if you upload a video wich actually is hd (really high quality), it will appear as an HD video.

i don't know if its the acoustics in the room that you are doing the review in but the sound quality is distorted a tad my dad just got a flip ultra and i stole it for a while and thought it was really good, sound quality was much better on the ultra in my opinion i cant comment on the picture quality because i cant watch this video in HD so kind of defeats the object, i also prefer that the ultra takes double A batteries instead of the mino which you have to charge, i never trust a rechargeable

YT's original quality sucks. One has to render their vids or cross their fingers for decent quality. I bet if you were to upload this to Vimeo it would be a beauty.

Why is your Mino HD video bad but other peoples test looks HD and have an option to watch in HD or High Quality. I dont get it. How did they shoot 8 hours? FLips only shoot 1 hour a piece.

There is an embedded microphone, it picks up sound well and it also has speakers. You can playback the video and hear it after you recorded it right on the screen on the cam.

Hey Todd, we're not able to watch this video in the HQ setting because you used the FlipShare easy uploader that came with the camera. You have to bypass that and send the native 1280 x 720 p file to your editor, then upload directly to YouTube.

The way you're doing it now, it's over compressing the video and the sound.

Hm... I've looked at many comparisons and the non-HD flip mino actually looks better for uploading purposes on youtube. But for on a HD TV the flip mino HD looks good. So for youtube Flip Mino non-HD. That's What I want.

I've looked at a lot of comparisons too, but you might be making the same mistake I was...I believe you have to add &fmt=22 to make to watch the hd quality version of the minohd. Minohd looks a lot better with youtubehd, I'm still not sure I want to pay the extra $50 for hd though.

Sorry, "&fmt=22" is what you add to the end of the youtube address to see it in hd. Go to the related video by camcorderinfo that is 25 seconds. Look through the comments on how to see youtube hd videos so you can see what the minohd looks like.

Hey geeknews, I am an audio engineer and I noticed the audio quality seems pretty poor. Is that because of the instant youtube conversion or is that the actual audio from the flip?

The Audio was great on the original .avi even my internal conversion was good for the video I pushed to Blip. But the conversion the flipshare program did and what was encoded on YouTube was in my opinion pretty bad.

I converted it locally with Xilisoft video converter from 400meg .avi to a 34 meg .mp4 and the audio and video was fine.

I've got a quick question. I see that the new format for the mino HD is MP4, but does that make any major difference for a PC user, not mac? I've never had any flip camcorder, but I assume you plug it in, then drag and drop to the desktop or wherever, having it automatically be windows movie maker ready? Somebody please help me out with an answer.

Would I need some special HD attachment or format or something to work with this, or is it as simple as it seems?

a question.... how does it handle exposure changes??? I.E. the difference between the sky and you subject....

i want to use the new HD flip for airiel photography/video, and this is the # problem, the difference in white balance between the ground and the sky.......

It handles exposure changes about the same as any other camera of this type and if you have played with one before I could not see the difference. I have not held it against the sky

I used the program that came with the application flipshare to push straight to YouTube. The video i sent to Blip which is available to be seen on my website was converted from a 400 meg file to a 32 meg file i encoded from .avi to .mp4 and pushed to blip who then encoded in flash the video was much better. The flipshare program is crap
