  • Just watched this video again. I was from Granton street and lived there for over 13 years. I miss it and i miss the community feeling. I knew Tony and met him last year, but he didn't know me when I was all grown up.

  • I miss oatlands! I lived in Granton street. I knew Tony so well and actually met him years after in Rutherglen.

  • I was 2 years old when i left 48 Roseberry St... I mInd me parents telling me about the old outside toilets and everybody that stayed up the close & all the characters of the area...

  • Absolutely brilliant.

  • I was brought up in 15 Toryglen St from 1946...I remember the Splash pub in Polmadie Rd,went over to watch Shawfield Juniors often.Used to go up to the railway line and collect "namers"I remember that Church always packed wi Sunday School kids. Left for Castlemilk when I was 12 in 1958,used to go to Bonnies primary school...left for Johannesburg 1965 still here but still have great memories of Oatlands.

  • I grew up in the Oatlands, memories of the lucky midens and raiding the skip at the booker cash an carry and finding loads of near out of date packaged goodies. The years spen t walking down Roseberry St making my way up to John Bosco School and stopping off at Abduls or Sol' s shop for swedgers! Where is everyone ?

  • Rab Gardner still stays in the new oatlands just ask around m8 ? saw him @ the bus stop @ oatlands only last week , probaly drinks in the sportsman now as half of the oatlands mob do now,,,,....you wouldent be wee berny by any chance thebhoys 100 ?

  • A fantatic bit of work really brought back loads of good memories. I was born on Roseberry St Im trying to get in touch with Robert Gardner who was my best mate he lived in Rosyth St no9 with his mum Mary Gardner lived in Roseberry St he had a big sister Morag the last time I was up in Glasgow was 2009 but the last time I saw Rab was in 2000 I think for my Dads funneral if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated

  • Do you know that im in that photo im the one with the long brown hair and the one next to me with the brown hair in a pony is my big cousin Kelsie

  • Enjoyed the video, Stumbled across my grandad(Tam Neilly) standing at the front of his close in the snow 1:08

  • Excellent video, was made extra special by finding the irish chap. You cant help thinking the heart is being ripped out of Glasgow in preperation for the commonwealth games. Places like oatlands dalmarnock and possibly bridgeton. As the irish chap said the new houses are far better than the tenements but there is no heart or soul in them. I guess nostalgia has a part to play and hopefully new generations will come in and hopefully build a new community.

  • A really touching clip! Reminds me of my family from another Glasgow Re-housing scheme. The exact same story of a community torn apart. Will Glasgow ever learn!
