Run Windows Applications on your Mac using Crossover

WeeklyMacTips, I have bootcamp on my Imac 2011. There are places to buy XP home edition service pack 3 on disks but do I just insert the XP disk and follow the prompts and install it and that's all there is to it. The reason I ask is a person who builds PCs told me that it is very difficult and time consuming to install windows on a Mac. I don't see why though. If I have XP disks what else would there be to do. Then I will install Sony Vegas. I'm asking because I don't know.

If you have steam installed on a mac and a laptop/pc install any steam games on the pc, then you can access them on your mac. i have orange box installed on my pc and it works fully

Crossover has a limited things it can run, i would very strongly recommend to install windows using the boot camp thing. but it requires a windows installing cd and a working serial.

I need help with the ~ while playing Half Life 1.

In steam I can get the console window up by typing -console in the launch options. But when I start the game Half Life 1, the console window disappears. I know that I can get it up by pressing the ~ (Console button) but I just can't get it to work! Can anyone help me with getting up the console window while playing the game? (Half Life 1 via Steam - In Crossover.)
