  • 14 people have no soul

  • It's amazing how many ways McCartney has played those chords (you know G, F,A, C etc.), so simple and yet all these melodies just keep coming. You'd think he'd run out of the melodies but so far not so!

  • This guy is just flat out awesome. Saw him twice and both times 3 hours of hits.

  • Paul was , and is a ,genius!!!!!

  • When it comes to songwriters Paul McCartney is definitely one who separates the men from the boys.

  • @MacAggy ♥

  • @MacAggy you're thinking of michael jackson

  • @whrmwass Jackson only had a hand in the songwriting credits of not even half his songs and of those he only wrote about 20 by himself. He's not up there with the 'big boys' when it comes to songwriting. Though, as far as performing is concerned, he's one of the 'biggest boys' of all time.

  • @MacAggy haha no i feel you, it was a joke! :) maybe my timing is off? ;)

  • @whrmwass Ha ha, :) I should have got the joke...I mean what are the chances of a big Michael Jackson fan checking out an obscure Paul McCartney song like 'Every Night'? :)

  • @MacAggy

Every Night isn't that obscure. Sure, it isn't as well known as, say, 'Maybe I'm Amazed', 'Live and Let Die' , 'Band On The Run' or 'Silly Love Songs', but it is sort off well known. I mean, he performs it on tour occasionally and has several covers. It's not as obscure as 'Man We Was Lonely' or 'Kreen-Akrore'

  • @ForeverTreesGreen You're right. I was just trying to say if there are any Michael Jackson fans looking up any Paul McCartney songs 99% of them probably wouldn't be looking up 'Every Night'. Peace

  • "Every Night" is a song written by Paul McCartney while he was on holiday in Greece, and first released on his McCartney album on April 17, 1970.

  • @LaytonMario3 He did? Oh, I thought this was a cover version.

  • i love how Paul looks during 1970, that extra weight and beard made him look the best he ever had

  • It's a sad thing he didn't write this.

  • @Pianoasis Ok, he wrote this, but I heard someone say this is a cover for the Drifters.

  • @ChocolateHoneycomb the drifters...? as in motown from the early 60's...uhmm well I grew up with all of them, this was new with Pauls album...you gotta be kidding about the Drifters...lol , nice joke arse hole

  • Paul channeling a bit of Elvis here. It shows up from time to time.. like on Smile Away

  • paul and john going seperate ways really cost the world a ton of music, there is no question of "whether they would have continued to make great tunes" i can say for a fact that we missed out on at least 20 more timeless hits!. minimum

  • @aknowneemus. You have a point but I reckon they collectively had another 2 years worth of top notch material, diamonds like this, May Be I'm Amazed, much of RAM, Lennon's Love, Look at Me, Oh My Love, Imagine etc. These mythical albums would have been a step on from the WHite Album and exploring their weird childhood mystical side (a la Cry Baby Cry and the bit that connects to Revoulation 9 [can you take me back?]. The 4 togther, esp Len/Mac, would have been better than 4 solos.

  • @aknowneemus Well said !

  • This is my favorite song of all of Paul's solo stuff :)

  • Stevie Riks does a great job on this song also. He looks, sings and acts so much like Paul, that it uncanny !

  • Comment removed

  • Definitely the beatles have been the most positive impact on my life.

  • 1/2 of the greatest songwriting team of the 20th century.....

  • Paul´s music is timeless

  • This song, this album . . . . no words.

  • gatopfuelsaver

  • when does the new "mccartney" remaster comes out?

  • @sharpieebitch uhmmmm wtf?

  • @sharpieebitch hot.

  • ひとりで創った"Macartney"~秀曲の山~ポール!特に”EveryNight”はいつも歌ってましたヨ。

  • beautiful song, so much heart-thanks for sharing

  • Phoebe Snow did it better, I'm sure Paul would agree,....but Paul is a great songwriter....I'm certain Phoebe would've agreed. May she rest in peace.

  • love it - beatles forever

  • Comment removed

  • i love this song :) the unplugged version is so much better though, i love paul mccartney.

  • An amazing song...Phoebe Snow did a great cover of this as well....

  • nice, paul looked really nice when he was with the wings

  • Wonderful! I love how this song makes me feel! Believe me Mama! lol

  • Wonderful! I love how this song makes me feel!

  • great tune

  • Scarto dell'agonia Beatles, Paul finalmente si libra in aria da buon Gemelli senza gli impedimenti lennoniani a base di crudo rock and roll o la "pretesa" filosofica di indianizzare anche l'aria da parte di George.

