  • Thank you!

  • :) kinda like the little rhyme, "sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite".

  • Here in Texas my kids got body lice from the school or day care. Then there was also a notice was sent out on the typhus a couple months later. Being so close to the border I guess its expected.

  • Nice Videos: Borax kills bugs : ) Borax + Bugs=Dead Bugs Hopes this helps...People don't use sun screen the current sun screens block out to much sun

  • for survival i have been mostly thinking of food, shelter, etc. the basics. forgot about this.

  • you can put plastic bed protectors on your beds.

  • DE, (diao earth) will also kill fleas and ants topically. It is commonly found in swimming pool stores in a Lesser grade than you recommend. Thanks for posting.

  • I worked as Desk & Door staff in a condo building in Chicago were they had a super horrible bed bug problem witch took almost a year to stop and I was so afraid that I was going to bring one of those little buggers home I had nightmares every night were I would wake up ready to rip my own skin off , sweating and shaking to the point my wife put me on the couch in exile !!! So I know were your coming from , it was like that kid in " A Nightmare on Elm Street 2 " I woke up screaming .

  • hello, good job with the videos, 1 quick question, where can 1 get the (diatamous)?

  • Tea tree oil is also helpful against lice used like neem. Tea tree is also good for healing skin cuts, burns, and infections. It is also anti fungal. A very good essential oil to have in your medical stocks.

  • great vid-you are alot prettier without your sunglasses

  • I always LOVE your videos! Working togeather many of us will survive and be able to help many more good, but unknowledgeable, people survive also. Thank you soooo much for your time and helping US!!!!

  • Listerene or it's generic eqivalent will kill Lice and the eggs in hair. I was told this years ago by a lady when reading the precautions on lice killer for an outbreak in my childs school. I used it because it seemed much safer and it definitly did work several times when my kids brought them home! Just be careful of not getting in thier eyes of course!! Its also good for fungus like athletes foot ,but takes a while to kill that!

  • again another great vid unlike other people who post vids you stay on target and put out the vids that acturally have great need and does help people better than some people posting pets than info vids and did you try letting infected items out in the sunlight that sometimes works

  • Would Borax be good for bed bugs? I have used them for fleas in another house I live in, where there were cats living around me.

  • I've heard that oils also suffocate lice.

  • Thanks so much for all your information! I believe it will make things much easier if folks will think then plan...

  • I started itching just watching this. Good info. I know there are some vaccines that are classified as optional for us here is the US. However they recommend them for folks visiting overseas. What are your thoughts on getting these “optional “vaccines for a SHTF situation?

  • Great vid, give you a lot to think about.

  • Lavender is a great calming oil as well, which may be useful the shtf scenario since most people will be stressed out like they have never been before! I use lavender oil to relax after a bad day at the range shooting substandard groups! - LOL

  • Very helpful video, and definitely something that isn't addressed often. I absolutely hate crawly critters, and am going to look up diatomaceous earth right now. I'm having a problem with your site though... the links in the stash don't seem to be working?

  • Vermox (Mebendazole) is supposed to be fantastic for parasites but I don't think it is OTC. Anyone found a way to treat their fish with Vermox?

  • Sure hope your gonna vote this election , Mr obama wants to make what your doing illegal .

  • comb your hair with mayonase kills lice

  • Thanks for sharing. Great info.!!!!

  • De-Buggin' your Bug-Out -- Great topic!

  • Thank you. Great subject matter, and equally great presentation.

  • Good info! Thanks. Had to deal with sand fleas in Texas, not fun. What do you know about fungus treatment or prevention? I've heard random reports of dangerous and pernicious fungus like after the Joplin tornadoes.

  • Once again, you have some of the best information on Youtube. Thank you, Patriot Nurse. Love your channel.

  • Excellent video. As an R.N. myself I have been waiting for someone in the preparedness community to do a video on this subject. There are videos on YouTube on this topic but they are done by non-preppers. you did an excellent job in the small amount of time given to this topic. I didn't know that pumpkin seeds are good for internal parasites. Thanks for that tip. Yeah, I have a 50 pound bag of food grade diatamaceious earth in my garage.

