@Zappafan1980 Precisely! Zappa uses this all throughout his discography, tying together all of the songs into one big world. His innovation does not get the attention it deserves.
@Zappafan1980 I'd say that he is still known but it's up to you to share it. The best way to share his music is to start off calmly, play his most popular songs first and just ease into his harder stuff. It's hard for some people to work their minds into Zappa's music if they are used to bland pop. I have turned SOOO many people onto Zappa, I know girls that sing "Baby Snakes" because of me. Anyone can be turned onto Zappa if you do it with care.
@Zappafan1980 I just so happen to listen to his music all day every day and people slowly start picking up on what I play in front of them. You can't force his music or it will be looked at as "WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?!" I think that Frank has inspired me not just in music but in life, he was very philosophical and cared about the well being of society. Unlike hippies, Frank wanted people to wake up, smell the shit that was going on, and do something about it...aka his "war on apathy."
@Zappafan1980 You should start them off with catchy songs like "Baby Snakes" "Stick It Out" "Wet T-Shirt Nite" "Dancin' Fool" "Be In My Video" "Goblin Girl" "Catholic Girls" "Tijuana Surf" "Why Does It Hurt When I Pee?" "Titties and Beer." Eventually move on to beautiful songs like "Watermelon In Easter Hay" "Peaches En Regalia" and others. When the person starts to get a feel of this side then they aren't turned off when they hear his complicated stuff.
@Zappafan1980 I would also suggest showing people songs from Ruben and The Jets, people will say, "THIS is Zappa???" I have turned Beyonce fans onto Zappa...anything is possible.
Wow. We knew Frank had been playing different parts of the version of Inca Roads that we all grew up with from One Size Fits All in different places as parts of different things. This melody is also on the recent "it Could Be a One Shot Deal" album. It 's just amazing that these things keep turning up,
Well done!

The Whole Artist Frank Zappa doesnt get the Attention he deserves ( only from his Fan Base )
I mean the Man is in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame for the innovation of the Song Brown Shoes Dont Make It
BUT in my oppinion he made at least 13 Songs that deserve to be in there like, Gregory Pecorry or The Black Page Dance version
I mean he kind of invented Jazz Rock on Hot Rats

I played 13 Frank Zappa CDs to a friend of mine who plays the Drums and Cello and Guitar
and studies music
and after 1 & 1/2 years after he listened to Roxy and Elsewhere 3 times in a row he finally said Oh this guy
isnt THAT Bad
ITs very very hard then get someone into Zappa s music
I love his Lyrics on All Tracks of You Are What You Is, and Joes Garage
very few people understand him

Zappa pasted a part of it on Inca Roads, didn't he??..
didoleibniz91 2 years ago
The solo from Holiday in Berlin on Burnt Weeny Sandwich always did remind me of Inca Roads but I thought it was coincidental.
He didn't paste this older recording though, Inca Roads was played right through by the 1974 band. See the Dub Room Special video of it
