  • 11:56 FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

  • Is this show on DVD now?

  • @ozmorphus I fucking wish.

  • Good job i like you video n_n

  • I remenber when a was a child saw this cartoon and nown i known a game named "Mechwarriors" several models of mech in the cartoon appear in the game

  • @PetitDragon777 Same universe bro.

  • Not the best audio quality, but I can make due. Thanks for uploading this series!

I like how the show makes a point of saying the protagonists basically cannot beat the Clans in a straight up Mech fight. Even when they came up with a pretty decent strategy, the tech gap simply brought the clans over it. The protagonists only got away by shear luck. It's far better than a show where they barrel through easily.

  • @Bluecho4 Add to that, even when massive reinforcements show up, its pretty likely this would have been a turkey shoot for the clanners. The only thing that saved them here was Clan military protocol

  • Exo Squad looks better

  • @SasNolan True, their animation studio was definitely higher-grade, but I always hated how everyone had the back of their head shaved.

Then there's the little story of how Playmates (maker of Exosquad toys) blatantly ripped off the Madcat/Timberwolf design for a "Heavy Assault E-Frame". There are toy catalog pictures of it out there online. Thankfully, they were sued before they could get away with it.

  • @SwordRoy The clans do break their own code, but only if their enemy doesn't honor the code of battle. The clans fight proxy battles to reduce the amount of resources used and civilian deaths for both sides, whereas the IS generally fights all out to win, d@m the cost and the civilian death count.

If you want more information, look for one of the battle tech wikis.

  • whats with the 3d?!

  • I love when stiener cuts off the hunchback's arm, instead of hitting it somewhere useful.

  • This could be the worst rendition BattleTech yet.

"You already gave him your 'Mech, why not just give him your SOUUUULLLL?"

  • And seriously?! Battlemechs for civil security?! No one does that.

  • @Significantpower

Light class Battlemechs as security units are pretty much cannon

  • @strawberryalarmcl0ck I seem to remember merc groups using Mechs against civilians getting them blacklisted. And most Sphere states/Clans (certain Periphery states and the Smoke Jaguars excluded) consider Mechs overkill against civil unrest and prefer to use standard infantry or Battle Armor at the most.

  • @Significantpower Look, all I'm saying is, you see a no parking sign, you don't fucking park there, alright.

  • that sounds like such a cliche

"they made one big mistake, they attacked my home planet!!" XD

  • If that Mauler was equipped with 2 ER Large Lasers, 2 Gauss Rifles and LRMs, it could have easily smoked that Vulture and Hunchback II.

  • @iHateSpoilerz Not exactly. My brothers and I did a test on this a long time ago, Clan Mech vs IS Mechs. Clan Mechs can pretty much take on any IS equivalent Mech, and any up to 20-25 tons heavier than itself. The Mauler, like the Vulture/Mad Dog, is a long range unit. However, the V/MD packs pulse lasers for close range. It's also far faster than the Mauler, which makes it harder to hit. Verdict, They'd be about toe-to-to with each other, but my money would be on the V/MD.

  • @Siolfor80 Oh,ok. The My Mauler weapon configuration was in Mechwarrior4. Stuffing Clan/ER weapons in your mech allows you to own other Clan mechs. Figures, lol

  • @iHateSpoilerz Yeah, that tends to make a HUGE difference. Given this fight takes place before the Inner Sphere got it's hands on enough CLan Tech to tip the balance, the Vulture/Mad Dog was a beast of a machine. The Timberwolf/Mad Cat even moreso.

  • Pause at 10:26 Mech Sizing fail lol how'd that Mauler get so big?

  • Comment removed

  • Great episode, brings back loads of great memories!! Thanks for the uploas. Shame the audio is a bit messed up on this one tho.

  • Cool use of the speeder bike sound effect from Return of the Jedi; when the aerofighter swoops over the Clan mechs at 09:00.

  • @GeneralThornton I am leaning towards the original tron movie sound fx, but they all bikes.

  • Oh No! They have set up us the bomb! We will not survive, we must make our time. All our base are belong to them!

  • since when do Centurions have jump jets...?

  • @GhostBear3067 Have you ever heard of 'Customisation" on 'mechs"? Since you posted your comment, I'm assuming you didn't. Pathetic.

  • @Gallowell

My mistake, I forgot about the CN9-D9, so it is possible.

