You are crazy. The villain was 2 dimensional, the heroes are strait out of Beverly Hills 90210, the plot had no moral compass, the science was unbelievable, the plot points were Star Wars based and you need a comic book to understand what is going on. Gen Roddenberry spins in his grave whenever someone says "This honors the original Star Trek" because it does not. It is an insult to Star Trek. Oh and I liked Enterprise; yes it had growing pains and a larger than necessary bugdet, which I would imagine did not help keep it going... but the actors IMHO (w/ the exception of T'pol) were the least awkward in getting in the groove of the character of a series. Perhaps it was b/c it was closer to our time period. If only one good thing came from it I guess it would have to be that they explained the bad Klingon makeup from TOS...lol

Not seen it but that's because I assumed that it would be crap. These last few years hollwood seems to have been raping every book, game and franchise with absolute bullshit movies.

Funnily enough, I loved the movie. Saw it three times and went dressed as Captain Kirk on opening night. Completely agree with everything you said about it too.

Also, I loved Nemesis and hated Enterprise.

1. Nemesis kicked ass and featured one of the best sci-fi villains ever.

2. The trekkie world broke into an alleluia chorus when Suckerprise was canceled. 3.  This movie was really just your generic shoot-em-up action movie. Well worth the ride, don't get me wrong, but it wasn't great. Good, but it doesn't stand up next to Nemesis or The Voyage Home. Trek has been mainly internal since Search for Spock, making for great characters. This movie does a little of that, but not enough.

i said the same thing about the micheal bay transformers movies (aka bayformers) he clearly had the terminator series in mind and meny other movie's. its a shame that movie's now all have to be the same. i wonder what trek show he means, but i always felt TOS had the most 'human' crew. also clever plot? well...if we accept the blackhole timetravel thing, than the blastwave of the supernova would have traveled back as well destroying the galaxy in 2233. just one plothole. clever?

A fun movie, it keeps you interested throughout. Spock coming to terms with the loss of his mother and struggling to keep out his human, emotional side and stay focused at the task at hand, that was smart and deep. But what about Checkov? Distracting at first with the accent, but still... Great movie.

Star Trek was smart? It was an enjoyable action romp, no doubt but it had a plot that was ludicrous even by time travel and Star Trek standards. Even the prequel comic they released - which I've read a synopsis of - was a desperate attempt to patch up the plot holes.

It's a fun film but I'm really struggling to see how it qualifies as "smart". I'd say it glided close to big dumb action film, if not for the very solid casting and characters... Kirk Jr. not withstanding.

This movie was amazing. I went in the theaters with very little Star Trek knowledge, and I came out wanting to know more. The story was magnificent, it kept me thinking even when I was driving home. 10/10

I wasn't familiar with the charachters of the movie, but I think they were all very nicely developed, everyone was pretty much an asshole in some way, and I really found that entertaining. The settings was beautiful, the specieleffects was awesome and I really enjoyed the music.

I watched this movie yesterday and I actually thought it was really good. That may have something to do with the fact that I know absolutly NOTHING about Startrek, I just generally enjoy sci fi movies and nothing is more awesome than huge spacebattles and stuff like that.

I really hate the Trekkies.

They make it so difficult to be a fan of any of the old Star Trek series'.

As soon as you admit you're a fan, you're automatically classified as one of the RPG hyper-obsessive freaks who worries about how fast the ship can really go.

I'm a fan; I collect some stuff; I love most of the series'. That's as far as it goes.

I tried really hard to find something to complain about, something I could highlight that others might want to know about but I just couldn't hence the gold award my highest rating. I really try to keep these reviews short but it seems I go off when there's a lot to complain about. Star Trek is just a fine film.

I saw it on Friday night and I nearly shed a tear....at the scene where the red matter was released and it did that silent effect into the red matter bonding to form the giant black hole.....damnnnnn the whole movie was incredible.

I'd have to agree all the way with what you've said Fury. All these films have epicness on their own levels. Star Trek being a t.v. show and sci-fi action genre and TDK being a comic book action genre. Either way, it's a win-win situation. Great vid.

OMG !! I just got home from watching it.. I loved it. To be honest I have never been much of a Star Trek fan...biggest reason is the one you mentioned about everyone feeling emotion-less.

This movie was smart, and had very nice visuals with a lot action scenes. Now I agree that Star Trek was never meant to be an action movie..but this one works. Zachary Quinto and Eric Bana were EXCELLENT. I was kind of disappointed to see how underused Bana was. He was great as Nero. The whole cast was great

I actually can't wait to see this. I've always love the Star Trek films like Wrath of Khan (best one), Search for Spock, First Contact & Nemisis. Those are my favs of the series. The only thing I have aganist this movie is no Shatner. He could have just made a Cameo at least or an old video recording before Generations. They should have asked him.
