And marsnr1,you cannot judge people's intentions, not all have that mind set. Some may want to show off to show that they are "good" Muslims, while others wear a scarf for its correct purpose. God will judge us on what we deserve.
We do cover ourselves because we do not want to be appealing to men. No, not 'see how good I am' but 'see what a wonderful muslim i am? but you can't touch me.' all the revealing clothes is just more appealing, wouldn't you think? May Allaah guide you. Ameen.

I Im not insulting im just asking a simple question. Why do Islamic women wear make up, does it not defeat the purpose of wearing a hijab? If they wear hijab to please Allah, then why where makeup, to attract men?, or to look beautiful for who? To feel good about themselves? but i thought hijab was worn by women who are proud of their natural inner beauty that Allah gave to them.... and i thought they wanted to be modest about their appearance?

I think they wear it to please God, but it is ordered for some reason. Being a guy, i can say that it is almost impossible for guys to consider jijab wearing woman sexual object. My Ex Wife (a born Muslim) forced my 12yrs old daughter to remove her Hijaab, bcos the coach full of 'Muslim' women were scarfless & going to the seaside beach !
The 'Muslim' women taunted my 12yrs old daughter to stop wearing the Hijaab as they felt 'ashamed' !
Both mother & daughter now don't wear Hijaab at all !

God knows the capability of humans, because he created us. He knows us more than we know ourselves. Therefore, in Islam, these requirements (dressing modestly, etc) are in our benifit, though you may not realize it (one thing leads to another). And marsnr1,you cannot judge people's intentions, not all have that mind set. Some may want to show off to show that they are "good" Muslims, while others wear a scarf for its correct purpose. God will judge us on what we deserve.

And when you find her keep it halal and make sure there is always a third person with the two of you (such as her mahram or her friend) And when you`re sure shes the one follow the sunnah and marry her. Hope that helps=)

i get your point, even though i'm not Muslim, but i have a question. in India, don't they wear eyeliner because of the sun, and i assumed the same in Arabia. this is just some old thing i heard in childhood. i know the purpose of the hijab is both modesty and respect, but i must say the women look very pretty in them, with or without any makeup. i like the all black one that only shows the eyes, it's amazing. i agree that women should not to be bothered out in public by non-relatives.

i agree that women do look more beautiful in hijab...in every way...beauty, dignity, personality...but i dont like the fact that they think its only coverin their hair...its also not showin the shape of the body and not wearin too much make-up...some make-up is good...i respect they are tryin to get there but they have to try harder...the body of a women is more attractive to a man than her hair...dont get it wrong... you will still look as beautiful...but more natural, thats the beauty in it
