  • Best cover of the lot done in my opinion. Bryan Adams one was brilliant and some other good ones, but the effort put into this one was top-notch.

  • cracking cover well done

  • i love how the sit in the hall playing the guitars just like the beatles did to get a better acoustic sound. also love how they use a comb and piece of paper to creat that wierd noise, just like the beatles did. thats one reason why the beatles were fantastic, as they didnt have computers to create their music sounds, they actually made it. <3

  • great version, but come on how can you compare travis with the beatles! come on!

  • this is not a cover. this is a copy.

  • @nirvanozo when a band or musician makes a version of a song already released its called a cover no matter your opinion of its quality

  • Really like this cover

  • That was sweet!

  • I just like that he doesn't mess with it.

  • bravo! :)

  • They play ok, he sings ok, But my God it's BOOORIING!

  • Not a masive Travis fan, but this is a beautiful version.

  • wedding band!

  • Well as they were doing this on the original four track equipment thought it was just brilliant.

  • 0:30, 0:53 LOL :D

  • 2:44 xD haha

  • I like Travis but the vocals are too weak for this song! Still it's ok!

  • Yes, it all sounds a bit staged and rigid - but they were doing their best to put together the same bits and pieces that The Beatles went for on the original and they definitely didn't have as much time. They basically had 2 options; try and cover the original as much as possible with the eeks and shrieks - or put their own "diddly-plonks" in... if they did that latter, it wouldn't sound like The Beatles, so they stuck with the former. It's not really a bad effort, after all - for Travis ;)

  • I think this is a pile of shit.

  • too rigidly reproduced.

  • This is nothing compared to Paul Mccartneys controlled powerful vocal ability. This doesnt do it for me, feels too thin.

  • Beautiful !!!

  • Wow! I usually don't like covers at all, but this was great! Spot on!

  • not bad, but he had to strain a lot. i couldn't do better, just sayin.

  • Wow why so much hate?? this is an AMAZING cover with EXCELLENT attention to detail. the singer did a great job too

  • A pretty literal cover of the song.

  • this sucks thse guys are horrible. the original is way better (cuz it always is XD

  • Better than the original in my opinion.

  • @alternative10000 BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL?? its a beatles song! are you serious? come on.

  • @TDubsesbueno I love both bands too :) <3

  • @TDubsesbueno

    are you tard or what?

  • @TDubsesbueno

I mean the dumb who said better than the original

  • vocals are failed.....very bad cover..

  • I'd shit my pants if I did such a sweet cover like this.

  • MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMALISIMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • 34 people were fined by a meter maid ;-)

  • awesome cover, they try to make it sounds like the beatles, love this....

  • I love it when bands play decent songs and do it cause they can and it is there passion and not to make money from it

  • lennonsbiggestfan, What are you nuts? Travis were quite faithful in the reproducing of this very "difficult song to copy"....I applaud their incredible effort and congratulate them on being the most "Beatles" like group on this studio special.

    Great work lads!

  • what instrument do they play at 0:31 please respond!!!

  • @TheTwoPlumbers It's not really an instrument. It's a comb and paper, if you blow into it the vibrations create a great sound. Very hard to do but if done well sounds brilliant. As is the case here.

  • @mattyj6453789 thanks

  • Beatle fan's in their element I'd say there, best cover by any of the artists imo, Travis used to be called Glass Onion don't you know, mmmm wonder where they got that name from : ) 10/10

  • i just love it!!!

  • One of the best covers of this beautiful song!

  • very nice trbute,thaks

  • I LIKE IT !!!

  • someone tell me how you call that thing that you blow? ppppliiiiissssssssss

  • @effvsa Combs covered with toilet paper. That's what The Beatles used when they record the song.

  • Not bad.

Disney "singers", Britney and many others: Watch and learn! If you're going to cover a song, do it well. Covering a song doesn't mean you have to destroy it. .

  • one of the best covers of the beatles i ever heard!

  • muy buen cover, perfectamente prolijo!

  • You guys did very good. This is by far the best cover I've ever heard of this Beatles tune. My hat is offf to you.

  • My first ever post! This is a very accurate and I think respectful tribute. It does underscore the unique brilliance that is McCartney - the song, the bassline and yes, the voice.

Nice attention to those backing harmonies and that all too familiar RIC tone . Didn't know about the comb n paper - thx lads I really enjoyed this, as she sad way beyond awesome. I also loved the Oasis effort on Within U Without U.

  • its nice and all.. but paul just had the voice

  • It's boring when cover songs sound exactly the same as the original

  • ching00nn!!! yheaa!!!

  • How dare this bunch of wet farts even think of doing a cover of a Beatles tune...!

  • @redmilkfloat first of all this was for the anniversary of Sgt. Peppers and alot of bands did similar tributes and second of all I thing they did a very good job. Also remember who Fran (the singer) has to compare with. Sounding as good as Paul is very difficult.

