@FixxxeR208 checkout "canon" by Johannes Pachebel, thats another epic classical song which seems to strike a chord with quite a few metalheads. Pun intended
@Rassie4 Ennio Morricone is an italian composer and has composed this song in 1966 for the Sergio Leone's movie "Il buono, il brutto e il cattivo" ("The good, the bad and the ugly").
I bet it was way more fun for these guys to perform for this crowd than for the average boring classical music crowd. Its cool that metallica made this song popular. its an awesome piece.
@vukodalck Spoken like a guy named Vukodalk. Remember, not everyone comes from Podlovskyland. Metallica is an American band, and in America, nobody gives a shit about classical composers. The only reason we ever heard this song in the first place is because of our love for cowboy movies.
@aardvark445 bla bla bla, I'm a big fan of Metallica and they are famous in Podlovskyland. I just wanted to tell you that Metallica did this as a TRIBUTE to Ennio Morricone. By the way how can a guy named aardvark455 (from... well.. maybe Mars) say something about my nickname? xD
P.S. only musically dumb people doesn't give a shit to classical composers because "rockers" theirself have knowledge of classical music ;)
@vukodalck "P.S. only musically dumb people doesn't give a shit to classical composers " Exactly. hence my comment- "Its cool that metallica made this song popular" Popular with dumb people. The majority of metallica fans over here are backwoods losers. This song is the first classical piece they've ever heard, and its doubtful that theyll ever listen to another one on purpose unless a mainstream band makes an album like this.
The members of Metallica are great musicians, unfortunately, their biggest fans in america are missing all their teeth because they spent their toothpaste money on beer and weed. Thats why listening to this orchestra is a privilege theyll never understand.
@joepesciscat If you want THIS version then dont grab the metallica cover. Instead look for the original by Ennio Morricone. The Metallica version is always used to open their live concerts as their way of showing appreciation to Ennio.
@joepesciscat This EXACT version? No. Why would there be, its live. But you can find lots of recordings of "The Ecstasy of Gold". Its a classic piece lots of orchestras play
People, Justin Bieber has destroyed Youtube. In the comments section of nearly every music video I see, there are either trolls saying how great he is, or people trashing his music. Why can't we just discuss what ever was discussed before Justin Bieber ruined it, because its just annoying. Thumbs up if you agree to ignore the trolls and talk about the awesome rock/metal music you are watching with out sounding like an asshole
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO metallica rule, Rest In Piece Michael k
You have to remember that these players are definitely NOT used to loud applause and wild cheers. I'm sure it was a big shock to recieve this kind of welcome from such a different crowd than they are used to. Awesome piece here!
This is a GREAT tribute to Metalica from the orchestra and it is full of power, emotion, thought prevoking and moving, infact I might go as far as saying this could be one of THE most moving pieces of music I have had the pleasure of listening to and although not a musition myself, yet, I have spent a large portion of my life around music in all its forms and this is possibly one of the best. But thats just my opinion. Fan for 22 years n still goin! ;)
@RevisedTV Actually, the line was from "The Dark Tower Chapter I: The Gunslinger" by Stephen King. If you have never read it, give it a shot. If graphic novels are more your thing, then check out the adaptations by Marvel Comics which were adapted by Peter David and illustrated by Jae Lee and Richard Isanove. And there are rumors of a series of movies directed by J.J. Abrahams. The Good, The Bad & The Ugly was an epic movie though.
@njnifty Yes it was. If you have not read it, and you ever get a chance, do read it. It's kind of like "What if JRR Tolkien and HP Lovecraft collaborated on a western directed by Sergio Leone". Currently there is talk of a series of films directed by JJ Abrahms (sp?)
@dave0504 Well not exactly. The character was heavily influenced by Clint Eastwood's "Man with no Name" character from the three Sergio Leone films he starred in. It just seems (to me anyway) that if the story had a soundtrack, the majority of it would be composed by Ennio Morricone. I am sure some of his music will be used if JJ Abrahams gets the greenlight to make the movies.
@AlftqhRoussfe Actually it was used in "The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly". I am sure it was the third "Man with no name" film. The other two are "A Fistful of Dollars" and "A Few Dollars More"
@SpartanMartan973 I just thought that if there were ever movies based on the books, this song would fit right in seeing as Clint Eastwood's "Man With no Name" character was the inspiration for Roland.
Kamen came up with this idea back when he did work for Metallica on the Black Album with Nothing Else Matters, they shurged the idea off for a good number of years and then they were asked about it in an interview and got the itch to do it and the rest is history, this is the best Rock and Symphony cd/dvd ever made ... kiss and the symphony sucked