  • it also works for worms that is what we worm our pups and horses with

  • Great vid. Let's not forget the plague of roaches and rats that will come during a long term shtf situation. Bedbugs are already a major problem in lots of upstate ny, the refuge population brought them back like 5 years ago.

  • @aranelinya We use Clarkia. If you decided to buy some shop around. The price can vary.

  • Tea Tree Oil with Neem Oil is a powerful combination and addition to your first aid kit as well as your parasite kit. They work great by themselves, however, they are a synergistic combination and work very well in helping our friends such as fleas, tics and lice get lazy, not want to mate and thus die off leaving you, your children and pets unwelcoming hosts. Make sure that you check this or any information out before you actually use it on yourself.

  • Finally up,you were in my dreams.

  • You give new meaning to the term "Bugout"! Next time I see someone with an itch, I will Bugout! I believe that you are also correct that this one of the greatly underestimated and under discussed topics in the Prepper world. And thanks for the confirmation that food grade DE is great stuff for general purpose bugging out. Even works good as a polish and substitute for powdered cleanser. It also imparts a creamer texture to bannana-strawberry shakes. I got 5 pounds. What do you advise?

  • I love your videos! I am a Nursing student about to start obgyn/Pedi in the Spring!! Praying I actually get to finish and get my feet wet before SHTF!

  • @Msakaalbany Your local flower shop should carry it, it is a favorite of gardners (( like myself)) as a natural pesticide without all the toxic goop they sell in stores. I have had to use it for an infestation we had and I SWEAR buy it now!

  • 90% and up Alcohol is good for killing bed bugs also, spray it on everything... It does not affect your cloths or bed linens either...

  • Minneapolis Public Housing is notoriously bad with pest control. As a PCA I've helped rid bedbugs and cockroaches from 3 apartments with a mixture of diatomacious earth and boric acid, and having treated my book bag with it, I've never brought any (live ones) home. The danger with diatomatious earth, as I understand it, is in the lungs it may cause Silicosis, so don't inhale it. It's in foods we eat every day, and is perfectly safe on our skin and in our food.

  • diatomaceous

  • you can get food grade diatomaceous earth from amazondotcom. I have seen it for sale there.

  • @willkaren4ver Just go to your local flower shop, they sell it there in bulk and its very cheap for a 5 pound bag... it can also be sprayed on to plants and trees as natural a insecticide!!!

  • I have heard that acetone AKA finger nail polish remover will kill bed bugs. I don't know first hand but if there's anyone out there that has a bed bug problem give it a try and see if it works.

  • tea tree oil has been my best solution for head lice

  • cedar oil for externals

  • yea...sorry, but nothing is going to help with bedbugs. It was modern hydrocarbons that allowed the one & only time in human history that we eliminated most infestations, since they were banned in the 1990's the numbers have continued to increase.

You may be able to limit infestations but 100% control is a virtual impossibility.

    Thanks for the video!

  • @PestControl02 Negative!!!!!! DE is REALLY that effective for personal home elimination... UNLIKE DDT however it does not solve your problem over-night and a diligent homeowner must consitently clean and then reapply DE. "REAL" clinical trials have proven it kills ALL bed bugs after a period of 15 days.. The problem is Americans have no damned patience and want the fastest fix to their problem.

  • @MrDysfunctional I respect your comment, but history has proven you wrong.

DE has been used since ancient times...and bedbugs were VERY common until the 1940's.

If DE was as effective as your claim, we wouldn't have/need a 10 billion per year pest control industry

DE is better than nothing, combined with sanitation & diligence limited control is possible.

Thanks for commenting, I may do my own video on this subject.

  • you can't shoot them or eat them so no one thinks about this for SHTF

  • always good vids thanx, cept WTSHTF no one is coming in my house.

    love your smile.

  • Why do i keep replaying 5:20?

  • many say that food grade diatomaceous earth can be taken internally to fight parasites..

  • I've used a light dusting of Boric Acid Powder effectively for cockroaches, spiders, etc. I figured out a way to use a cardboard core from paper towels, as an applicator placing a teaspoon of BAP in the tube and blowing into it to disperse the powder over horizontal surfaces.

