amazing what M.I.T. can do with robotics, this is the most "emotional" showing robot i have ever seen, even over kismet!

This robot's features are in what people call the "Uncanny Valley" which gives you an uncanny feeling. Basically robots fall into four categories of appearance: non-human, humanoid (like Transformers), Too Human (creepy), and lastly perfectly human. Once they make this perfectly human, then it will not be creepy. Also, they could make it less human like, and it would not creep you out.

I think Nexi's features are exaggerated to the point of being "cute"; the face is youthful and ambiguous. Unlike CB2 whose features are just not well balanced imo.

Nexi's movements are also robotic enough for people to accept.

@turgore They will eventually. But it would be adhered to a strict set of rules. Imagine your at a store trying to return something, but are a day late. People would most likely do it out of compassion. Something like the MDT wouldn't no matter what unless specified otherwise. We are far from AI I'm sure. My guess is 45-50 years from reaching an AI level to do simple tasks.

Maybe i the year 6000 AI will exist but were FAR from it now.

I guess i don't know what your talking about... but at the current level of technology I think robots could replace all human labor easily - its not done right now because human "wage slaves" are much cheaper - but you watch within our lifetime robots will take all jobs and the economy will lose all relevance as we enter the age of labor less abundance. we already have cars that can drive themselves.
