  • @metalheaduy nah, it's definitely a song

  • @FixxxeR208 checkout "canon" by Johannes Pachebel, thats another epic classical song which seems to strike a chord with quite a few metalheads. Pun intended

  • you should make a playlist of this

  • This song..... is absoulutely glorious. It brings to mind boats and the open seas..... or skies.... steampunk airships, anyone?

    Pirates for the win!

  • The only classic piece that gives me the chills. And being performed live by a legend such as Michael Kamen is way better.

  • I LOVE this album,it has to be my fav. I especially love Fuel from this Album...amazing and i love this combo. :)

  • This song sends shivers up my spine whenever I hear it. Morricone was a genius!!

  • @filrut He's not dead!

  • Amazing concert, enjoy it.

  • @Rassie4 Ennio Morricone is an italian composer and has composed this song in 1966 for the Sergio Leone's movie "Il buono, il brutto e il cattivo" ("The good, the bad and the ugly").

  • My 21 gun salute will be to this song USMC/USAF

  • they're motherfucking great...this music is awesome!

  • I bet it was way more fun for these guys to perform for this crowd than for the average boring classical music crowd. Its cool that metallica made this song popular. its an awesome piece.

  • @aardvark445 I thought Clint Eastwood did that dude :)

  • @Unclejona Nah, movie people dont go for the music. I saw that movie years ago and diddnt care who wrote the song.

  • @aardvark445 ahah, come on! I think that maybe Morricone is more famous than metallica xD In fact Metallica did this as a tribute to Morricone

  • @vukodalck Spoken like a guy named Vukodalk. Remember, not everyone comes from Podlovskyland. Metallica is an American band, and in America, nobody gives a shit about classical composers. The only reason we ever heard this song in the first place is because of our love for cowboy movies.

  • @aardvark445 bla bla bla, I'm a big fan of Metallica and they are famous in Podlovskyland. I just wanted to tell you that Metallica did this as a TRIBUTE to Ennio Morricone. By the way how can a guy named aardvark455 (from... well.. maybe Mars) say something about my nickname? xD

P.S. only musically dumb people doesn't give a shit to classical composers because "rockers" theirself have knowledge of classical music ;)

  • @vukodalck "P.S. only musically dumb people doesn't give a shit to classical composers " Exactly. hence my comment- "Its cool that metallica made this song popular" Popular with dumb people. The majority of metallica fans over here are backwoods losers. This song is the first classical piece they've ever heard, and its doubtful that theyll ever listen to another one on purpose unless a mainstream band makes an album like this.

  • @vukodalck

The members of Metallica are great musicians, unfortunately, their biggest fans in america are missing all their teeth because they spent their toothpaste money on beer and weed. Thats why listening to this orchestra is a privilege theyll never understand.

  • i love the public slowley gets louder in the silent intro

    and the whole performances

  • I love this! It gives me goosebumps every time ^_^

  • Morricone & Metallica...what a great mix!

  • @joepesciscat If you want THIS version then dont grab the metallica cover. Instead look for the original by Ennio Morricone. The Metallica version is always used to open their live concerts as their way of showing appreciation to Ennio.

  • i shiver from the epicness of this very fucking song. oh my fucking gawd.

  • R.I.P Michael Kamen !! you was the best !!

  • The Good, The Bad And The Ugly. AWESOME FILM, MOTHER FUCKING AMAZING MUSIC !

  • This is a GREAT tribute to Metalica from the orchestra and it is full of power, emotion, thought prevoking and moving, infact I might go as far as saying this could be one of THE most moving pieces of music I have had the pleasure of listening to and although not a musition myself, yet, I have spent a large portion of my life around music in all its forms and this is possibly one of the best. But thats just my opinion. Fan for 22 years n still goin! ;)

  • Pay homage to all who have fallen, in music and in all. R.I.P Michael Kamen & Cliff Burton

  • Cliff would've LOVED to do S&M! :D it still breaks my heart that he couldn't live to see this...

R.I.P. Cliff Burton and Micheal Kamen!

  • i want to get married with this song or well can work also in my funerl well i going to used in the first thing that come

  • i got the chills throuought this whole thing, man i wish i were there!

  • wish i were there...

  • R.I.P cliff burton and michael kaman

  • This song is epic!!!! R.I.P. micheal kamen :'(

  • I'll cry when i hear that song live in 2 days

    Metallica!!!

  • This show was godly

  • "The man in black fled across the desert, and the Gunslinger followed"

  • @DemonWarp65 man that was a good movie, and the song, fucking-a-mazing

  • @RevisedTV Actually, the line was from "The Dark Tower Chapter I: The Gunslinger" by Stephen King. If you have never read it, give it a shot. If graphic novels are more your thing, then check out the adaptations by Marvel Comics which were adapted by Peter David and illustrated by Jae Lee and Richard Isanove. And there are rumors of a series of movies directed by J.J. Abrahams. The Good, The Bad & The Ugly was an epic movie though.

  • Get in there mate!! (the Dark Tower awaits).. :P

  • @DemonWarp65 Dude, was this quote off a book or a film? If it's a book was it "The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger"?