  • once again thats something i would have never thought about! love your videos thanks for sharing ur knowledge

  • Can bug bombs be used for lice and bed bugs?

  • @MrB0TT Re: Bed bugs

Plenty of recent tv specials have indicated that insect bombs are not effective. I believe that the specialists have indicated that the whole house, covered gas fumigation works as well as heating the house with special blower/heaters. From what I have learned it is an absolutely frightening experience that if not handled properly will bankrupt those trying to deal with them.

  • Great information! Please keep em comin!

  • What about fleas? I would think people would get fleas rather quickly if they aren't bathing regularly. Thanks for the info, sounds like the Diatomaceous earth is the way to go.

  • should you cook the P seeds or eat them raw??

  • I think WWIII will be against scabies.

  • nooo dont ever burn plastic bags. the wind will get the toxic crap in the smoke everywhere grass, soil, water. it will get in the food chains and bio accumulade in people.

  • @toomanyfires don't be silly, be realistic, incineration will be vital to prevent disease and garbage disposal.

  • Bedbugs are noctunal. They are just like roaches and like electrical outlets and also hiding behind picture frames

DO NOT BUY ANYTHING made of cloth used or from a thrift store. If you have someone stay with you in a shtf make sure they and their belonging are checked for bugs before they enter your home or bugout

  • Thanks for posting! Peace! .V,,

  • Will that help with my parasite inlaws that are coming to stay for the holidays?

  • @MrB0TT

No, but you may wish to leave some around in the kitchen and tell them you cook with it (food grade), meaning they eat it every time they eat at your table. You can cook with it, as a matter of fact it is in certain things we consume anyway, so you won't be fibin', just stretching a bit is all. That may help them to leave early and think about frequent returns.

  • @MrB0TT....love!!!!!!!

  • great video!

  • Thank you very much , we had a friend call about this last week ....

  • Wow, great tips, thanks.

  • Ditomaceous earth is the stuff to combat bedbugs! I ordered 10 pounds and after all the treatment was done, I think I have a good 8 lbs left. You can use it as flea powder on your pets, too, and as pest control out in the garden. It must be stressed that the DE has to be food grade... NOT the pool stuff!!!

  • Just finished dealing with head lice at my house. I have 4 kids so it was a big mess and I got them too. I think we are officially rid of them now.

  • Thanks for the tips. Great things to think about. Also for internal worms, Ocotea oil is very good. I like the Young Living brand.

  • thanks

  • 3$/12oz DOG SHAMPOO has the same active ingredient of

permethrin as does the rid or the nix shampoo of 12$/1oz and yes it DOES work we have tried it will kill head lice and body lice...i can find no expiration date and it is made in the usa...spread the word....we are storing lots and lots

  • I love you Patriot Nurse you come up with stuff I would of never thought of when the SHTF. Everyone(me included) talks about guns and food, but not about this stuff. Thank You.

  • Thank you and many BlesSings.

  • Parasites are cool........ not really. They're interesting though. I watch Monsters Inside on Animal Planet sometimes. Makes me afraid to eat stuff sometimes lol. The worse one I saw was a bot fly. HOT DAMN. Those suckers are huge.(thank God we don't live in S. America) Thanks for the video.

  • pretty cool!

  • Food grade DE helped me address a Squash Vine Borer larvae problem.

This stuff is a heavy hitter in the multi-tasking category.

    Thanks for posting that.

  • handy tips and info....thanks so much for the incites

  • For lice consider an old-fashioned straight razor, do you really need hair in an apocalypse? ;-)

Chilies and strong hot sauce is supposed to be good for preventing GI parasites.

  • Great subject matter; we also use steam on and around the bed.

  • Neem oil.

Sweet! I've got several Neem trees on my property.

    They grow like weeds.

  • Is that stuff for bedbugs harmful to pets

  • @bossman12334 DE is not harmful to mammals

  • @bossman12334 Diatomaceous earth is safe for pets! That's one of the great things about it!

  • @ThePatriotNurse could i get it at like wal mart?

