Really, corporate America, just as they do with any other original craft, killed hip-hop. There is no originality in hip-hop. Just as KRS stated in his album "Sex and Violence". That's all that matters to these record companies. MONEY! That's why rappers like EPMD, Tribe, De La Soul, Rakim, Kool G Rap, andThe Guru, just to name a few, don't get their props. When the hard core rappers talked about violence then, it wasn't selling because it was original content and they wanted no parts of that.
In my opinion the new school rappers to help the old school rappers on their albums were by tracks not only talking about bitches and money, but also tracks talking about the state of our world. And instead of their CDs have only beats new school also have old school beats.
@reymisterio56 word definitely man, Real Hip Hop is always about the LOVE & THE PEOPLE. and yes of course! they should be talking about the state of our world! Promote The Awareness, Love, and Peace! Power to the People!
I`am 32 years old and i listen to Hip Hop Music since i´am 12 years. Hip Hop is taken to a Level where it don´t belong. There is no one New School Rapper today like them from the Old School. I´am really sad about this trasformation. The old School still Rules !!! (Sorry for my bad Englich)
I'm a 17 year old kid from Venezuela, Maracaibo. I now live in Pompano Beach, Florida and I'm influenced by the cold school. I love my Pac, Nas, Big, Ice Cube/T, Jay, RZA, and many more. I still respect new artists such as Jeezy and Khalifa. I write rhymes all day and pay homage to those legends that influenced me. My dreams to be able to spit with Nas on instrumentals by Q-tip and Preme. Collaborating with artists that created REAL rap and proove that time hasn't killed the essence of Hip Hop.
Sorry but I can't get into new skool, the Mc's are mono tone with no style, the beats are lame(to pop/RnB)to much singing in traks aswell, the only thing that may save Hip Hop is that it goes back to move forward again, because alot of it is just pop music, and the U.S is a lot to blame.
Im white and im Australian but iv been down with the 90's hip hop ever since i was 10. I still rock my 90's style wears and shit im still keepen it real and i dont give a fuck what anyone sayes. Im a gonna keep it 90's id say till i die nowdays the music is just fashion show shit. Mutha fucka's Rapn Bullshit (R&B) just like Rza said on the Forever album
real-talk... r&b and rock groups of the past and present are treat'd like royalty and respect'd for their talant and muzikal skillz ,,, hip-hop iz a why of life and rap iz "our" platform for intelligent communication, even gutta rap iz educational ! This man is one of the pillardz that hip-hop & rap was built on !!! respect has no age limit a child must respect his father, and vice-a-verza. Love & respect hip-hop it'z our baby. Real-talk !
i agree wuth FLASH., its time to BRIDGE THE GAP, and bring back the OLD SCKOOL RAPPERS to maybe do some collabos with the NEW SKOOL niggas.. KOOL MOE DEE, FURIOUS 5, RUN DMC, SALT N PEPA, EPMD, HOUDINI, CRUSH CREW, FAT BOYS, KURTIS BLOW, ICE T, CHUCK D, SUGA HILL GANG, & many more old skool heads, i would love to bring back that 1980's hiphop sound :)
I think Age isnt as much of a big deal like it used to be. When Wu-Tang came out, the members were already "Old" in the audiences eyes, thats why I believe they came out with such a unique style, grown up creativity... they werent doing "Soulja Boy" type stuff. I feel hip-hop is coming back, old new and new school will mix it up. Rappers in the south are making some basic hits that sound like somthing you would hear from the 90's, but its modern... old but new.
I'm All school!
