  • German Dark Al ignites with visco...

  • Try that with German Dark Aluminum (~2-5 micron) and see what will happen to your hand... ;)

  • dont use a stick put ur hand in there bitch!

  • 9/11.

  • I hope they now know that the molten Aluminum from that reaction is at over 2500 degrees C. I'm sure they didn't know.

  • @derbydrummer the aluminium burns up, the iron is 2500 degrees c..

  • What would you do if that would have spilled on your feet ? Maybe you would like a big hole in em right?

  • Unless my hands were not important to me - I wouldnt poke that 2000 C white hot substance . Not even with a stick.

No limit for the universe and the stupidity I guess...

  • lol devastationnn

  • Don't poke the Thermite!

  • Hi, I wanna ask you a question. Did you make the Iron oxide and aluminum or did you buy them?

  • sorry, but thats stupid, and thats why you shouldnt be allowed it;

1: it was a good mix and thats ur wanking hand

2: if u dont have knowledge on how hot it is "ohh look, it light the wet wood on fire", dont use it

3:u need to make it all hit the steel at same time to melt through

4: dont ever poke it again, u might as well touch it without the sparkler

  • There had to have been impurities, look at how shitty it burned. When I've seen the shit light up, it doesn't take so long to go, and then so long to burn.

  • he's just dumb. you light that shit and u fuckin move

  • holly shit dude dont put your hand so close to it. it can melt it in less that what you can take it away.

  • what ratio of iron oxide to aluminum did you use?

and did you use Fe2O3, or FeO?

  • its Fe2O3, and i can't remember the ratio i'm pretty sure its an equal ratio by weight but not by volume cause aluminum weighs less. don't quote me on that though

  • usually i think its 2 grams of iron oxide to 1 gram of alluminum

  • " i dont have a stick" lol so youre a chick hehe

  • nice!

The flower pot widstand the heat pretty well I - ceramics can sometimes melt below 2000°C and they often crack because of sudden changes in temperature

  • We're talkin' about 4000 degress Celcius.PRETTY DANGEROUS GRANDMA!!!!!!!!!

  • its max. 2400°C

  • the flame is hotter

  • its thermit, there is no flame...

  • yes it isn't flame by the classical definition, but a few percents of the thermite mass go into gaseous state along with the surrounding nitrogen and oxygen, this produces a very hot gass, which is hotter than 2400°C (although the metal stays at 2400°C

    )

  • going into the gaseous state actualy costs energy

so how can the temperatur of the gas be higher than that of the material itself?

maybe one-tenth of a % is going gaseous, causing the smoke - no flame

if u have ever seen industrial thermit in real, which is much more proper than homemade, u would know that there is no flame and almost no smoke

the thermit in this vid is industrial thermit, along with the big sparkler

thats why it burn so well and u can even hold ur hand over it

  • look, there is some oxygen around it so....you know(there are some particles of aluminium which are in contact with oxygen (sparks..-->)

and explosions and quick pyrolant reactions don't always folow the obvious laws of thermodynamics

  • u can use make up powder to do this

  • make up powder can burn through metal and can reach over 4000 degrees farenheit? please give me details and a source.

  • sorry, but thats stupid, and thats why you shouldnt be allowed it;

5: ill post and show u how it should be done :-), im getting 500g of Iron(3) and 250g of Al tuesday ;-)

  • DEVASTATION hahaha

  • ur an idiot.

  • that was a joke dick hole dont take everything so damn serious.

  • Poking around in that thing with stuff at over 4000 degrees flying out ready to hit you?

  • you got lucky (this time) that those molten iron sparks didn't land on your foot or a worse place

  • They must have had a bad mix. Otherwise that thing under the pot would have a nice big hole in it.

  • cheap shit...

  • theres a right way to do this type of thing and then there's a dumb way - they picked the dumb way

  • you gay guy to o

  • thermite. we use it all the time at work. if you know an electrician, ask him to get you a "Cadweld shot" ...that's thermite. it comes in a container that looks like a 35mm film tube. electricians use it to weld copper together. enjoy...

  • OMG!! dont be stickin ur damn hands and HEAD into or ABOVE the reaction!! jesus. 2500 celcius iron does not mix well with ur FACE!

  • Fucking bunch of idiots.. One day they are going to blow their heads off.

  • well atleast they didn't have a naggy old dad, like you are - -'

  • Thermite is rust and aluminium stuff you need to grind the rust and alunium and put them together 8 parts rust for every 3 parts aluminium then you buy magnesium stirps and light it like a fuse dont be an idiot and start fires with this ok.

  • Yea real smart stick your fingers in a clay pot full of molten iron! LOL!

  • Thermite reactions can exceed 4000 degrees F

  • where u get thermite/how?

  • You make it, from rust.

  • Do you know how fucking hot thermite goes off at? If you did you sure as hell wouldn't be doing that.

  • Well they weren't sticking their HANDS in it...

  • Sorry if im only a kid, I dont know much thing about thermite and melting metal i would like to melt some iron copper or alluminium could someone tell me how does thermite work and the composition of it plz?

  • 8 parts iron-oxide and 3 parts aluminum, and you cant light it with a blow torch you need to light a magnesium strip first.

  • you can light it with a blow torch, or two matches, or magnesium, or anything that ignites around that temperature. magnesium is the usual mechanism, though it is a conductor, so it might start a reacton early.

  • much easier to buy the ingredients off ebay.

  • get you hands away you fool

  • well obvestly if he got molten steel on him he would simply brush it off and remain un harmed....

  • Looks pretty good to me, what were you adding magnesium?

  • hardcore.

  • man you're an idiot for standing so close what if you get freakin molten steel on you!!

  • its iron

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kOBElpi-OtU <- they have the better thermite, sorry guys

  • jut make the rust with a dc converter its easy lol umm a really good batch can melt the hood of the car and reach the pavement

  • im guessing this isnt a very high yeaild batch seeing as that thing under the pot survived. nice job thoug! :D

  • yeah, ebays the shit
