There's the LAME excuse always "oh they are evolving". Some bands DO evolve, but OLP just went STRAIGHT DOWN POPPY COMERCIAL STREET. The FACT is, when the old guitarrist left and they made that audition for a new guitarrist their sound went to shit.
imagine .... jeremy taggart the drummer wasgraduating highschool when he was recording with them .. just imagine braging about that around your highschool!!
there music videos always had him have this insane at least some part in the video... now its just him standing in the woods with the band behind him singing normally... (All You Did Was Save My Life)
This is the SHIT!!! Love OLP, but they went downhill after Mike Turner left. Spiritual Machines was the last great hoorah for a fantastic band. IMO they started trying to sound too much like the modern "Bullshit" bands like Nickelback, and so on. Too bad, they were such fantastic musicians.
ok yeah i also agree they are evolving but their evolving soung is really good comparitively but their old sound was just really raw and inspirational but i cant say they ever stopped making bad music or ever will cuz my fav song by them is from gravity
They definitely have a more er...mainstream friendly sound now, compared to before...in some ways its a good thing but there are always cons, One big con is the music doesn't sound raw...I like Old OLP better but as I grow older I can see why they have sorta slowed down. Matured even.
Wow, thanks a bunch for putting this up, really. I haven't seen it since it came out. I've been looking for it for a long, long time. Of course it was only on Much Music when I did see it originally. MTV never played Our Lady Peace in general until . . . they became more "pop"ularly acceptable.
I always found MuchMusic better than MTV for that reason. They'll play more than just generic crap. RIght now, that's pretty much what mainstream music IS but still.
Raine looks... normal in this video. I couldn't help but burst into giggles after seeing a few seconds of him in The Birdman.
yea same here i love there harder stuff aswell its a shame really since 2000 it seems like everythin has gone soft from music to films but im looking forward to the new OLP album cause raine has said that the new album will be like naveed so im soo looking forward to it :)
yeah Naveed was really heavy rock, after that they were still hardcore, but not as much, during that time, I think they made their best music on Clumsy, Happiness...is not a fish you cant catch, and Spiritual Machines. I still love many songs on Gravity and on Healthy in Paranoid Times, but they did soften up on those two albums. It probably has to do with Maida's slight voice change. For example, he cant sing songs like Life and In Repair in their original tones anymore
i remember the first time i heard this it was on some stupid compilation cd i got from a magazine or something, absolutely loved them with this one... tho i already loved starseed back in those days.. love em!!
Pretty trippy, and so 90's! The song is much better than the video. After getting all their records, I'm only now looking up the videos of their's I haven't seen, ha...
I agree...their new stuff is softer. I grew up with this band, & I prefer their hardcore music on the Naveed album more than the songs on Heathy in Paranoid Times
the mike's rock guitar(not shitty pop riffs from gravity), the raine'scratching voice and the jeremy's powerful drums, hard and mystical sounds were the power of this album.
still gives me a chill

This song is the epitome of what 90s rock was and what real rock should be today.

Hate to break it to you, but Raine's said that about just about every album SINCE Naveed, lol.
I've heard a few songs from the new album, they're pretty good, but definitely not reminiscent of Naveed in much a way.
