You may want to look into the values of the conservatives .... they aim for smaller government (lower taxes - allowing people to keep more of what they earn!) and fiscal responsibility.
Are we talking about real conservatives, or hypothetical ones? Real conservatives of the past eight years at least have been fiscally irresponsible, spending down the surplus Clinton left behind, putting us in debt to China, and growing government to astronomical levels.
Historically, it's actually Vice President Al Gore's REGO--reinventing government--initiative that led to efficiencies and smaller government.