  • Written when still with the Beat Bros, fabulous McCartney

  • One of the many things I admire about Paul, is that he is so talented, yet he is so humble and down to earth. Love him !

  • ♥♥♥♥♥ I love grits in my beautiful. Lovely just...sigh.

  • my favorite song at work: starbucks !! <3

  • @sweetheartmeli In the middle of making a a bunch of drinks for this dude and this came on soI ran in the back to catch the name of the song before it ended. The customer was pissed off, but I don't regret it ^^.

  • When thinking of the Beatles, you must look at 4 facets. All of which were a gift to the world. Now, many decades after their breakup, and deaths, the true worth wll be examined. This song, as many more, will finally be heard and loved. Sure, it was a solo song by Paul, but he was one of those facets. The same will happen with John's and Georges, obscure album tracks that I have loved all my life. Ringo seems to be the timekeeper, as the clock ticks for us all. Enjoy the ride....

  • I love this one.

  • Classic !

  • The Beatles were and are a gift to anyone who cares to listen. Alone and together they give love, hope, peace and happiness an opening to shine through to everyone.

They love the world and mankind. It's very simple really. Peace and love everyone.

  • @LvnAction

I can agree with you to some extent, the Beatles were revolutionary and were very talented. In fact, i the two most recognized are Lennon and Cartney but I very much doubt they loved the whole world, their songs can be a message as you said for hope or ideas. They inspired many artist in the long run, which in turn have inspired others. Time can chamge a person and altohugh deep inside they truly mean to care for everyone it's just not possible, life's problems can drag you down.

  • @Willshires What you wrote is true. By the time of his death, John's political views had radically changed.

  • @LvnAction

    The Beatles as prophets. Imagine.

  • @LvnAction yeaah, but this isn't beatles--- this is Paul McCartney.

  • @LvnAction - yes !

  • @LvnAction

    great post TY

  • Paul may not be with us much longer. His true worth as a musical force will be understood by the world when he passes on.

  • I'm a John fan all the way, but Paul definitely has his moments and this is one of them. Cool song.

  • @citybeat60 I love John also... however, Paul had more than his " moments " ! " Band On The Run ", ( the whole album ), is a great example of that !! PEACE.....

  • @mrstevehartman

Agreed. That is a great album. :)

  • @citybeat60 Yes sir !

  • love it..

  • Check out (Live in Glasgow '79) Live with Wings.

  • Had not listened to this in many years. Good Lord I forgot how good it is.

  • Absolutely beautiful song.

  • LOVE IT ! Typical Macca style... whimsical !!

  • A simple love song that rocks in its simplicity!

  • "yesterday" was solo by paul w/ the beatles. Yet Comparison isn't an issue. No one wanted them to split up, that's the thing!

  • sweet...anyone who writes a tune that good...can't be all bad

  • I am first a bigger fan of Johns but as John wrote in the top margin of his transcriptions for “Grow Old Along With Me” -"for Paul” and John gives credit for what was mostly his or Paul's and how Paul added this or that to finish off so many of Johns tunes, if Paul was at last admired by John then that is good enough for me and BTW so is this great song of Paul’s – two giants of popular music

  • This is how to made a song with Puure love <3

  • Lovely natural voice and a nice little guitar-strummy love song from a happy guy.

  • what a great back and forth song if you get my meaning

  • :) my tip to music lovers - dont listen to as much new music - stick to the older music like this .... it's the BEST, and its the source to all good music :D but everyone has their own opinions :]

  • :) my tip to music lovers - dont listen to as much new music - stick to the older music like this .... it's the BEST, and its the source to all good music :D but everyone has their own opinions :]

  • nine people are tone retarted !!!!!

  • @phillyguy672 that s nothing compare with the rest

  • I saw Paul performing this song live at the soundcheck for his concert in Dublin this year...it was just amazing!!!

  • @Menalinda88 unbelievable

  • They were all Love songs to his beloved Linda.

  • Paul is the best. Believe me Mamma!

  • This song brings tears to my eyes every time I listen to it. So beautiful.

  • yeahhh! nice song!! see you in november, Paul ! :D

  • Why isn't this song better known? It's absolutely beautiful.

  • @TheMrosin The best song on this album, unequivocally ; Maybe i'm amazed has no variety of melody and so is far too long

  • @TheMrosin It's a blessing really because they didn't over play it and it remains a special hidden precious gem.

