Too Bad, That The City That I live In Monterrey, Mexico, We Don't Have Latin Masses, but I love one single Latin Mass In My City, Because I'm Learning Latin with Our Father, and The Ave Maria, But unfortunately, I'm still hearing the mass in Spanish, but Latin, Is the One That I Want To Hear For The 1st Time in my life, beautiful mass in Latin, and It's WONDERFUL!!!!! :-)
@spitzer72 I am also very much in favour of the Tridnetine mass and I prefer it to the Novous ordo because it gives us a taste of heaven on Earth. BUT we can't hold everything Lefebrve did as infalible and doctinal, there was clear disobedience towards the Pope. Schisms hurt the whole Church. He should have bowed his head and allowed God to lead the way. BTW I admire lefebrve, he was a gentlemen and spoke the truth, its just that consecration which ruined everything.
@priest008 Please don't be a fool, the consecration ruined nothing and quite the opposite, it probably SAVED the Catholic Church. Without Ven Lefebvre (Pope Benedict calls him that) we would have lost everything. He was and is a HERO who did God's work. After the predicted events occur soon which lead to the rebirth of the Church he will be immediately canonized. Deo Gratias!
@SaintJude3322 Yes ok, I do also see him as kind of a Hero, but just imagine every bishop just started consecrating his own bishops... what chaos there would be, this is the unity that binds the Church, obedience....also I have learned now that the excommunication didn't come from the Pope thus I think they were invalid, no? Does any one have more info?
@priest008 Splinter sects have always come and gone but not this time, LeFebvre was inspired by the Holy Ghost and as history is proving, he was 100% correct in his actions. Also, the three bad Popes in a row, (valid popes but bad nonetheless) John XXIII, Montini, and JP2 were leading the Church down a freemasonic rat hole. Lefebvre said no but unlike the heretic Luther, he was 100% correct not in violation of any canon laws. JP2 was wrong in his exommunication which is now proven.
@SaintJude3322 No LeFebvre was NOT correct in his actions and was no damn better then Martin Luther. How dare you call the Popes "bad popes" you are engagin in sin by saying that. LeFebvre was a schismatic and an idiot by disobeying the Vatican. The SSPX has consistenly rejected overtures by Pope Bennedict and are schimatic to this day. Lefebvre was wrong in canon law and died a heretic. Get a clue.
@doggsector He was NOT a heretic, perhaps disobedient, but so was Athanasius in his day, and that disobedience was justified for the sake of souls and at the sight of modernism leaking it's poison through the Temple of God, unlike Martin Luther's. I am not SSPX by the way.
Thank God for Benedict XVI! Unfortunately, he came too late. After twenty-six years of the "yankee pope" John Paul II (who had nothing in common with John Paul I but the name), it might take a miracle to bring back the true Mass. Novus Ordo Mass is nothing but the Crammer Mass repudiated by High Church Anglicans. Pray for the soul of Paul VI who unconsciously did so much harm to Holy Mother Church. Marcel R.
You have to note that both of the masses are still valid, and will be valid for ever.
I acknowledge that many novus masses are done very wrong. But here in Europe we still have a lot of churches with !Latin! novus masses, incense, (only) altarboys etc.
Which still are beautiful to me.
Note also that the blessed pope Benedict is still celebrating the novus mass everyday...
It cannot be regarded as false.
But hell, the Tridentine Mass is much more fun ain't it!
Exactly, these traditionalists are too extreme and they end up loosing all their argument which is sad because most of the things they say are right, but when they state ignorant things such as "consecration is invalid without a maniple" is just a sign of mental illness, I love the tridentine mass but I have been to Novous ordo which is done all in latin and very solemn such as Recital of Salve regina at the end and communion at the rails.
@Gspijkenisse Wrong..Paul VI's mass which can of course be valid if done properly and which regretfully is often heretical will go the way of the dodo. Can you look around Europe? Do you see a storm brewing? That storm will directly lead to the rebirth of the Church and the mass you see here, the ONLY mass.
It's Detera Domini. Psalm 117. See Jaco090 below. Yes, it's beautiful. This is the English Translation: The right hand of the Lord hath wrought strength: The right hand of the Lord hath exalted me: the right hand of the Lord hath wrought strength.
I shall not die, but live: and shall declare the works of the Lord.
You are wrong, padre. Vatican II was carefully planned by the enemies of the Church. Judging by your other comments on this video, you are a modernist. Your views have been repeatedly condemned by previous popes. I suggest you read the writings of St. Pius X to see how truly UN-Catholic your brand of "catholicism" really is.
By their fruits ye shall know them. Vatican II is a rotten tree bearing rotten fruit.
I am not a modernist!!!!!, I am actually agaionst the rock masses and all those rubbish things, I am very much in favour of Latin masses, how ever vatican II in itself was not a bad thing!
I am not a modernist!!!, I am indeed very conservative!! I am in favour of having both masses being celebrated, if there are 4 masses on a sunday in 1 parish, 2 must benovous ordo and 2 in tridentine rite, to cater for every ones needs thats what the church is for.
so, your favor towards novus ordo mass including receiving holy communion in hands while standing than kneeling. don't you think you communion with Vatican's error without going against subversion that can jeopardize our souls?
