @paulababygurl There are many teenagers who listen to classical music, who go to classical music concerts and opera. I've seen teenagers at the Met. There aren't many of them, but they exist. The problem is our media that doesn't show it on tv or radio, also lack of music education in schools.

  • To all you young punks out there who seem to think that :gay" is a slam or a slur, you are showing your utter ignortance. This magnificient peice of music was composed by Franz Schubert, who was gay. He died tragically at age 31 in an era before there was such a thing as anti-biotics; Schubert wrote incredible music before he was 16, as did Mozart, that is still played and revered world wide today, after 200 plus years! In 200 years, the world will not remember Bieber but will remember Schubert!

  • @vorspiel1023 "Musicologist and Schubert expert, Rita Steblin, demonstrated in many studies, based on documentary evidence, not only that there was no foundation in the claim of Schubert's homosexuality..." - Franz Schubert bio

  • Soooo relaxing...

  • hitman anyone?

  • best i heard

  • 11 million views! preety impressive!

  • gol 2 intro FTW :D

  • @THING3100 What's gol 2?

  • @Mariner797 A Movie...

  • omg this is soooo beautiful! <3

  • go on my channel

  • This is really beautiful. I am not usually a fan of the female classical voice, but this is very well done. I have done this song too. You can see it on my channel.

  • ....when i first heard this song was the first time i rember seeing sum 1 special in a coffin that hurt..down to the soul but im very sure she is in a nice place waching her kids from above everytime i hear this song though i can rember her face looking so lifeless so sad.

  • Just in case any of you are wondering, I'm pretty sure this is Barbara Bonney.

  • Beautiful. My mom makes sings this all the time.

  • Every time I listen to this I feel like at any moment 47's going to put a bullet through my face or toss a fiber wire around my neck when I go to the bathroom. Gamers will understand.

  • @sdot18 I thought the best part of the movie was the opening, actually that's why i'm here.

  • This is absolutely amazing. Why is the world so unappreciative of this type of music and talent? I can listen to this all day everyday. I may have looked like I was weird when I was singing this under my breath while taking my ACT but I still got a damn good score of 32.

  • @iWeird0matic CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR 32! Never underestimate the power of the Holy Spirit - do you think you'd have gotten the same score listening to M&M or heavy metal? I've learned (and I'm not a Bible thumper) that good and evil can not co-exist. The more you fill your spirit with good, there is less room for junk. God bless.

  • daniel perret is the best.

  • who in the world is that??? what a voice.

  • @magnolan Barbara Bonney

  • Thanks for posting this version and the author. It almost brings tears to my eyes, so beautiful. Also don't let all of the negative comments deter you in the future from posting such beautiful music. Thanks again.

  • this music is for anyone - despite me being 16 it is stupid to see how people my age can pass off music as this to be 'gay' of shit, it is literally the nicest thing to listen to, and this is coming from someone who listens to heavy metal and hard rock on a daily bases

  • Spelling...a lost art

  • @gibbonsanthony I no i hate those ppl that just hate on music cuz its not their type glad to see u have an open mind

  • @gibbonsanthony this is stunning im 18 and i like megadeth and mettalica and some rap but this is amazing what vocals wow stunning this is the most beautiful song ive heard

  • @zachary61693 so good to hear. hope you can ADD a little beauty to your daily diet. nothing wrong with that - click on some of the similar videos on the right and explore.

  • @gibbonsanthony ,

you are completely right, this is one of the greatest classical masterpieces ever created, a sublime piece of art in a wonderful performance. Never look at what other people say, never follow the herd.

  • @gibbonsanthony Takes young, strong, self-assured people like you to change that perception. Music is just notes. Not good or bad - it's what we do with it and how it's packaged - what the motivation is. There's nothing wrong with ADDING beautiful music to your daily diet. Love your comment.

  • @gibbonsanthony This is one of the most beautiful songs i´ve heard ever. gibbonsanthony: I love this kind of music, as well as Gorgoroth, Sepultura and Ministry. Music is´nt something you have to explain. It doesnt make you gay, gays like Justin Bieber etc. you dont like that, right?