  • I DO AGREE EVERY NIGHT AND MAYBE AM AMAZED IS STILL AS FRESH TODAY WHEN THE ALBUM WAST RELEASED IN 1970 PURE GENIUS.

  • Looking through some cassettes at a thrift store in the late 90's, my son says,:Here's M.C. Cartney." I knew it was this album and I was like WHOA! Let me have that! Love these songs!

  • I love youtube. I've been looking for this song for years.

  • i actually like the unplugged version more because its a little mor slower

  • the people 7 that gave this thumbs down have no taste in music! i've been listening to this since i was 3, on my uncle's 8 track-i still love it!!

  • Venus and Mars are allright tonight-still and always will be together. Band on the Run--when the band got to Africa and saw the condtions they had to work within, they all split and Paul was left all alone there with his wife. So he composed the tune Band on the Run and played all the instruments himself. Ergo, another great record!

  • @TheElissaS

That's not quite right. Two guys quit right before the band was to leave for Lagos.

That left Paul, Denny Laine, and Linda. So really, Paul and Denny Laine with a little help from Linda made Band on the Run.

  • @paranormal33 RIGHT YOU ARE! I truly forgot Lane hung in there! Thank u for setting my memory straight!

  • In '70 I was graduated from 8th grade(as 99% of the kids on my block were) and the boy across the street gave me this album as a gift. It was SO great then and never lost its' touch. You can feel the vibes of his happiness of being in love with Linda Eastman throughout this album and Ram--even with Wings. That's What Love Will Make You Do, that's what love will make you do.......

  • Another little gem from Paul. He had so much talent, he could knock out a few pretty little numbers like this one before breakfast. So much talent. And Paul played every instrument on this album, which, as I recall, her recorded in his house in Scotland.

  • Great but what happened to the middle eight......

  • paul's playing everthing on this album..

  • i wish the song was longer

  • great song - so talented

  • Sooooo lovely ! Have not heard this song since I was a kid !!

  • Almost forgot about this one... GREAT !!!! PEACE...

  • He is THE greatest Musical talent.

  • Not bad for a 40 year old record. Not bad at all.

  • my uncles had this 8 track when i was little( i was born in 1967) still one of my favorites, been listening to it for 40 years now-how come i've never got tired of it yet? because it's real music, not this corporate crap shoved down our throats nowadays!!

  • great song, but the playing is a bit stiff, as the whole album. inevitable when one plays all the instruments. i just like to imagine these songs played by all four beatles. that would've been great indeed.

  • @paolomanueldec I have always liked the simplicity of the first solo album.

A bit like the roughness of the Plastic Ono Band album, not so many overdubs. Maybe I am the only one...?

  • @lapislazuli7 of course it's great, it's still mccartney, he could play polkas with an ocarina and still sound good. Yet compare this to 'plastic ono band' itself, you can feel ringo and klaus are complementing the songs, giving and input no one else could give. Here mccartney cannot free himself, he has to follow his own overdubbings.

  • @lapislazuli7 Agreed. Lennon and McCartney overproduced their stuff through the 1970s when most equated better with more production

  • I don't think if you like pm or the beatles or john or george or ringo, you can pick a list.

  • 1. "The Lovely Linda" (excepting the weird end). 2. "Every Night" 3. "Junk" (I wish he would play it live often). 4. "Maybe I'm Amazed" 5. "Heart of the Country" 6. "Pipes of Peace" 7. "Say Say Say" 8. "So Bad" 9. "Mull of Kintyre" 10. "Press" 11. "Lonely Road" 12. "Driving Rain" "Chaos and Creation in the Backyard" and "Memory Almost Full" as a whole (not to mention "Ecce Cor Meum"). And there are still a lot more!
  • 1. Backseat of my car

    2. Junk

    3. Heart of the country

    4. Uncle Albert

    5. Band on the run

  • Well, since we are all sharing our list of favorite McCartney songs: 1) Take it away 2) That would be something 3) Oo You 4) let 'em in 5) Jet 6) Maybe I'm amazed 7) Every night 8) My Love 9) Put it there 10) Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey Thank you all for your time!
  • actually john stopped Paul from taking out a good lyric from hey jude.

  • I'm amazed at the great acoustic output by McCartney (Lennon and Harrison too for that matter) before Unplugged was even popular.

  • All of the Beatles were fantastic musicians in their own right, which is why it's a miracle they actually stayed together as long as they did. Now in terms of the John/Paul song-writing machine, it was very much a team effort. It doesn't take much to realize Paul's strength was musical (chords, melody, the "catch") and John's was lyrical. *(In fact John stopped Paul from making some bad lyrical changes in the song "Hey Jude", or "Hey Jules", for Julian after the divorce.) That is all.

