The musical muscle flexed on this album is second to none by anything created by these gentlemen. Yes, early, it was balls to the wall, but this album was ahead of it's time, and a throwback all at the same time. Cheers to a timeless song, from a timeless album, from a timeless band.
definitely the most versatile and musical band of their generation..they managed to absolve themselves from that whole "grunge" stereotype and continued to make great music well after grunge was a spec in time in the history of rock..The Foos managed to do it as well ! although i still listen to and love the music from that period like Sound garden, Alice in Chains,..
What this song doesn't say is what really speaks to me, it tells me to keep my jaw high with stiff resolve when hopelessness is close behind me. The lead guitar is very well thought out and fits brilliantly.
This is a powerful, soulful offering from the Stone Temple Pilots that never got the attention it deserved. Though the song is great from start to finish, it's the ending that always gets to me; the hollow sounds of the guitars slowly fading have a haunting quality, almost as if to suggest the emptiness of being a heroin addict.
@mistabook That's because when it came out, at least there were other good bands on the go. Now in a world of repetitive earworms and thoughtless dubsteps, STP stands out like Jessica Alba at a cheap bar.
What i discovered about this song is that no matter how badly I have some shitty stuck in my head and how consuming it is, this is only only song i can recall, if I think about it that opening riff pops up perfectly in my head and clears out whatever song was stuck in my head. The cure to shitty annoying pop songs. Someone else let me know if it works the same for them so i can know if its the song or just the song specific to me.
I tend to think that there's a different song for everyone that works similar to this. For example I do love this song, but the song that really works for me is Pearl Jam's Even Flow.
There is something about this song. Never quite able to put my finger on it, but it kinda just felt right every time I heard it, like I was somehow tuned to the same frequency or tempo of it. Feels natural like everyday life. Always liked hearing it...
UNREAL INTO.. STEADY AND THE EPITOME OF ROCK.. (LIKE FIRST 15 SECONDS)..NOT EXTAVAGANT.<3

If I had a nickel for every time I skipped ahead to this track...I'd have a sh*tload of nickels.

His vocal style on this reminds me of Anthony Keidis a bit. Scott Weiland's photo should be next to the definition of "versatile" in the dictionary.
