this was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. One of those things that you have to be there to experience but this is definitely a great video of it.
he talked way too much at this show, i didn't want to hear about the evils of George Bush and the war (though i agreed with him), i just wanted to rock out, however i did enjoy the hottie stranger chicks all E'd out make'n out and rub'n all over me.
HE WOULD NOT SHUT UP AT THAT SHOW!! i'm from oklahoma so i've seen them a lot and was pumped about watching them late night at bonnaroo. his speaches were killing my mood so i bailed and went to the silent disco =)
wow, i thought i was going to get flamed the fuck up for my criticism, i'm glad someone else agreed, I dig the lips a lot, this however was not one of my favorites.. but, Broo 07 was a great year over all,
@Jkoop420 He's like that at every show. I saw Flaming Lips play The Soft Bulletin in London and he just wouldn't stop. If doing a show like that, it's fair enough if you want to reminisce about the recording or story behind a song every so often, but it just buggered up the show for me. The studio recording of the tracks they played, together clock in at about 60 minutes, and the jamming stuff (Intro, Laser Hands etc) another 10. They were on for 100 minutes in total. That's how bad he can be!
I was there in the front row! every time i see the flaming lips it changes and opens my way of thinking! The laser pointers were awesome, they did the same thing at atp2009 but it was way more intense since there was only about 1200 people in a tiny room all with lasers!!!! But you cant beat bonnaroo crowd though!!!!!!!!!
You only see light that is reflected off something. Normally the laser beam has nothing to reflect off of until it hits something at the end, but here there's tons of smoke and dirt in the air.
mine too i got like 6 lazer pointers and handed them to my friends. I was wxed out my skull. we missed most of Goverment mule though. after the lips were done i literally ski[pped to the unquencheable havoc that was goct mule. I got to see them play war pigs tho!
We waited around after Franz Ferdinand, so we could be as close to the stage as possible - I estimate we got within 10 feet. Police-shmolice! We chanted and sang for four hours until Wayne came out and they "sound checked" "War Pigs" (shhhh, don't tell anyone). The guy in the Superman suit tossed out laser pointers. I still have mine. I've always wanted to be one of the sexy alien chicks dancing on stage. Alas, I am endowed with a Santa Claus chick body instead.
dude, i love lasers so much i would just pay to watch them and their show and leave. I Buy laser shit all the time!!! I'm about to buy this ckub laser thing from guitar center, it's 499 but werth it. It has green lasers!!!
bonnaroo is just diff every year.who in the hell wants to see the same people over and over again.i went the first year and taped alot of good stuff and had a blast, but i wouldnt want to see the same shit all over again.
Bonaroo hasn't been getting more "mainstream", it's just become less of a hippie monopoly, and that's a good thing. I mean, look at recent performers...it's not like Flaming Lips, Radiohead, Cat Power, and Sonic Youth are the same as Brittany Spears, Hannah Montana and Celine Dion. It's not getting "mainstream", it's just getting DIVERSE, with the best examples of LOTS of genres. Unless you're hippie-nazi, that's a beautiful thing.
It was amazing how much effort The Flaming Lips and their crew put into this show. Wayne Coyne strived for us to have a great time. That's what it's all about. What a beautiful show.
I actually think it was the worst, though I didn't stay long. I'd been tripping for days at that point and was past 10 hits, and started freaking out really bad during the first song, remember thinking "This is the gayest thing I've ever seen". so I walked out after that first one, and I heard his saying something while I was walking away like "Or you guys can stay, you can stay and watch the show"
Hah, well... there you go.. you'd have had to be on 10+ hits of acid for a few days in a row to think that it sucked. Honestly, could you really enjoy any concert at that point?
I dunno, I was just at The Police before that and I didn't mind it. It was half the crowd that was creeping me out, and the show seemed a little overdone.
Overdone?!? Maybe you should lay off the acid and you might enjoy a good show when you're at it rather than freaking out about the people around you. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy tripping but the day it interferes with my perception of an awesome show like that is when I quit. That was the best and most original performance at Bonnaroo this year!
I disagree. Tool blew them away. Don't get me wrong, I like The Flaming Lips. But frankly, in my opinion, a band should be able to put on a good show without walking on the crowd in a bubble or bassing laser pointers out. It was all a production, which some people like, but I dont.
Hmmm, I don't remember saying I wasn't but are shrooms good enough for you? Can I be proud now? Anyway,we'll leave it as me and MeasXI agree to disagree. Great show!!!! Can't wait for next year!!!
I'm not sure if I'm gonna go next year. It's been getting more and more mainstream each year, and not a lot of the big headlining bands are leaving, String Cheese is breaking up, lets just say it would take a miracle to get me back in that heat
i was on shroomies and although it wasn't as strong as an acid trip... it was.... wonderful! I liked his message to all us angst ridden war-hating hippies.. it really calmed us down wouldn't you say?
Kudos for the Lips or whomever who passed out all those red pinlasers. The show was awesome and some of us had a lot of fun with them for rest of the festival.
Since I wasn't very familiar with the Lips at Bonnaroo I got freaked out during Yoshimi pt. 2. The lights and the....overwhelmed me.......wish I could try it again though.
i was there at bonnaroo this year and that was one of the most amazing things i have ever seen. that plus the ufo made it the best flaming lips show ever.

Think about how much sweat and other things that are being emitted by the people standing. A simple mist will give light refraction.