  • @epitux The only change wasn't really much of a change. Paul had written The Movement You Need Is On Your Shoulder. He wanted to take that out but John thought it was brilliant and convinced him to leave it in. That was it.

  • why argue over who was better ,, they both were awesome along with George and ringo

  • Comment removed

  • if you check the beatles best songs were written by paul soley, and the songs paul wrote soley were more succesful like hey jude, let it be, yesterdat ect

  • @yourtwistedable John was just as good. Revolution, Help, Hard day's night, Norwegian wood, Across the universe, Dear Prudence, Lucy in the sky with diamonds A day in the life Strawberry fields Hey bulldog etc etc.
  • @yourtwistedable I'm a Paul fan too - Pauls songs that I love: I'll follow the sun We can work it out Paperback writer, Lovely Rita She came in through the bathroom window You never give me your money Junk Teddy boy Hey Jude George wasn't too bad either with a portfolio of absolute classic songs under his belt. Ringo's just Ringo but helped to make the fabs what they were and he was also a good drummer who gets a lot of unfair criticism.
  • @thetwilightzone100 Uh....NOPE!

  • lol *i'm paul. i'm angry posing*

was thinking of songs to put on my fiancee's mix cd for vday and one paul song led to another and i remembered this one. its beautiful and sadly describes me to a t lol

  • this song is awesome which is weird cuz without john helping him write songs, they were just not the same. butttttttttttttt he did do really good songs by himself.

  • john hardly EVER helped him write a song

  • he didnt seriously....its a common misconception....only in the early days......and vice versa. the witer 9 times out of ten brings the finished arrangement to the band. mccartney has actually said this himself.

  • What are you talking about? They wrote together in the early days but mostly wrote alone after that.

And Paul certainly didn't need "help" writing his songs. If anything it was the other way round, Paul always was more gifted melodically.

  • thats what im saying andrew....i agree....

  • Oh, did I reply to you by mistake?

    It was meant for db113113.

  • @cleverandrew123 I agree, Paul has come up with some remarkable material over the years, sadly though in my opinion his albums were very much a mix of fantastic and mediocre, I find I skip a lot of tracks on most of his CDs but the highs are very high indeed. A genius, just inconsistent. I always found John too cool for school and a bit arrogant, therefore this was a barrier to me truly appreciating his music. Respect to Paul, John and you.

  • Thank you. And who bloody well cares? They both had a different style of writing. Why compare apples to oranges?

  • You are so right. They both wrote numerous classic songs.

  • 93khj,transister radio all that, great song..

  • amazing song... as usual XD

    no surprise there lol

  • That beard made him look like a preacher ;) Great song!

  • Ah! I LOVE this song!!!! almost forgot about this one.

  • I like the photo of Paul.

  • This is a great song. I love it !!!!!!!!!!

  • i keep coming back to this song. beatles tunes were the best, but this is a gem. probably something he would have recorded with the other guys if they had stayed together.

  • I used to adore this songs; - but hearing it today, so many years on...I dont know...catchy, yes.

  • perhaps my fav macca song although that changes all the time phebe snow version brill to

  • who else acheived wat sir macca has,not even m jackson...rip

  • Macca > MJ

Not even close. I mean,.... if you just take Paul's solo career after the Beatles then it's still not even close.

  • @wellisaythat mj and paul have both talent on their own right,ok i like more paul but this doesnt means paul has so much more talent than mj

  • Comment removed

  • @wellisaythat @wellisaythat How do you compare a pop artiste to a rock n' roll artiste.. They are both gifts to music and legends in their own right.

  • MC CARTNEY (1970) Is a great Album,very craft.

  • They say Bach must have been assisted by a higher being (God) his music was so impossibly high. Perhaps McCartney was/is (not that you can really compare the two geniuses.

I think for an Englishman to have been the right age (10) when the Beatles were just starting, is indeed my very greatest fortune.

  • Im from Holland but is my best fortune to!!!!

I grew up with all their music. Paul...I love him all my life and for ever. Love from Patty

    Holland

  • We've lived history. The Beatles/McCartney are a gift to us.. just be grateful and dig it..

  • Paul McCartney is one of the greatest musical talents to ever grace our earth... That's the simple truth.

An amazing musician, and an amazing human being...

  • @ThaJackaLzClone well said

  • @ThaJackaLzClone completely agree with your comment