  • @No worries. I've mistaken a few of the weapons as well, so I can't really talk

  • So.... Clan Honor Rules Level 4?

  • I honestly would have liked this show if the cut the terrible-looking CG and stuck with hand-drawn goodness. I respect them for taking a chance though... Shame it didn't work out.

  • @crazy88boss For a show of the mid 90s, the CGI was cutting edge. I enjoy it still. Refreshing from some of the CGI crap you see in today's cartoons for the kids (most of which is not even needed)

  • @Gallowell True enough, but the CG wasn't really on par with the animation imo. I guess they needed it to stand apart from similar-looking cartoons. GI Joe comes to mind...

  • well the IS force broke it first by retreating, so zell wasnt in effect from then on

learn all of the rules of clan combat before complaining ;)

also this is one of those shows where they have too much going wrong to even try to start complaining

  • im digging the color on the mauler lol

  • VHS to the rescue!

  • while fun to watch, this is obviously inner sphere propoganda! The noble Jade Falcon would never break Zelbringen unless others broke it first!

  • @Korraganitar Guess you can't trust those Inner Sphere surats quiaff?

  • @Symos aff!

  • Great series but it did´nt survive past season one wich was sad!

  • I remeber when this series came too childrens channel wich I recorded on VHS(wich was worthless to begin with) The series was really good but sadly never seemed to survive past season one!

Anyone know how to get them on DVD?

  • better than anime in 1,000,000,000,000 ways!

  • have to say my favorite mech was a highlander, the wardog after that.

  • summoners and timberwolves are my favorite mechs, the right weapony combos with speed and armor.

  • Why does Nicolae's mech (and other thors for that matter) look different to the official summoner?

  • @Symos Its custom

  • gribae you got it all wrong no one weapon is better than the othere one must master combo of mechs that work well with each othere look at the hunchback it need long range cover a archer is best for this mission and the arch can count on the hunchback for close CQC if you fight me I kill ever one of your mechs out right

  • Malthus is coooooooool.

  • This was ok but exosquad was a lot better.

  • I think that they should of started in the series in the beginning. So the people who do not know Battletech know what it is all about. I have just started reading the books and they are wonderful. BTW- I used to play battletech and if I read the books before hand, it would of made a lot of sense then. labelashavoc (:~>?=

  • Wade in there with a Daishi loaded with 3 Large Lasers and 2 AC120's.....

  • Wow. You guys get INTO it. You're even talking like Clanners. I feel like I'm home. Better stop with the contractions.

  • @recniabsal Good times, indeed....FREEBORN!!!

  • Seyla

  • This is one of those moments where you need a few assault class mechs loaded with autocannons and gauss rifles.

  • which runs out of ammo if over used

  • True, but you just gotta load up enough ammo and shoot smart.

  • ya but only problem is that when you stock up on to much ammo your mech is to overweight to be able to use any of the good stuff lol

  • Yeah, that's true. IS weaponry ain't all that good — especially the ballistic weaponry. I also have to admit that when I make mechs they generally have energy weapons and/or missile weapons. I hardly ever use ballistics.

  • I never used ballistic weapons. Energy all the way. Learn to master the heat and you master the battlefield.

  • hahaha i hear that, but i love AC's.

  • @TheFrostedLlama My favorite is actually an AC/20 combined with a gauss rifle... its like bringing a grenade launcher to the gunfight at the OK corral...

  • @gribae tell that to my AC/20

  • this is awsome

  • Running away from combat, thats not like the clans.

  • @depholade depends on the clan :P

  • @robspartan117 This show is obviously pure freebirth propaganda. The clans always fight with honor.

  • @depholade thats not true at all. main example - TURTLE BAY

  • @robspartan117 Clan Smoke Jaguar's actions at turtle bay were disgraceful. killing civilians from orbit. They are Dezgra.

  • @depholade its not retrating, its regrouping

  • I find it interesting that they could drop a Maddog like that without destroying it. I mean, that mech doesn't have jets, does it? So a drop like THAT would be worse than a failed DFA attempt. ;)

  • Heh. I have some hilarious stories about failed DFA's. They involve jumping from elevation 6 buildings and failing entirely. But those are for another time.

  • @xxMachineGunKellyxx I like how those CJF mechs jump down when the dropships are descending. I'd be laughing out loud if they busted their actuators from that.

    *CRUNCH* "whoops, that was dumb!"