  • Thanx!!!!

  • Thanks for sharing your insights and experience on this important topic! Best wishes -

  • un related question, why are fish/bird meds prefered over other animals?

  • Thanks for the vid, but I'm an ichy mess now...Thanks for that too : )

  • Much needed video. I addressed lice in my "Medical Supplies" video. Critters will be a huge problem in a grid-down scenario. I have all the items you suggested except the Neem oil...which I will get ASAP. Thanks as always.

  • you rock patnurse

  • As always, very professionally done and informative. My family and I are so grateful for your service to the community. Thank you very much.

  • I hadn't even considered this, other than in a general sanitation sense. Thanks for putting a spotlight on it.

  • Hey PatriotNurse, great videos, You can also use Diatomaceous Earth in your garden to kill unwanted bugs, and also you can eat the food grade stuff to kill parasites in your intestines...goodstuff. Good job on your channel-oh and your a hottie

  • when you said lice, i started scratching my head.

  • Love your videos, good job! I have read that the diatomaceous earth is very dangerous to breath. Also, the pumpkin seeds must be raw to work with parasites. There is a tincture made of wormwood, cloves & black walnut that rids human & pets of internal parasites. I have not had such good luck w/Neem oil.

  • @artnuwa11 It's silica powder. So wearing a mask when dusting with it is preferable. I wouldn't call it "very dangerous" just wear a mask and ventilate.

  • Comment removed

  • @jacmunbong Wrong, DE is SILICA, just a very fine version of it. Not only does it cause dusty lung if you inhale to much but copious amounts can impair the mucousal lining of your bronchi. Just wear a dust-mask, otherwise its completely safe!!!!!

  • @MrDysfunctional ok.i will remove my comment if it will allow me too

  • @jacmunbong NOT if you have respiratory problems!

  • @artnuwa11 thats what i was told by the people who sold it too me.i will remove my comment if thats the case.thank u

  • @jacmunbong I only know this because my cousin had problems using it.

  • @artnuwa11 breathing in "FILTER GRADE" DE is dangerous, "food Grade" will just irritate your lungs slightly... a mask is preferred but not necessary if you simply don't go slinging it all over your house in a giant dust cloud

  • @MrDysfunctional Even w/ food grade , if a person has respiratory problems it will be troublesome.

  • I found a thin film of petroleum jelly works well for lice,if that is you do not have the most modern oils

  • Bed bugs are just the nastiest stuff ever. We rented a place in Keystone Colorado for a few months, right after a group of East Europeans were in there. I ended up sending my wife and kids out of town while I dealt with them. This was 2007, and the bug men didnt even know how to get rid of them. They hide inside your stuff rather than just dark areas, and their eggs can be dormant for months and months. The last night I was there I had many thousands of bites on me....I hate even thinking back.

  • thanks havent prepped for these types of bugs (focused more on roaches ants and flies and rodents. i heard that wintergreen alcohol prevents bedbugs s this true?

  • @cheska576 alchohol needs to be sprayed directly on them. It works by drying them out. It is very effective but you've got to spray it directly on them. It's good for an initial sweep. I believe the alchohol kills the eggs too.. problem is they hide so well.

  • what is that stuff in the bag could not see it where do i get it

  • Good video. Anther avenue to fighting bedbugs etc. is to go "National Alllergy" website (natlallergy, com) which sells bed and mattress covers to protect one against bugs and allergens; a dozen of these items goes a long way. Can you make a video about homeopathy? I think a video from you on this subject will indirectly motivate viewers to research natural remedies more than coventional medicines which will save them money and from reactions of stronger medicines.

  • Excellent topic and delivery! One to favorite for sure.

  • Gross, but take it from a guy who has to travel a lot, bed bugs are a problem.

  • Brilliant good thinking yet again.

  • I love to see PN keeping it real!!!

    Right On!

    Thanks for the video!

  • Ive read that after the age of oil that disease and pests will come back to plague mankind with a vengeance. Your doing great stuff really enjoy it Thank you

  • @PatriotNurse. What do you think about collidal silver? I did not see you add that to your medical supply list.

  • Great video!
