People seem to have this misconception that "science" has a single view when only individual scientists do. Many things scientists can't agree on. As an example, the man that won the Nobel prize for discovering how neurons interact actually wrote a book discussing how the brain the mind were two different things and the soul was non-physical entity which controlled the body via the brain.
This is because neither mind no body stands on its own and arises out of its own will. This means there is no independent entity residing as a self or soul in us.

There may be some Buddhists who do speak of a soul, but that is only what they use to represent our emotional center or to represent the our present minds.

The idea of soul in Buddhism is not just confused due to semantics.
In Buddhism you have the concept of "dependent co-origination" (pratitya samutpada) which means that nothing is permanent or self-existing. Everything arises dependent upon causes and conditions, and everything is in fact connected and dependent upon everything else. To become enlightened is to see things as they are - to see through the illusions created by the discriminating mind.

The idea of any kind of permament self or soul is rejected in Buddhism as illusory. (Anatta)
In that respect Buddhism is the only religion which is compatible with the insights of modern neuroscience and the physicalist theory of the mind, which states that the "self" is merely an illusion created by the brain.

The Body is what you see, The Mind is the spirit, which records experiences, and the soul is eternal, which you have with you when you pass from life to life, and what your mind/spirit records in its lifes experiences, gets recorded in the soul, and as you go through many lifes, your soul "grows" so to speak. one species that has reached the final stages of ALL realization and awareness is HUMANS!!!!!! dont let people or societies tell you WHAT to think, but rather teach yourself HOW to think.

If the soul is infinite, then we are spiritual beings having a physical experience. Which says to me the physical experinece is quite unique. And if we can rediscover that infinite state while in physical form. Life would be bliss everyday.

This is a conclusion we can make if we study near death experience (NDE)

Cool, the theorem that everything is connected to everything has some interesting consequences. Its even possible to prove mathematically! But how can we derive the abstract concept, or possibility, of what we call "soul"? NDE seems too controversial to gain a general acceptance.

Yes I agree. Actually,I have no certainty about anything....I said in my last comment life is more than work etc... but we are here in this phisical world, as spiritual being having a physical experience or physical beings having spiritual experience but as far as I know we ' re here so we ' re supposed to play the game of this world, money, carrer consommation, chalenges.."Spiritual people says that what we are really is a higher self or soul and that we must find our true nature..

I don't think we ' re here for that I think we ' re here to create ourselves and not find ourselves.... I think there' s no ultimate or absolute truth...we don't need to seek it...
just my view there are so many beliefs about this and that , no certainty no real knowledge, we ' re likely to go to the belief systems or religion that appeal to us... but in the end all this are just concepts...no truths...

I grew up protestant and attended different protestant churches and private schools, Church of Christs, Lutheran, Baptist and Episcopalian.
Most protestant churches I went to seemed to NOT beleive in bodily resurrection.
Personally, I think the idea of bodily resurrection is one of the more stupid religious ideas anyone ever came up with.

Quantum Physics is one of many Scientific "tools" that concludes "our lives all connected, and that there is "one" consciousness that connects us all". The recognition/reflection of self awareness is an example of what "soul" can be.

I can't say for sure honestly. I think the minority would believe in a bodily resurrection; Both Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses beleive in a bodily resurrection. The Majority of Christians are Catholic and I don't think they do beleive in a bodily resurrection but I could be wrong.

There is anything to be skeptical about in this video. All it does is quote several different religious scriptures on the subject of the soul.
You don't have to beleive in the soul to understand this is what different religious believe about it.
It's totally ok to learn about other view points even if they don't agree with yours.

Thats simply because of all world religions, Hinduism has the most to say about the soul. All these quotes were taken from a world scripture website. Also the Hindu Veda would comprise several large volumes. They are far larger than Christian Bible or the Koran. The woman in the video is a Christian as well.

From what I've read, the belief system of scientology is very similar to Hinduism. The concept of the soul, karma, transmigration of the soul. They use different terms for some of the things, but the many basic concepts are in common.

People seem to have this misconception that "science" has a single view when only individual scientists do. Many things scientists can't agree on. As an example, the man that won the Nobel prize for discovering how neurons interact actually wrote a book discussing how the brain the mind were two different things and the soul was non-physical entity which controlled the body via the brain.

This is because neither mind no body stands on its own and arises out of its own will. Neither is there one who owns the mind and does the thinking(a soul) because even the thought "my mind" occurs nowhere else but the mind. This means there is no independent entity residing as a self or soul in us.

The Buddha taught that everything conditioned is impermanent, suffering, and anatta(not-self). Seeing that all that we consider to be our selves(body,mind, and its mind-states) are conditioned by our experiences it must then have the characteristic of anatta(not-self).