That is certainly true. I could not agree more. But I am nearly 20. And I was brought up with the New Mass.
I was taught to genuflect when entering and leaving a church. And to genuflect before receiving the communion. Which I prefer on my tongue. But since most churches don't have altar rails anymore, no one taught me to kneel on the floor before priest. I still receive the communion standing.
Although I dó like the idea to kneel when receiving the Communion.
Yes but since it's the true body and blood of Jesus Christ you need to kneel, because he it's truly present. Requiem aeternam dona eis Domine, et lux perpetua luceat eis requiescant in pace. Sancte Pio Decimo, Ora Pro Nobis
you can't have both masses if you are truly conservative. novus ordo is a modern mass which has protestant favor while latin mass is a conservative mass until post vatican ii. a real definition of modernist is those who agree with the changes which broke the oath of papal coronation. such changes are sacred mass, language and doctrines and worse is ecumenism. it's totally contradictory. Hmmm...sounds like this belongs to FSSP.
no.. listen I am against comunion in the hands, thats why I receive it in my mouth, but I live my life and let others live theirs, Novous ordo doesnt mean communion in hands by force, many people in my parish receive it in the mouth still.
Even my n.o parish still receiving in hands and it's painful to watch. it's sacrilegious. You have to understand why we can't attend n.o because of the failure to obey the sacred tradition. you must know there are masonic clergies within the church are doing their best to destroy our church. vatican is vatican. thus, the 2nd council is schismatic done by liberal clergy. a true conservative soul is keeping the oath of modernism by pope st.pius x and we can't keep quiet but condemn errors.
NOW Wait a minuite, it's not sacrilegious! the CHuirch has accepted it and if the Church accepts it we must obey it> I personally dislike it and so did mother Theresa, how ever we must live with the fact. We can speak our oppinions of what we think are erros, how ever mwe must keep obedience to the Church.
In which fact of the church doctrine says that communion in hands is not sacrilege? Do you know that even the clergies unaware of St.Thomas Aquinas' that ONLY CONSECRATED HANDS OF THE PRIEST should touch the consecrated sacred host? (summa Pt III Q.82 Art #.3.We cannot receive in hands because our hands are not CONSECRATED but priests'. If n.o church says it's ok to receive in hands, then st.thomas and other popes were wrong about receiving in hands EVEN it had been stressed before. Obedience?
Going to nom will make you confuse about new rite and old rite. why should i go to nom if the church is already corrupted thru its innovation by modernists? if you know the defects that could harm your faith, shud you oblige your sunday worship? the nom is more doubtful because of its 3 things needed for validity which are MATTER, FORM and INTENTION. I reason this fact because it's the CATHOLIC TRADITION which have been existed in centuries. Not from neo-catholic. liberalism is a work of devil
I believe you are of good will, so take what I say as some fraternal correction:
The Mass is not about preferences or "catering to our needs." The Mass is the unbloody re-presentation of the sacrifice of calvary. They are one and the same. GOD deserves the most reverent worship that man can give HIM. The Novus Ordo is, as the present Holy Father has called it, "a banal, on the spot product." Tradition must flourish. Not just the traditional liturgy, but doctrine and practice as well.
agni2007: the church does not say that the vernacular language is the best. the second vatican council, itself, said that Latin is to remain the language of the liturgy, and the vernacular may be employed in specific parts for pastoral reasons. Even then the people are to know their responses to the ordinary in latin. i'm not trying to be arrogant, i'm just trying to dispel the myth that vatican II called for an abandonment of latin masses.
Well put. This is correct -- Vatican II did not call for the abolition of Latin. Nor did it say that the priest faces the people the whole time! Most Catholics don't know these things.
Et expecto resurrectionem mortuorom...yes, yes, yes...at least we have some hope...I feel sorry for thew atheists! MAY GOD BLESS OUR BELOVED POPE BENEDICT XVI! Sebastien Dupratil
Well, do you really expect/believe that some time after your death your body will come to life again? What about those 72 virgins? Will they be there as well? I'm sorry, I must sound very rude, but I had a heavy Catholic upbringing and although the music and the general ceremonial still strikes a chord, the irrationality of 'faith' irritates me intensely. Just because my father (or mother) believed in something doesn't make it true (except in some symbolic way). After my death I believe
i prefer mass in modern language so i can understand better and be more conscious of what I am doing! plus i am not as arrogant as many ppl and I think the church knows what is best for its ppl, thats why i am catholic! i don't moan i just humbly accept what the church says its best for me :)
I'd like to see a traditional mass in vernacular language, just as Bizantines have their liturgy in vernacular, without losing its beauty. probably the only reform that should have been allowed in 1970 was translation into vernacular, everything else just killed the Roman Rite.
well I manage to appreciate the real meaning of the Mass anyway! everytime i manage to feel the surprise and joy of meeting with our Lord Jesus Christ and thats what matters to me! thanks John XXIII thanks Vatican 2!!