  • If they followed the norm of BT/MW, they should have busted them. Even from that height, with jump jets, they couldn't land without seriously damaging something.

I guess this is the result of it being aimed at a children-based audience though.

  • These Clanners are breaking their own code of Honor, The Zellbringen! 2 clanners to 1 innersphere Mechwarrior, shooting at the backs of their enemies, and shooting downed mechs; Clear violation of Zellbringen. Our Ares conventions I can understand, but their own code of honor? At least we "freeborn scum" almost always follow the Ares Conventions...

  • Zellbrigen was different for each of the clans. 2 25 ton lights engaging a 75 ton heavy was considered perfectly fine under Zell. As was maneuvering to hit the rear armor on an enemy and shooting a prone enemy.

You're probably getting your info on Zell from Sarna. Word to the wise: They're a wiki, their information is not accurate. You're better off reading the novels and CBT sourcebooks.

  • Yes, but they're still breaking it because there's one medium (Hunchback IIC) and one heavy (Mad Dog).

  • To explain how the ares convention applies you must qoute an old old long dead man. "its more as a set of guidelines then rules"

  • @SwordlordRoy

jade falcon always was the whiniest and most dirty of the clans

  • @SwordlordRoy

you're forgetting that according to the creators, this cartoon exists in-universe as FedCom propaganda

  • @Guyect

huh, i didnt kn ow that lol

  • @SwordlordRoy The Falcons were always notable for their lack of adherence to Clan ideals when fighting "lesser" warriors. It's only a minor breach if your opponent can barely be considered a warrior at all, quiaff?

  • @SwordlordRoy

well the IS force broke it first by retreating, so zell wasnt in effect from then on

learn all of the rules of clan combat before complaining ;)

also this is one of those shows where they have too much going wrong to even try to start complaining

  • @robspartan117 zell is still in effect if the IS retreat, the only record of zell not being in effect and as such, no code of honour would be during huntress :)

  • @HespIsJohnGalt no, zell is broken when a force turns tail and retreats and shows their backs.

actually a lot of clans gave up zell before/during operation serpent and bulldog. ghost bear and wolf were two of the first to throw that idea out the door.

  • @robspartan117 Clan Jade Falcon was perhaps the last to give it up (if they even gave it up at all) since they were the most bound to the ideals of Clan ways and life.

  • @Gallowell thats debatable at best. each clan's society is different, and each believes that their way of interpreting of how a clan should operate is correct.

the jade falcons gave on many occasions, just it was always after they got their noses bloodied. thats why for a while they didnt attack anyone, they provoked too many people and ended up being pushed back into their territory with only a few clusters to protect it all.

you must be a falcon fan. ;P

not to mention they had a civil war

  • @HespIsJohnGalt Well, that was a Trial of Annihilation, so very little of the Clan honour system would have stayed in place for that.

  • @Gallowell wrong, their are clan rules of engagement for every trial.

  • @SwordlordRoy Well, all of us except the Drunk on Heaven Blakists. The FWL can keep 'em.

  • @SwordlordRoy well remember that the clans didnt think that the spheroids didnt have the honor to deserve such an honor unless it was against a force that was known to at least be able to hold its own against them.

plus the falcons are always without honor

  • @robspartan117 do not disrespect the falcons or be prepared to face a Trial of Grievance

  • @depholade i do not acknowledge your authority to such a trial, or any trial for that matter

    :D

PWND (just playing of course, because im a Wolf fan - we've beaten you on more than 3 occasions, so not terribly worried)

  • Comment removed

  • @robspartan117 I clame my right of a trial of bloodright as myself being in holding of the bloodname Roshak. Seeing on how it is not up to you to decide if I have a clame or not, your opinion matters little. The decision is up to the Clan Councle.

(MW4:Mercs is free now days so if you think you've got what it takes, message me and we'll bring this to an honor duel. Of course, provided we fallow the rules of honor strictly and appoint a councle of equals)

  • @depholade I'll gladly take you up on an honour duel. Any time, and to any of your specifications. I'll even use a Dasher against any of the Assault-class you and others like you prefer to choose.

I've taken down 2 Dire Wolves and a Timber Wolf in nothing but a Crab.

  • @SwordlordRoy could be they are really die hard crusdars and have declared this bunch to be dezgra.

