  • Why auto-tune this?

  • Oh god, the last verse makes me laugh just as hard at 26 as it did when I was in kindergarten. Though I feel like if an elementary music teacher played it for five year olds today she'd be executed (and her hide would very likely be tanned and hung on the school shed as a warning).

  • From Sweden i have to say this is a good song i just love Australia

  • Aboriginies are less evolved than Europeans, if you want to dispute that statement you can, but deep down you know it's true.

  • @The505Guys

This post displays a startling ignorance of Evolutionary theory. The phrase "less evolved" is gibberish, scientifically speaking. At a stretch it could be taken to mean that there has been less change throughout generations, if it meant anything at all. Such a statement wouldn't mesh with the racist undertone of "you know it's true," however, and *definitely* wouldn't make sense as a truth intuited and rejected.

    In short:

    You sir, are an idiot.

  • @DimakArkanian while i appreciate your correction of that guy i must say that he could refer to their way of living, environment or technology, not their evolution as humans

  • @The505Guys They're human, they've evolved just as much as anybody else. They probably evolved differently because of the local environment, but that doesn't make them any less evolved than you. You might have been looking for the word "civilized", but even that is untrue from someone's perspective. To some, civilization is the wild jungle. To others, it's the urban jungles of cities like Tokyo and New York City. Either way, your statement makes you seem like a self-centered, egotistical moron.

  • @The505Guys If you took a bunch of Europeans from thousands of years ago and dropped them off in Australia, they probably would have died out. They certainly wouldn't have "evolved" to create a society resembling what's there today. Modern Australia is only made possible by domesticated animals and steel tools etc. brought in from Europe, which weren't available before that. The fact that the Aborigines survived so long long in such a hostile place if anything makes them more evolved.

  • @sacvideo1998 - Modern Australia was created by taking a bunch of British convicts and dumping them on the SE coast of Australia with only the most basic supplies and tools. The first fleet only brought one bag of nails! They nearly did die out from starvation and relied on supply ships for the first 20 years.

The Aborigines did exactly what the inuit did, they learned how to live with the environment and use it to their advantage. Hardly makes them more evolved, just smarter.

  • @The505Guys

if less 'civilized' means less war, killing, etc. ... then let's ALL get less civilized!

  • The only casual music i could think better of is Spanish Fly

  • asome i love imogen

    \

  • You know after listening to it for awhile I recognized it. I used to sing it when I was a kid.

  • Oh great. I'm gonna be singing this song for the next 2 weeks. :)

  • I thought aboriginees didn't like having their pictures taken...?

  • ...........DANCES AROUND

  • I think Rolf was well aware of the controversey of the term Abo.. but went for artistic authenticity, the man has never displayed anything but an accute awareness of the plight of Indigenous Australians... and to those who talk about it being the dying wishes of an Australian cowboy, especially Australians... there is no cowboys in Australia.. only Jackaroos :p

  • Oh I LOVE it!

  • Oh I LOVE it!

  • I like this song. It kicks ass especially since its about the last dying wishes of a Australian cowboy. Yes its brutal especially the end.. LOL

  • if this is the dying wishes of a stockman how many xxxx did he have.

  • @cappsoutlaw

Hey, they used to sell Castlemaine XXXX here in SoCal , but I have not seen any in about 10 years. They sold them in little fat bottles.

  • I can listen to this song over and over, never get sick of it.

  • love it

  • Everytime I hear this song,I think about the wrestler they call 'Outback Jack' from the old WWF(whom I met once in NYC!).A fun song which never gets old!

  • well said rolf....

  • You guys have got it all wrong.

Rolf Harris never was racist against the Australian Aboriginal , Rolf sings with an Australian stryne , and we Abbreviate words like Abo for Aborigine . if he was racist he would say Coon for Aborigine its like saying nigger for Negro . Rolf sings with a true Aussie flavour and none of it is or ever was racist . when he sings " let your Abos go loose Lou" hes talking to the station boss to let the Aborinine go "Walkabout" its their lifestyle ,

  • @GDayTrueBlueAussie: I totally agree mate, there isn't a racist bone in Rolf's body, he has sung the song in true Aussie style...good on yer Rolfie.

  • Ok, well, yes the Australian "Abo" is similar to the North American "nigger". 2 words not acceptable in either place in the 21st century. Mind you now, listen to a fuckin rap song & they're callin each other "nigger" as long as it's not a white guy sayin it, it's socially acceptable. The whole world is fucked, just enjoy the song for what it is........

