yes there will be a profit, eventually, assuming they get their act together, but it means, increasing the deficit, and the debt on the country in the short term. A lot of the so called "conservative" republicans have problems with social programs and using tax payers money, but using public money to bail out a company that made large financial mistakes is somehow a better use of money? You would have to admit, that a lot of people would balk at this.

I understand that move is necessary, because the repercussions of the fall out, would be significantly larger than a bail out. However, what kind of message does this send to folks on wall street? Don't worry keep paying large sums of money to execs and huge bonuses, and any expensive mistakes you make, will be covered by Uncle Sam.

While the bail out is necessary, there needs to be oversight and change in culture on wall street. Apparently unfettered greed has nationwide consequences.