  • @SwordlordRoy Super late comment (sorry about that) but this cartoon was known for basically throwing the canon to the winds. Battlemechs in space, Clanners acting like mercs, you name it.

  • @Significantpower Yet BattleMechs CAN operate in space - as evidenced in the game: MechWarrior 2: Mercenaries and detailed in a number of BattleTech and MechWarrior books

  • @Significantpower Mechs can operate in spaces, just need jump jets or magnetic tethers (both mentioned in the books). The clans in the series didnt act like mercs, they always go to a planet and ask, "With what will you defend yourselves?" How the IS planet leaders respond is up to them. If the more illegal groups saw an advantage (since the clans operate on a caste), the illegal groups could get away with what they want.

  • @Siolfor80

i know what jump jets are but magnetic tethers what are those, also do jump jet have infinite fuel???

  • @octoslut Magnetic tethers are essentially muscle wire bundles (like the same stuff that allows mechs to move) that allow a mech to operate in Lo-G environments. If they ever float off, they put energy to the tether, and snap back to the surface they're attached. As for jump jets, they require time to build up reaction mass. Mech dont use fuel at all (except low tech versions). They can jump for as long as needed, but only until the reaction runs out.

  • @Siolfor80 i am a huge gundam fan but prefer the battletech universe to gundam universe. reason is simple mechs are not overpowered, have more variety in models then gundam, plot compared to most gundam series is better. do you know if they make mech model kits???

  • @octoslut Model Kits, miniature games (Battletech, Mechwarrior: Dark Ages), books (which is where i found out about the tethers), etc. It was pretty popular back in the 90s before wizkids bought it out (and honestly screwed it the hell up). The best known kit is for the Mad Cat/Timberwolf (the mech with the chicken legs and a box of missle launchers over each shoulder). Whether or not they still make it, I dunno . . . it was about $80 about 10 years ago.

  • @Siolfor80

lol i know what a madcat is, its like the most famous mech along with atlas, vulture. i would love to see the battletech universe be revived.

  • @octoslut Sorry about that, dunno who does/doesn't know the mechs and their designations. As far as reviving the universe, there was a rumor going around that FASA is trying to get the rights to it again. True or not, dunno.

  • "Initiating enhanced 3D"

    What?

  • Damn, I miss cheezy animated shows like this. Especially Battletech!

  • Clanners are such nerds

  • Bah! you innersphear surats are the nerds! your fire power is inferior to ours! we will make you regret that comment! i challenge you to a trial of equals!

  • Lol nice!

  • A trial of grievance?

  • No, trial of equals, to see WHO is the better mechwarrior.

  • a trial of tits

  • The intersphere has low graded weopons clanners win

  • Too true. Thats why my mercs always steal the very best. My arsenal is always kept chockfull of clanner weapons :)

  • Hey!! Its was acting like packrats and scavangers that helped us tip the clans tech advantage. "information is ammunition " Like Major Adam said. And we got ALOT OF INFORMATION from strippng down every single bit of clan tech would steal with our freedom born hands. yeah thats right I SAID FREEDOM BORN.. ya damn trashcan babies. Ya know eugenics even if done right can lead to genentic illnesses of the brain..... Guess that explains clan arrogance.

  • Im saying in the Games inner sphere weopons do less damage. and Clan weopons do way more and there recycle time is quicker. Clan Lrms can lock onto targets from further distances.

  • In the games, books AND animation, everything about the Clans is superior (except their attitude). But that is only because they didn't spend the last 300 years bogged down in the endless Succession Wars and could concentrate on technological advancements.

  • lol thy forgot to search for weapons before throwing them in jail...

  • Down with the IS

  • GOD FORBID THEY SEARCH THE PRISONERS.

  • "How do you know I didn't make copies" Always gets them.

  • Man the sound quality on this vid is HORRIBLE!

  • you wont find anything better, i can tell you that. i have been looking for good quality vids for forever.

  • at least it's synced.

  • at least we can watch it.

  • The only mechwarrioirs ive ever played are 2 and 4. I dont remember much from the 2 but i still play the 4. Im not very good at it XD. Love these cartoons!!! Hope tehy bring em back but w/ a bottomless budget lol.

  • play 3

  • 4 is better then 3, although i really enjoyed 3 aswell.

  • sure

  • GREAT AUDIO QUALITY.

  • LOL

  • Wizkids is the devil. Bring me FASA or bring me DEATH!