  • Abo's are idiots if they take offense to the word Abo. Seriously, think about it. AB "ORIGINAL", or "ABO" for short. Whats the problem??? They should take a bit of pride in themselves and take advantage of the multicultural mess that seems to arrive every day on Banana boats and establish themselves before it IS to late.

Hunting these days (around the world) comes in the form of getting up at sunrise and going out to work for the day. People are going to get jack of Aborinal benefits 1 of the

  • Just f*** you PC idiots out there, it's a great song I used to sing with me bro' and me ma' back in the early sixties.

I see the words have been doctored on other reproductions thank God they they haven't on this one.

Kind thanks to 'sambell...' for this and may you PC twats burn in hell - all you do is cause trouble so f*** all of you PC bunch of turds - bugger off already with ALL of your PC crap!!!!!!

Kind regards to the rest of you

  • So you like the tune, so what?

  • @GeorgeDedaj

'Abo', now defunct, was once used to describe the original inhabitants of the country before it was infested by land-raping, greedy europeans. It was often used to indicate stockmen who were virtual slaves on cattle stations, working for pittance.

The People's culture is highly developed... unlike a person who would use the term 'nigger' in connection with an indigenous Australian.

Fascinating to see that at least one troglodyte has managed to work out youtube comments.

  • NAZI prick!

  • @Mycorhiza

    FUNGUS AMONGUS

  • I don't give a rat's ass if the song is racist or not, it's a great song. My kids love it.

  • I LOVE THIS FCKN SONG!!!

  • Come home Rolf....By the look of it you will have those muslims ruling you next.Come home mate your missed.

  • damn right abos are no fuckin use

  • PT 1 abo abo abo abo , grow up you wankers it,s not what you say it what you do ,..as an individual and as anation, terms and phrases if it big wog ,kraut, wop, chin ,spic, spade etc, etc. have we not out grown these terms in as far as being offended by them I went to an elite private school and was the only german,

  • this was me sports day theme

    i was australia

  • to rolf cool song

  • There are tons of versions of the PC version if thats what you're looking for. There's nothing wrong with keeping the original when terms such as Abo were used. All the Aussies I know use the term "Abo" - it's ubiquitous from what I can tell. They also call me a Pom and take the p*ss out us in all variety of ways including beer and rum adverts - yet I'm not screaming foul! Political Correctness is the death of free-speech and is nothing short of facism!

  • Aw, shame it has the line about Abos in here. I was looking for a version without the offensive verse.

  • abo isnt an offensive word.

  • You clearly don't even know the meaning. "Abo," as in an offensive, disparaging term for the Aborigines, which Aussies often took into slavery. Try reading up on your history, mate...

  • are u from aus?

i know a lot of aussies who use it often and say its not offensive as 'nigger' or 'paki'

  • Yeah, actually, I am, and several of my friends have aboriginal blood down their lineages. It's considered a highly offensive term to be used generally. I mean if you know someone well enough, alright, but it's really offensive.

  • so u dont know any PURE BREED Abo's?.......just some politically correct folk who claim abo blood?

  • Alright, look buddy, it's not correct to go throwing around the term "abo." I'm not about to get into a fight with you about courtesy, there are some obvious logical flaws there.

  • logic?? PC is anything but logical. It's just a bunch of little gnomes that sit around a table and decide "What don't we like now"? What was funny in the '60's is funny today. People like you read the wrong things, and then claim"Look how good righteous we are". Not to me, jerk. =Stefan=

  • You give humans a bad name.

  • bob, humans do that on their own. Me? I don't worry if something I say offends someone. Way I look at, it they're offended, that's their problem, not mine!!! As we say, joke 'em if they can't take a fuck. I'm old enough not to worry, sonny. =Stefan=

  • To a point, I do agree you have a legitimate point, I suppose. But you have to consider that, even if "abo" isn't an offensive term, there are certainly some terms that should be steered clear of because of unquestionable offensiveness.

  • bob, why?? Offensive to who? Some politician who has an eye opener after a night's drunk? Look mate, I have been around this poor pathetic planet several times. The one thing I have found is that people wan't you to talk straight with them. "Call a spade a spade". And you know what? I never have any problems with them. Can you say the same??? =Stefan=

  • bob, I agree, there are some terms that are offensive, and should be steered clear from. Like "M.F." "S.O.B" , get where I'm going?? You are going after the WRONG terms! !Forget unquestionable offensiveness, terms like that are offensive. I refuse to be P.C. =Stefan=

  • did'nt the lyrics get changed later on?