You see certain things that the church has done such as, removed the vale from womens heads. You might see these things as silly things how ever sicologically it is true!. first the vale was removed, then the people wanted to enter with short sleeves till the elbow, the church allowed it, now they are entering with straped t-shirts!!
well, church attendence is at an al time low because every one is free to do what on earth they want to. There is no longer that fear of eternal damnation of hell. The church has lost all her control over her people and she has done it herself.
The novus ordo has it fruits? Mass attendance is at an all time low. Nobody beleives in the real presence anymore. Everybody dress like slobs at mass. The mass is no longer a sacrifice but a meal. The mass is pro choice, too many options. You dont what to expect next.
I have seen many good norvus ordo masses that do follow the rubrics by the Vatican. It is sad that the sacred and mystery has disappeared from the Eucharistic celebration. Mass attendance is at an all time low because of the secular world.
SSPX is not in union with Rome but there masses are valid but illicit. Pope Pius X was against the roman missal for the laity. It was published against his will and then became common at mass. Latin is the Language of the church. Pope Benedict reaffirmed that in his apostolic exhortation Sacramentum Caritatis that Latin should be used in mass. The norvus ordo mass has it fruits and is a good mass except for priest with bad formation celebrating it wrong and taking the sanctity out of the mass.
This is a highly illicit Mass of the Society of Saint Pius X. I would highly recommend that no one attend it or any other Mass celebrated by this society.
..then again I agree that certain things should be kept traditional, for example the kyrie eleison and the gloria in excelsis deo, I find no harm in them being done, infact the Pope recently spoke in his angelus that he wants more latin and gregorian hymns. How ever I would ony include latin hymns in special occasions like midnight mass and feasts, other wise they wont remain special, and people will hear them frequently and get sick of them.
I get sick of hearing the English hymns. God doesn't change so why should His Church? Vatican II was a trial or something to get more people to go to church. I don't see the front doors of churches being plowed down by the overwhelming crowds. People don't go to church like they used to. The Latin Mass was the Mass the saints went to. I think both masses should be offered, then the people can choose to go to the Latin or the Novus Ordo. The Latin Mass should be available.
If you are a normal Christian who just attends norml sunday mass, and I am the celebrant and begin saying Credo in unum deum, it doesnt make sense to go back to the past, the church has made a wonederful change that the mass is done in every ones language...
The mass is beautiful, how ever do people understand anything, whats the point? the church must moove with the times, Iagree that certain prayers should still be done in Latin like the Pater Noster because all the people who know it in english & know what they are saying when they say it in latin.
How did they understand?? Father, I am sure you have heard of a missal?? Also I am told these Missals had Latin on one side and English on the other :) Give the people some consideration that they are intelligent beings.
This reminds me of the masses I used to attend during my childhood days in our town in the Philippine islands. I was born a Catholic and will always be until the end of time. Thanks and more power to the Roman Catholic Church. Let's pray for each other.
I love the Latin Mass. It seems so much more holy, personal, & super-encompassing than vernacular Mass as I'm Roman Catholic. I will pray for the restoration of the Latin Mass. I went to a Latin Tridentine Mass for Christmas Eve several years ago, sponsored by the Fraternite de Notre Dame in Chicago. It was so holy and personal. The genuine expression of abandonment of one self to serve our Lord by the celebrant made the Mass so worthy, loving, and climactic. It seems so right.
OH MY GOD HAVE MERCY ON US..This is the TRUE Mass, we have been subject to a counterfeit the last 40 years. LOOK AT ALL WE GAVE UP...LOOK ALL YOU SO-CALLED CATHOLICS. This is the REAL Mass the mass of the martyrs, the mass of all the great saints. This is the true HOLY MASS. Pray that the true church restores its liturgy. Pray for the Catholic Restoration.
Tridentine Mass is so much made of blessed win!

"Et expecto resurrectionem mortuorum" - you, sir, are a brainwashed idiot. Living in Daddy's world. Quite nice music though.

O.K. But you should know that the real meaning of the mass is beyond its words anyway.

Beautiful mass. Every mass should be like this.

SSPX is hot in union with Rome? ahah... is in union.. This is de thrue mass.

there is an enormous possibility , how ever the sspx must not be so old fashioned.
priest008 4 years ago

Vernacular hymns (I almost typed "humns", a Freudian slip?) do have their place, but it is definitely not in the Mass or the Offices!

If you are a normal Christian who just attends norml sunday mass, and I am the celebrant and begin saying Credo in unum deum, it doesnt make sense to go back to the past, the church has made a wonederful change that the mass is done in every ones language...
priest008 5 years ago
The mass is beautiful, how ever do people understand anything, whats the point? the church must moove with the times, Iagree that certain prayers should still be done in Latin like the Pater Noster because all the people who know it in english & know what they are saying when they say it in latin.
priest008 5 years ago
