In an alternate reality, how the hell would Asuka be there in the first place? Wouldn't she be with Kyoto and her other family members in Germany? She most likely wouldn't have committed suicide, since she never had a contact experiment with the Eva, since they didn't exist. And without Evas, Asuka shouldn't be in Japan. She was only there for piloting.
