I've never tried the double knee joints before...I usually just paint skin weights very carefully and they look fine, but I'll have to try this at some point...thanks for another perspective on this...
@MattMcCarthy I can get some of my characters to look alright with just skin weights. Others give me a lot of trouble. Do you use blended weights, or classic linear?
I've also never tried blendshapes for knees, but I can absolutely see how they would be helpful. I usually just stick to my component editor playing around with the smooth skin values of the vertices and the paint skin weights tool...
