nice video. I know you said these were your older flashes. I feel lucky as the nikon cls system means i can save a little bit of money by not needing the pocket wizards, especially for indoor lighting with my cameras flashes working as a commander units..
Maybe canon has that feature on its more uptodate flashes.
saves a lot of space and settign up time and makes a shoot a lot less cluttered.
I switched my personal gear over to Nikon this summer actually. One problem with TTL is that it's not precise since it's evaluative. So depending on the environment you're shooting in, it might struggle to be spot on. However, it's very easy to adjust a TTL system on the fly by comparison. Canon's TTL and wireless system both suck. I'm considering the Radio Popper system.
i was wondering is it possible to use flashes and constant light from lamps . for example for portrate photography , the lamps would be lighing the back round and the flash for the model (sorry about the spelling )
I'm fairly confident this is the bag I use. It fits two stands really well. I recently added a third and it gets a bit cramped with the two flashes as well.

Great video sir. I haven't seen someone move through the information they are trying to provide in such a smooth, concise, and eloquent fashion. A youtube strobist favourite for sure.
The video was shot teathered to the MacBook Pro. I used iDVD and iMovie. I think the into was created using iDVD. I'm pretty sure of that. It was the first time I had used that... that's why it resembles Cover Flow.

the lamps would have to be very powerful if you are shooting at your max sync speed. just use another flash

Any particular reason you choose umbrellas so small in size?
thepiecesfit 4 years ago
I didn't particular care for umbrellas as a light source at the time I initially put the kit together. I bought the cheapest ones I could buy.
In my opinion they don't need to be bigger as the lightsource dumping into them is small.
A couple notes: Umbrellas are a huge light source. Small ones catch less wind when working outdoors.

awsome and well explained video - better than some of the others trying to explain the topic on youtube. Thanks a lot!