  • now the question is did the beatles do this with so many scenes??? i think they only did it in 1 which is stupid me or awesome beatles. the beatles are awesome anyway what the fuck am i saying!!!!!!!!!

  • omg this cover is like friggin amazing!!!!

  • Check out our channel stringsattached. We have a lot of great Beatles covers!

  • @Stringsattached

I recorded a beatles cover too! Its spam on spam action right here ;-)

  • Wow I like this version. Beatles beat everyone, but this version also rocks. Nice going, guys.

  • Best cover for sure!

  • this is great!!! i love this version

  • I am gutted, I recorded this on video when it was on a couple of years ago and someone recorded over it. If anyone knows when the programme is going to be on again i would love to know - guess I have missed it for good. Bryan Adams in his one take of the album cover, Stereophonics, it was just brilliant.

  • One of the best Beatles version on You Tube...Outstanding !!!

    Thanks for sharing..

    renato

  • They did nothing new with the song -- if I wanted to listen to the same exact version, I will stick with The Beatles.

  • @2taggs2 That wasn't the point of the programme in all fairness. It was a 40 year celebration of The Album. A lot of modern groups sang old tracks and the idea was that they were all done on 4 track as initially. Stereophonics, Bryan Adams doing the title track, it was just amazing.

  • Wow! I really love this version. I hardly ever like cover, and even more when we are talking about Beatles covers. And this one is really good. I liked it a lot. Not even U2 impressed me as much as Travis did with this song. They even played it almost note by note...perfect. Cheers, Travis! Really a good band.

  • Bloody marvellous! I love Fran from Travis and love the beatles, so its perfect.

  • What is the object used at 0:31 and 0:53 ?

  • @monusername comb & paper

  • @dboz33 : Do you know how it works ? They blow on it or something ?

  • @monusername Well, you put the paper under the comb, and you tender the paper. You blow in this, and you've this sound. It's a bit like a ''harmonica'' (in French, I don't know how to say it in english :d)

Sorry for mistakes, but I'm French. :p

  • @Necrous78 : Je suis français aussi ( val-de-marne ) ^^. Tu peux me redire ça en français stp ?

  • @monusername Yeah I think you hold or wrap the paper around a comb and blow a certain way to produce a kazoo type sound, There is video listed in the related videos section to right called 'travis do sgt pepper' or something like that. Its a behind the scenes thing on how they recorded the song. They briefly discuss the comb and paper and they show them trying hit specific notes with it. Apparently it isn't easy.

  • @dboz33 Thanks mate, they seem to use news paper

  • This is my favorite cover done during these sessions

  • 0:52 ate 0:58

  • @portoalegr asif u even realised that haha

  • awsome-tastic!

  • @jdrt10 POP TASTIC EVEN

    FAB ..GEAR

  • Nice!

  • Quem só ouve, acha q é o Paul cantando mesmo!! *.*

  • Away!!!!

  • This and Stevie Wonder's version of We Can Work It Out are the best Beatles covers! :-)

  • i absolutely love this! <3

  • Rita!!

  • in a parallel universe, travis wrote this song :)

  • Quite good! I agree that the music is better than the harmonies, but then again, beatles' harmonies are hard to match! :)

  • Lovely, Travis!

  • Genial

  • neat harmonies!

  • musically very good, i dont thin k the vocal is strong enuf

  • @lennonsbiggestfan well they can't all be paul mccartney

  • @lennonsbiggestfan Yeah, for a guy that does not play anything.

  • If you love this album or song you would never, never have to read the lyrics. Thanks to my P&M for loving Sgt Peppers as much as I still do 40 years later.

  • great !

when he sings he looks like Wallace from Wallace and Gromit

  • Nice job

  • i love travis i love the beatles!!

  • I think that to all the peeps that say that doing an exact cover is pointless, i agree but this was not meant to be released on an album or anything, it was made to commemorate the Sgt. pepper album so i think they did a perfect job of honoring it

    love you travis :)

  • FANTASTICCCCCC!!!!!!!!!

  • Uburei, if you call me purist, you're so wrong ! To me Travis version is purist : exact notes, same orchestration, same details, no re interpretation. I'd love to hear something fresh and inventive, here it's a clone song missing what's cool on the original version.

  • @edmatper no one can beat the beatles version

  • travis is great but Paul is better

  • nice Travis is really good but Paul sings better but i still love this version

  • I don't see the point of covering a song with the same orchestration ... they should re interpret it ! Of course it's a great song but listen to the Beatles version, Paul is such a better singer !

  • If you watched the entire documentary, the point of it was twofold.

First, to celebrate the anniversary of Sgt Peppers, the second was to show some of today's bands, how the Beatles had to record things "back in the day" to see if they could do it without all the modern tech.

  • but who is saying that Frank is better than Paul??

  • I say that ! And I'm even better singer than Frank !! lol

  • no jodas pues!!

  • LOVE IT!

