  • Wax isn't playing the sound, during play back while i'm editing the video? do i need to change any settings or something? btw; great vid.

  • Don't forget to put the sound in the timeline!

There are 2 different tracks on the timeline: video and audio!

  • This is great but does anyone know where I can find software that does it "live" for windows, I know Mac's come with something that does it live.

  • I use Visual Jockey Gold SP1 to do chroma key live. I have to use VH Screen Capture to broadcast Visual Jockey output to uStream but it works perfectly. If you have any trouble with Visual Jockey feel free to ask me.

    My lighting

    4 Overhead Spotlights

    3 Floor Spotlights

  • ok, it's not letting me add my capture device, it just lists them in the debug screen, how do I pick one?

  • Did you start a new composition? Before you start adding effects or devices in VJ you should see a orange bubble that says "Drag and Drop Effect". When you see that you should be able to drag your capture device onto the board.

    File>New>Composition

After that the debug screen should disappear.

  • Nice! Thanks!

  • Why not just print out a picture and then use your hand puppet in front of the picture??

Seems like a lot of work for what looks like a hand in front of a picture.

Lets see a video in the backround...

  • When i go to do this when i go to get rid of the green, to fully get rid of the green screen i end up losing most of myslef?? what am i doing wrong

  • you need to make the green one individual color, and make yourself have no green. This way, you don't have to increase the tolerance very much.

  • Is the MSU lossless codec free

  • t/y so much for this tut it helped alot

  • So you can chroma key any color? not just green and blue?

  • yeah, but green and blue are mostly used because they are the only colors farthest from our skin color

  • great video. on my budget I gotta try it. Thanks

    Great guide, BTW!

  • hello

great video,i got hold og wax but i can not add media files can you help me by telling me if you know who to sort this

    thanks

  • billyhastings: I couldn't use any videos either so after begging some people I searched around and found something called AVS Video Converter. It's simple to use and free and wax 2.0 will accept it. It has some other good stuff as well. Good luck.

  • billyhastings: Forget about AVS Video Converter, I gave you the wrong product. It was something called "Prism" found at nchsoftware(dot)com(fowardslash)prism(forwardslash)index(dot)html

Disregard the previous post about AVS Video Converter. It will cost money.

  • This is an excellent instruction vid. Well explained. However, while attempting to add a media file from my videos or from nero I seem to have a problem as it will not load into the media pool. Anyone know why that is and what I am doing wrong? Thanks.

  • One other thing I'm iterested in is where people can get vidoes to use for backgrounds when making your own videos. As you can tell I have little experience in this but I am very interested in it so bear with me if I just seem stupid when I ask certain questions. Thanks.

  • dispite the lack of expression, this was an amazingly informnative and structured video - the Maestro spoof was funny!

  • Fantastic, simple, easy to do and to understand; free to boot! Bravo.

  • 5 stars best chroma key tutorial ive seen so far

    **clap clap clap**

  • You rock!!!! Thank you for making this video!

  • I have been looking for video editor. But I have a strange feeling like I was been subliminally raped by the red phone conversation. Feel like banging my head on the wall a few times. Thats better. Informative.

  • I don't care, fake maffia- crappy VidCritic.

  • adobe after effects, is better, but it is NOT FREE

  • Do you have to add a plug in to be able to preview the AVI files when you are edit.

  • adobe after effects is way easier

  • where do you get FREE boxes? There is a box tax here so where can i get some?

  • does wax program work with *.mov? and wmv?

  • It's amazing how WAX closely resembles Vegas Movie Studio's interface.

  • I find that sony vegas movie studio works best. It is what i use and its kinda cheap. for platnom it about $120.00. (whch is totaly worth it, windows can only dream of doing things vegas can.)also the learning curve is very easy.

  • I agree. I have been experimenting with chromakey effects with Vegas Movie Studio and Poser 6. I plan on making a portable green screen/blue screen, soon.

  • I NEED HELP! I can't make the clip for movie maker... I did it before, but I didn't know how I did it (Lol).

  • Very nice. I actually already knew this, I just watched to see how you taught it.. very good job.

  • yo landmanfilms try turning your souund up

  • This was very helpful, but I'm afraid I can't afford the $400 chemistry books, also you never mentioned the titles of them. Can I perhaps use books of similar dimensions and weight even thought the price and contents are not the same?

  • very helpful

  • NERD?

  • hwo come when ii play it there is no sound?

  • lol Ghetto Plastic vace...:p

  • Many thanks for taking the time to put this tutorial together. It's the first time I've ever used chroma key. I struggled at first, as I'd hoped to use Microsoft Movie Maker 2 to record the video, but Wax does not recognise the WMA format that MM2 uses. Therefore I downloaded the Logitech ImageStudio for my webcam and used that instead, as it records video in AVI format. I didn't realise that any colour can be used as the backdrop until I tried. All the best. Jonathan

  • Very good tutorial! Very useful!

  • You are doing a great service, teaching these techniques. Ignore the critics - there will always be small minds. You obviously have many skills, but, um, do you speak Chinese? Oh, she speaks English? You're in luck.

  • its about 70 kwid for a real green screen.......... i bought it frm ebay for £3!!!!

  • what progrm should i use if i have a mac

  • GENIUS

    YOU DA MANN!!

  • cool cheers

  • one of the best tutorials ever and real easy to understand. I never thought of using my wax program for this!!!

  • good tutorial. this is what i looking for

  • Hi, again, Fine job as I have said before. I will add that when you decide to seek employment ( sorry about the language ) you should contact the people at DeBug or Wax and do tutorials for them. If not them, do tutorials for any hi-tech outfit. You are much easier to understand than any manual or pdf file or video instructions I have seen.

  • i was louing 4dat kindz of video thx man can u hepl me with som more video like how t0 make guneffect nd more video like dat dat will be helpfulz man thx

  • I'm impressed. Funny, nerdy, and informative.

  • Very nice guide... that editing software looks pretty powerful for a freebie...

  • First for the music adding request, most video editing software has a place to drop and drag mp3 files onto a track and then position it. If you want to make an audio mp3 file, there are software programs ( Band in a Box, Magix many others ) that will do it. Most video programs will have built in public domain music. Your tutorial is well done.

  • Please help me please help me! how do i ad music i realy nead it please help!

  • Great, thanks for sharing the info, Ive been looking for a decent peice of chroma ware for a while and this is a nice one, Many Thanks,

    Krabbit out..

  • can u tell me how to do it in magix movie edit pro?? if possible?, thanks

  • ON THE VIDEO Windows Chroma Key How To WHEN YOU WERE FILMING THE GREEN SCREEN HOW DID YOU SHOW THE FOOTAGE IN THE BOTTOM LEFT CORNER?

  • The main video was shot on a MiniDV camera. The inset video was shot on the webcam you see in the main video. You can use a similar technique to the one documented in the video to overlay the small window. Just import the main video instead of a picture. And adjust SalceX,Y,Z instead of Crop. And obviously no chroma-key filter.

  • Great lesson! Love your cute hand voice too. I want to try but I can't afford the Chemistry books... oh noooo what to do...

  • Thanks! I enjoyed your cute voice saying "retard" with your NZ accent. Very nice. Love your English lessons by the way. I would love to find those for languages I need to learn. Thanks again.