  • @gibbonsanthony You got it, this is very delightful song to your ears....:)

  • @gibbonsanthony So true..

  • @gibbonsanthony may i recommend Immediate music and search Capoproductions. Lots of lovely music there.

  • @gibbonsanthony Wow, you listen to hard rock, AND heavy metal ON A DAILY BASIS? What a hardcore badass.

  • @gibbonsanthony I'm gay and nonreligious, but I love this song. I know how you're using "gay," but I think the people your age calling it that are both stupid for not appreciating this kind of music and ignorant for using "gay" to mean "bad."

  • @eddievanzant Whats your F3$%^&in problem??

  • @gibbonsanthony Your right. It doesn't matter what people think is popular, if you like the music listen to it. Music doesn't have to fit in that little box everyone likes to put it into inorder for it to be good.

  • @gibbonsanthony cool story bro ....

  • simply put, it's music that nourishes the soul

  • Every time I listen to this song i think of a slo motion fire fight.

  • Lovely

  • Like if goal 2 brought you here

  • Most beautiful

  • The crows maintain that a single crow could destroy the heavens.

Doubtless that is so, but it proves nothing against the heavens,

for the heavens signify simply: The impossibility of crows.

  • OMG...OMG...OMG....BEAUTIFUL......

  • Agent 47, your next mission is in.

  • it is not sung by Barbara Bonney

  • @KeltyI Barbara Bonney has recorded this on an album, and has this MP3 download at Amazon under her name - "Ellens Gesang III D839". Maybe your friend Amalung can sue.

  • elle amelung

  • A Most Beautiful To Be Played On The Organ. And To Be Used For A Most Beautiful Wedding. So Wonderful.

  • i like the hitmans version of the song but this sounds beautiful :)

  • what is this

  • @kestlerlikespie This is a very old German art song written by Franz Schubert and sung by Barbara Bonney. The Catholic church was so taken by the music, they replaced Schubert's words with the Hail Mary prayer and called it Schubert's Ave Maria. But this song is the original "Ellens dritter Gesang" or "Ellen's Third Song".

  • Poor Mary

  • It's German. The lyrics are in the video's description.

  • Its German and i know German,Its German

  • This is not Latin I know latin and this is NOT

  • I believe the singer is Sissel. I have just listened to several of her songs including Auld Lang Syne which is out of this world. No one can sing like she does.

    Grandmajo

  • @Blufftongrandma If you have listened to Sissel Kyrkjebø, you would know she sounds nothing like this. The real name of the singer, Barbara Bonney, is mentioned almost every third comment. Why can't you read that or the video information if you want to know? Spamming classical videos with bad information is just poor manners.

  • what key is this in?

  • what language is that??

  • @dakarakanashii i believe is latin

  • @669702 oh ok thanks

  • hitman

  • This version really is Lovely who is singing it please :)

  • @mjon4360Mike barbra bonney

  • This is SUMI JO - thanks for the wonderfully clear upload.

  • @fishstory It would probably be a better idea to read video information or comments than to assume. This is Barbara Bonney.

  • A few years I heard this song and thought it was quite ordinary. But now I hear this song again and it has moved me to tears... so beautiful

  • Wow, absolutely tranquilizing

... I can't move my hands or feet, better press replay!

    Thank you

  • It is Barbara Bonney singing

  • A timeless antique. Thank you for the upload. I shall cherish it along with all my favourites.

  • Speaking as an atheist, this comes as close as possible to making me doubt my beliefs. So Beautiful..

  • @raphaelnonsenso My sentiments exactly. Same with Sumi Jo singing O Holy Night

  • emotion

  • beautiful, German and emphatic., if you have never been scolded in German you must know that being exalted is as exciting.

  • THIS IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SONG IN THE WORLD.

  • Ok, so this is not Callas, but WHO is the singer...? I couldn't see this written in the comments, sorry...

  • err what kind of gay shit is this?

  • What language is this?

  • @MrGoldenshowers its german but its dificult to understand and im german

  • @MrGoldenshowers It's German language ;)

  • i can c hitman walking in the mist ...

  • Beautiful,,,,,,,,,,,,