  • Well, I find the whole casting the clans as your typical evil exceedingly cliche and boring; not to mention against the classical battletech depiction. Then again, I guess this tv show was marketed to 8 year olds. And of course we can't have ambiguity in our good and evil when it comes to childrens television shows; we need to dumb everything down.

  • Good point, there are interesting points for the Inner Sphere/Clan political system.

Though since the Clans are Socialists, I wouldn't want to live under a pure Caste-type system where your family's labor assignment is on family history (so if your dad's a factory worker, you will be also.)

If I lived in the fictional Battletech universe I'd prefer living in the Federated Suns or in the Free Worlds League pre-Word of Blake jihad era. Rasalhague would also be nice- the only true I.S democracy.

  • Or marketed to people in general who dont give a rats behind about BT politics. Who just watch tv.

  • And I suppose you prefer the traditional approach to villians, wearing all black and have long moustaches and sinister laughs?

  • You didn't read what MetaVita was actually saying. The Battletech storyline doesn't really paint the clans with the "Snidely Whiplash" brush that most cartoons depict.

I'd say the most horrible thing that ever happened in the history of BT was the Kentares IV Massacre - though that is definitely not suitable for a Saturday-morning cartoon.

  • Excluding the canonical errors and sloppy animation in parts, the animated series isn't too bad. Could have been much better, but what more could you do with a limited budget. :D

  • fuck the enhanced imaging...

  • Sound in first one was alot better :s

  • Sorta suffers from character introductionitis but I'm a fan of anything BT so whatever

  • Oh man this used to come on just after or two shows after War Planets, one of the shows that fit my highlight Sunday mornings on UPN.

  • i never knew that there was a show based on mechwarrir battlemechs.

  • I should mention that the "Mechwarrior" games are based on the boardgame "Battletech".

"Battletech" released in the early-to-mid eighties, and continued until the death of FASA in 2000, after which Wizkids picked it up.

Sadly, it hasn't regained the popularity it once had.

  • It should be noted that the original founder of FASA and his new company now have the rights to Mechwarrior and other FASA interactive titles again. This happend recently (december 6th) and if you do a search you can read all about it.

  • Wonderful!

What's the name of the new company? *IS* it Wizkids, or did the guy starts something new entirely, and buy the rights back from Wizkids?

  • This new company is Smith & Tinker, I believe. Seems to be out to develop gaming on teh internets instead of the "old fashioned" tabletop pnp stuff. I always loved the rich universes on those FASA IPs. Should be interesting.

  • Yea unfortunatley video games lead to the death or at least steep decline of many strategy / pen and paper game companys.

  • How on *earth* did they get a Centurion to fly THAT far?

  • Install jump jets

  • hey do u have anymore vids u can post ty

  • This was one of the major goofs of the series: The mechs take alot to overheat, and overheating does not equal explosion. However, if they redid the series right now, it'd be fucking awesome.

  • I am me; driving a blood kite.

  • wolf dragoons

  • finally some one with mercenary sense

  • If you are new to Battletech try reading: Battletech: Legend of the Jade Phoenix, Volume 1. I beleive that this book is the best intro to the the B-Tech universe. It got me "HOOKED" , and I still read it. I am still re-reading all my "Tech" books, they are the best works of sci-fi literature... In my opinion!

  • the Aidan Pryde's story.

One of the well written set of books this side of original's Dune books.

  • I should clarify that depending on the age group, some sci-fi books will be better suited than others. I agree, the Dune series is very ceribral and the sci-fi is non-par, but then again, it requires a mature audience. My comment was directed to a younger audience, and as such Battletech is among the best.

  • ::nod in absolute agreement::

  • Good story, true, but the number of convenient head hits Aidan and company got was nothing short of biblical...!

  • I have to agree with the Doctor on that: Aidan Pryde is given god-like luck, and so many of the fight scenes defy anything resembling normal gameplay (by that I mean the *original* board game, not the Mechwarrior PC games). I enjoyed The Jade Phoenix trilogy at age 15, when I didn't know what good reading was.

Seriously, Michael Stackpole and Robert Keith Jr. are both much better authors, in my opinion. They also contributed MUCH more to the development of the Battletech universe.

  • amen to that! Love Mike and Rob's work. I really liked the Blood of Krensky Trilogy and the Jade Phoenix Trilogy.

  • *sigh* if only it would load.

  • I am Clan Ghost Bear.