  • @njnifty Yes it was. If you have not read it, and you ever get a chance, do read it. It's kind of like "What if JRR Tolkien and HP Lovecraft collaborated on a western directed by Sergio Leone". Currently there is talk of a series of films directed by JJ Abrahms (sp?)

  • @DemonWarp65 Yeah I have all 7 books :) I think they're the some of the best books I've ever read! Although I like the Eragon series more ^^

  • @DemonWarp65 is the Gunslinger related to the song in some way?

  • @dave0504 Well not exactly. The character was heavily influenced by Clint Eastwood's "Man with no Name" character from the three Sergio Leone films he starred in. It just seems (to me anyway) that if the story had a soundtrack, the majority of it would be composed by Ennio Morricone. I am sure some of his music will be used if JJ Abrahams gets the greenlight to make the movies.

  • @DemonWarp65

    Fuck yes friend

  • @DemonWarp65 Seriosly. What Film . . . "Unforgiven" . . ? Jippy In That Case . . .#

  • @AlftqhRoussfe Actually it was used in "The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly". I am sure it was the third "Man with no name" film. The other two are "A Fistful of Dollars" and "A Few Dollars More"

  • @DemonWarp65 Heàrtly Thànc`s 4 Knowing . . . The "3-Duell" ShotOùt w Òne Smuck Gòne... "Ànd The Other Òne Hànging Hìgh" . . . :) Thàncs 4 Knowing . . . .

  • @AlftqhRoussfe No prob bob!

  • @DemonWarp65 Yep,that's correct dude

  • @DemonWarp65 what does that have to do with anything? and before you ask, yes I have read that book

  • @SpartanMartan973 I just thought that if there were ever movies based on the books, this song would fit right in seeing as Clint Eastwood's "Man With no Name" character was the inspiration for Roland.

  • @DemonWarp65 fair enough

  • @DemonWarp65 hell fuckin yes

  • Kamen came up with this idea back when he did work for Metallica on the Black Album with Nothing Else Matters, they shurged the idea off for a good number of years and then they were asked about it in an interview and got the itch to do it and the rest is history, this is the best Rock and Symphony cd/dvd ever made ... kiss and the symphony sucked

  • it was originally burtons idea, but sadly he never lived to do it

  • really? wow now thats sad :/

  • R.I.P. Michael Kamen

  • @danpropst Did Michael Kamen die?

  • @adam3486 Back in 2003...

  • @adam3486 Yes, on November 18, 2003 after a heart attack.

  • i heard that it was michael kamen idea to make this album any know if its true?

  • @mactager , i remember reading somewhere that originally it was cliff burton's idea. RIP cliff !!

  • Kamen said they could do a show like that. They called him up several years later and asked him to help put it together

  • Yes, it's He's idea, watch making of S&M ;)

  • he suggested the idea since he worked with them in the black album for "Unforgiven" but later was metallica the ones who told them to make it happen.

Anyway i think Kamen is a really great Maestro. And pretty cool too.

    Keep Rockin'

  • class concert, makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up!!!

  • YEEEES i feel the same! This touch feelings, omg, i admit i have envy of people that got there...

  • TUCO:))))

  • its just because metallica have humerous names for their live things... you know, like cunning stunts = stunning cunts, and like

davidwilcox1982 said, it normally stands forsado masichism.

  • Definitely. He was only 55 when he died. RIP

  • actually, S&M stands for San Francisco symphony orchestra and metallica

  • I agree!

  • look at the Label of S&M

S : look like the Sol key, so it's is Symphony

M : it's METALLICA, off course But think of whatever you want xD For me , when I am listening this song, "S&M" is " Sweet And Magnificent "

  • my bro has the dvd of the concert...i never thought sitting at a tv nd watching music would be interesting...but it is amazing and the music is brilliant

  • Best into music EVER!!!!!

  • Magnifique !

  • s&m is the best metallica gig ever!

  • i am very sure it stands for Symphony

  • S&M stands for Symphony and Metallica dude

  • Are you sure? I think the S stands for San francisco symphony

  • wats the S&M stand fer?

  • Symphony And Metallica

  • Usually it stands for SadoMashicism (assuming I've spelled that wrong), but I'm sure it's not referring to it in this case ;)

  • it stands for "symphony and metallica" :P

  • Rust In Peace Michael Kamen

  • @Swamp666heaD

diden't megadeth do rust in peace

    GET YOUR BAND RIGHT

  • i love this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • say what you like about metallica, they al least love to experiment and always give a great show. people realy underestimate the raw power a orchetra can put out

  • best intro ever

  • G Ä N S E H A U T ! ! !

  • to have been here had to have been better than going to heaven... it had to be... chills run up and down my spine everytime i listen to any song on this album...

  • when metallica started to use this song as an intro???

  • it has probably been early, but when they did Live Shit: Binge and Purge

  • I think during the Kill Em All For One Tour.

  • love that intro

  • there are no words to describe this..

  • It gives me goosebumps...
