who knows where i can find some stuff by the piano player ( michael snow ), ive been looking everywhere but this gig is the only footage of him i know
1972 was a good year for BYE BYE JOHNNY but the best versions weren't being played on some TV show set. It was being played on the stages of auditorium's and arena's across the USA and Canada by a band named THE ROLLING STONES. Full bore, high speed versions featuring guitarists Keith Richards and Mick Taylor, propelled by drummer Charlie Watts and bassist Bill Wyman and sung by some guy named Mick Jagger. Sources say the Stones version was being fueled by illegal substances.....
@HectorIglesiasXC It's not actually not true. The chords to a song like Maybelline, Roll Over Beethoven or Come On are different. There is of course a certain 3-chord blues structure that is apparent troughout, but that isn't strange if you invented the rock & roll genre.
I have been a rocker all my life, thanks to Chuck Berry! Hail, Hail Rock and roll.
I just now took up the guitar and aspire to capture some of Chuck berry's rocking songs and will not rest until I can "Play a guitar like ringing a Bell"
brilliance, I can't get bored watching this stuff. The guy just has "it". He writes great songs, plays with the skill of a master, sings well, and has tons of energy. If Elvis is better, I must be on another planet. He's my King of Rock n Roll. We all should bow to Berry's great contributions to music and making the world smile for over 60 years, well done CHUCK.
@buchananstreet - Actually on a 45 record with My Ding A Ling even though the beginning is Bye Bye Johnny and then goes into Johnny B Goode. The side that features Bye Bye Johnny was called Johnny B Goode. There was three songs that talked about Johnny B Goode. So Yes it is Johnny B Goode and No it is not Johnny B Goode.
ghdtreb: It was the TV networks policy. You'll notice this alot with European audiences & also in the USA. (doesn't mean they didn't absorb it though) Similar to the way Elvis's "Comeback" in 1968 was filmed. Can you recall how wooden the audience looked?
Dreagel: Yes, the thing is Chuck is a hard man to control..maybe the audience were. This night Chuck gave one of the most risque versions of "Reelin' & Rockin" and came near to being censored onstage. The BBC wouldn't play much from the album that followed except a heavily edited version of "Ding-a-Ling". Chuck's a scream!
yea! great power on the upload the volume cooks! can you put in the discription Michael Snow Piano? so people can find him when searching. there is nothing in all of tube with his name, amazing! rellin rockin 1972 has him playing his ass off like this
Este cantautor era unico yo toco muy bien la guitarra casi como el pero no igual

ghdtreb; I was actually in the audience for this concert. I can tell you we were TOLD not to get too excited for the cameras.
taildragger51 2 years ago
That's really interesting. Why weren't you allowed to get excited? was it one of chuck berry's wierd rules again?

True that, unfortunately...
Great artists like Berry and this kind of audience, they don´t match quite well :/
At least one thing is true, the music gets better, becase of not having any background noise, but it´s not the same thing :(