  • very nice xD

  • @bluemeanie81 Wtf are you talking about? Travis was the best band out of all of them doing the covers. Everyone else made the songs sound like crap. Some where TOO fast or their vocals/instrumentation was wrong and off. These guys sound as close to the real version than anyone else. Very well done cover.

  • i agree, fool thing being a purist

  • Exceptional!

  • thank god i got the BBC covers The Beatles - SGT Pepper Lonely Hearts Club Band, Album.

This song is one of my all time fav.

  • great cover! Best cover I've heard of this song so far:)

  • wow pretty damn good

  • it's just perfect

  • oh this is just way beyond awesome!! so well done!! travis seems to have a real respect for the beatles and their music and it shows with this amazing cover <3

thank you so much for sharing these!:)

  • As close to the real thing as you're gonna get!

  • wow!! :O this is incredible!!

  • wow. y'all did a good job! love seein' how ya did it, too :)

  • Amazing.

  • Able indeed!

  • Is there a CD on sale with those covers on it?

  • the best cover!

  • great

  • Muy buen cover, yeah Travis

  • They sound like a beatles cover band. Good but they were afraid to put their own twist on it. Am I right in saying thar travis orginally a beatles cover band? Think they used to call themselves the glass onions.

  • そのままやん!

  • yo.. fucking good.

you don't need to add your own stuff, i love it just the way you guys do it

  • I thought they did a good job, and besides this song doesnt need any changes made to it.

The beatles songs I like that have been covered and altered/changed are I am a Walrus by Oasis (Live at Glasgow is a quality version) and also Sexy Sadie by Paul Weller

  • with a cover you have to make basically a new song for it to be worth listening to i.e jimi hendrix all along the watchtower and hey joe he changed the songs drastically, its seems like they have even put on a bit of a liverpool accent...( they might be from liverpool) but anyway bad cover........

  • The thing that I love most about this particular cover was that Travis didn't try to embellish the original or give it a twist. They emulated and played the song superbly!

  • Travis dont need to make the song their own for commercial reasons, it was a tribute session, and they were great at it, they are a v succesful band in their own right jesus, they were simply payin homage, a bit of fun and tip top, i aint a Travis fan so i'm being impartial. Was good end of

  • Their expressions made me laugh, especially in the beginning - nerds in the studio kind of look

  • Very nice execution, but no adaptation at all. You got any talent, then create or modify and contribute something to music. This is very good, as I said, but very forgettable.

  • I agree. It may as well be singing karaoke. There is no interpretation whatsoever, note for note replication almost

  • you're absolutely right. the kaiser chiefs were the best to adapt the song to their style from the sessions in my opinion.

  • I don't think they were going for originality or trying to express themselves. They were going purely for Mimesis, which is sometimes respectable. Especially when it's this well-done.

for example, Of Montreal does some really wonderful covers that put their flavor onto the song. But they also do some that are very similar. Just because a band can sound just like the original doesn't mark them talentless.

  • Wow, brilliant cover from travis.

  • They don't say "leave it" at the end

  • I think this is the best one from the 40th anniversary celebration, along with Bryan Adam's version of Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band!

    Well done, Travis!

  • awesome!

  • This is a superb effort by Travis.

  • great version!

  • well done!!

  • One of the best cover of The Beatles

  • If I didn't saw the video I would say this is the original cover..

  • i have to agree with the one who says it sounds too close to the original, i would've liked to see them really make it their own. sorry to rain on everyone's parade. but that aside, it sounds great!

  • This is also my favorite song on the album, but it isn't because it is catchy. The bass in the song is so melodic, and I think the bassist in this band hit it right on the nose. It sounds like it's been taken from the original recording, it's so exact.

  • Someone recently told me that the chords in this tune are unusual... I am asking a musician to advise if that is true ?

  • It's mostly quite conventional chords, but there are a few progressions that you wouldn't see very often.

  • By a "progression" do you mean the order of the chords ?

  • Well, both the order of them and the ones that are used. For example, if you look at the progression in the first bit of the verse, "Lovely Rita, meter maid, nothing can come between us", it's using I VIIb IV, which is a common progression, which is also in "Hey Jude" for example, or "Lyla" by Oasis. However when it goes "standing by a parking meter, when i caught a glimpse of Rita", the chords are a bit more unusual: I IV VIIb IIIb- not a progression you'd see often but still not a crazy one.

  • It's unusal cause of the order and cause the chords aren't ones that you'd necessarily see very commonly in the key that the song is in.

  • Congratulations on this - great cover.

    May I inquire discreetly...

  • Yes! Travis can do it. They managed to sing this as good as original which is impressive.

  • smashing cover!!

  • Great! Congratulations Travis

  • yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

  • This is one of my favorite tunes from the album and this has done it a might bit of good justice.

Very nice. The harmonies are just awesome.

  • beautiful cover!

  • good cover!

  • i have to agree...

  • such a good cover

  • hahaahahahah! my name is rita! :D

  • hello rita!!! lovely rita