    Does anyone know?

  • This song is sooo AUSSIE!!!

    AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE!!

    OI OI OI!!

  • this is the best song ever

  • Rolf the fascist!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this song seems kind of sad

  • Sad, a bit, since the Stockman is dying. It's also CREEPY AS HELL.

EEEEK! Tan yer hide?! Don't you want to be buried in it?!

  • Talon, it's PC, my friend. (Politically Correct). You know, we all know that politicians are liars and cheats, so being PC means that I lie and cheat. And that's what I'll do!! =Stefan=

  • other versions took out some parts

    like the aboriginees going loose

  • i have this song on my page

if you want to here it

Tie Me Surfer Board Down Sport Travelers

  • love the song:) our teacher taught it to everyone in our grade and we wnt outside singing it and hoping like kangaroos. VERY FUNNY:0)

  • wat the....

  • its kinda funny

  • lol. i think its more then kinda funny.

  • i find myself singing some of these old goodies, PC or not it is still funny and entertaining, like the other comment said- come on people-lighten up please.

  • Great song. I listened to it as a child. The argument presented in these comments as there being some kind of slam on the indigenous people of Australia is taken way out of proportion. I am of Irish descent and am a "Mc". I am proud of that. I find strength in that fact. What next, am I not allowed to call McDonalds Restaurant "Mickey D's"? After all the singer's skin is hung on the shed! Lighten up already people!

  • it wasnt racist in its time although it would be if someone sang it these days. i dont think its nessicary to start some big fight over it though

  • Great song! XD

  • great

  • haha shut up now!

  • lmfao just go away

  • A.we dont have a song that tells you to let the indigeonus people go lose as they serve no further use.

and B.what about the italians in aussie???? or maybe boat people ????

  • <3 it :P

  • stallionbabe007:

"wow this song does prove that aussies really are inbreed racists lolololol "

Do you mean similar to you New Zealanders that routinely discriminate against Asian immigrants in your country?

  • righhhhhhhhteo

  • learn how to type dofus

  • This is sang to the tune of "pass the didgery doo" lol +D xx

  • Great Song

  • i have to do it in a concert D:

  • Awesome - when songs were creative .

  • "I like That

  • "I like that"

  • loooool

  • ..CAN U GUESS WHUT IT IS YET??

  • lol churchill

  • watch me wallobies feed mate watch me wallobies feed

  • abbos use to help on the ranches now they dont do anything but drink beer and bum around.

  • lol i can imagine a bunch of tiny aussies all singing this song LOVE IT!!!.

  • i remember singing this wen i was in year 5 lol

  • losja wt a good song man!

  • Err abo's are bums, theifs, criminal niggers

  • Abbos is slang for Aboriginiees, stupid.

  • Ive heard and read from a few different sources that Rolf is quite an ignorant, rude person person. Whether thats true or not.. who knows. I don't, never met him.

  • I know that the verse is racist, but when the song was written it wasn't seen that way. We can't rewrite history. An old friend had a very old recording of Old Man River sung by Al Jolson. He sang it in the early part of the 20th century and it includes a racist word that I won't type because some idiot would think I'm dissing them. As a piece of history that version just reflects the attitudes then.

  • plus how is setting someone in bondage free construed to be negative. he say's "set me abbo's free". Maybe it's not the PC term for the aboriginal peoples of Australia, but it certainly isn't a racist sentiment that he expresses. Still I have to wonder if the have that whole "but they call each other that all the time" thing down under. Or what would 2pac sound like if he had been Australian.

  • I guess too many people believe in political correctness. I take my cue from one of my coworkers. He's a little younger than me so he grew up with black and white too. So that's how we refer to other people and don't mean any disrespect.

  • He doesn't say "set me abbos free". He says "let me abbos go loose". (a) abbos = n*ggers in Australian parlance, (b) letting them go loose alludes to the fact that they were seen more as possessions than employees on outback stations (ranches). Anyway, the problem is (a), which is why the whole verse was officially removed a long time ago. Someone coming here might want to hear the song in its present popular form and stumbling across this relic might get the wrong impression of poor old Rolf.

  • Thanks!

  • And you see absolutely no value in preserving the original version? Perhaps everyone should be reading redone versions of Tom Sawyer etc too.

  • This one goes out to all me abbo's

  • lol i was on the way to school and herd this on the mj good morning show rofl!!

  • Rolf you are genius I love you and always will!
