just goes to show you: never carry anything less than a fully automatic machine gun with grenade launcher; those mexicans know what the duck they're doing you know. never the less, a charming scene.
now i know why it was discussed that 007 should be black...probably because of this series which suprisingly i just learned about this morning. why on earth not? yeah! worlds first black James Bond!

Firstly before you read my critics, I am telling everyone spooks is the the no1 spy drama out there today.
Shouldn't it be the SVR or GRU the responsible for foreign activities for the Russians, The FSB in Russia should be like the FBI, doemstic security ????/
*sighs* Oh Lucas Lucas Lucas.....what they have done to you in Series 9....you had so much potential, so much bravery and loyalty.....now all that is gone....
@BetaArtemis I dont think his dead. He survived in a Gulag for 8 years and had three girlfriends i am sure lucas is alive and well. Afterall theres no lead cast for section chief in series 10
@Lukeclout He's not returning for Series 10, Richard Armitage is off filming for his major part in the Hobbit, he will not even have time for Spooks. Lucas/John for all intents and purposes is dead.
@Long23 I agree with you, but then again it would be a bit sh*t if two of the main characters were assassinated in the middle of the series, wouldn't it?
You may have the time to think about these "errors" but they don't - Spooks only has a small budget and a limited time frame to make it. They don't have time to think about every possible error they make! or potiental goofs in the show etc They have more important things to do like I dunno make the bloody show...
You want realism go watch Traffic Cops or something...
1. Fire escape man couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo, and why does he need to get to the top before he starts shooting?
2. A Russian "kill squad" would surely put someone at each end of the street rather than everyone at one end.
3. MI5's best London mapping software is the A-Z on a computer monitor? Googlemaps anyone? With Streetview they'd even be able to tell them which dustbin to hide behind.
4. Why split up and THEN ask for an escape route? How does that make sense?
@Long23 Lighten up! This is meant to be entertainment! Real gunfights are boring affairs that are over in moments. So is hand to hand combat. Nobody would watch this if it was 100% realistic.
I also conveniently ignored the fact that Lucas leads the Russians to Charing Cross tube station (apparently the only tube station in existence, judging from how often it appears in films) instead of London Bridge, which is where the bomb supposedly is.
@anguslowe thanks for the "stupid idiot". I'd heard good things about Spooks, so thought I'd give it a go - my niggles are the sort of thing that could be corrected in an instant without altering budget or story. I'm aware that it is escapism, but if you're going to make a drama, why not at least try to make it as convincing as possible? These sort of lazy errors just make it feel as though writer and director don't really care about their product, and have a low opinion of their viewers.
@Long23 If you work in TV, then you would understand that not every single realism can be accounted for. Sometimes you just have to put it under dramatic license. They don't have all the time and budget to fix every single little detail. Writers/directors know that not everything can be perfect with the budget and time restraint. It's not they don't care or have a low opinion of viewers, it is simply that they do with what they have, they don't always have the luxury to make everything all real.
@Long23 1. He moved up to get better position and coverage, snipers always go higher ground since targets are moving.
2. As they said, the kill squad was just moving into position, Lucas discovered them a little too early before they could cut them off.
3. Googlemaps may have views, but it's not as effective in a firefight as you think.
4. They split up first so that Ros and Connie could head off in the different direction, allowing Lucas and Harry to draw the kill squad to a different place.
I saw part of this they were made to give up their guns to meet with a thug, and they were being tracked by MI-5 that is why Lucas is the only one with a gun
