What Donald is doing here is very 'true for the time' parenting.

I think the logic was that if you didn't want your kids to smoke, then make em' smoke til' they choke. Very crude, but like everything in our world, parenting has changed with time.

Who knows, in 50 years our ways of treating children might be considered universally wrong.
