Oner of my favorite, and least favorite levels ever. I always loved the first half of the stage, (including that music) but I remember hating the second half. When I was much younger, I would always get stuck on the Crate-jumping puzzle.
-1- From what I can tell, I get an extra life about 1/3 the time when I hit a chest. I think the game picks one and gives some sort of clue that I don't know how to interpret. If I could read the clue I could get the extra life every time.
-2- To the left of the chests are displayed two numbers. They change when you hammer one of the chests. I think the number you need is the upper number after hammering. If the number reads 2431 you need to hit chest #2, then chest #4, then #3, then #1.

(1) How did you know which chest to hit for the extra life?
(2) Why didn't you go for the lots-of-stars in the 1-2-3-4 area? Use the upper set of numbers to the left of the extra-life chest.
