  • Have you ever made the aloe cacti to flower?? if it ever does, make video please=)))

  • Click click click!

  • i have a question..today i went to the store and bought a aloe barbadensis ....how much do you water yours? because it looks like a cactus and im afraid i'm going to over water it. thanks

  • @backwoodskid13 I let the soil dry out between waterings and then give it a good drink to moisten the soil. It likes that cycle. if you keep the soil moist all the time, it could kill it. They're really easy to care for though. If you forget to water them, they really don't care. I've let mine dry out for as long as a month and it didn't mind one bit.

  • is there anyway you can do a video on getting a baby plant from the mother plant???

  • @flanmanflannery I think I'll do that in late summer to show how to root clippings from outdoor tomato plants to keep them inside after they die off out in the garden. Is that what you're talking about?

  • I hear you mivx sand with your compost and it grows really strong, but what if you dont add sand to the compost and its really strong does it do bad 4 your garden?

  • @gameplay1999 I mix sand in with compost just for my seedlings indoors. You can use peat moss or perlite to lighten it up a bit and help with drainage. Pure compost might work but I think it's a tad strong to be using full strength.

  • Hi, I just bought an aloe Vera plant and I want to transplant it. Do you use only compost to transplant it into or do you mix it with half potting soil?

  • @timwagoner1 I made a mix of 1/3 sand and 2/3 compost. My aloe plant is growing out of control in it.

  • I have a large aloe plant also and i wanted to know if you can plant a clipping of an aloe also if not can you tell me how you can get a baby aloe plant from the mama plant

  • @gameplay1999 I have a huge aloe too! Aloes are fantastic plants. They propagate by producing babies right next to the stem at soil level when the mother plant gets big and a bit rootbound. When the babies get about 4-6 inches tall, gently pull then off & make sure I get as much of the baby's root as possible. Transplant it into a small pot & toss it in a sunny window. Transplant into bigger pots as it grows. Btw, potting soil is fine for this.

  • beans and peas ARE the easiest plant to actually start from scratch

  • Oh, aloe plant here in the philippines is used by people like shampoo. It is very natural for hair

  • Awsome video! I am SO doing a video on the potatoes!!!!

  • Nice video's you got.Very informative video and you are funny. Keep it up brother good job.

  • Hey nate. How's things? Mayve the bean is so small due to the limited space its roots had to grow in. As you would know, both the roots and shoots development are directly proportional to each other. What are your thoughts? Have you tried growing this type of bean outdoors? btw.. yeah I have grown bush beans before too and they are traditionally a lot smaller than climbers. :)

  • ToyMaster83, I popped it out of the container to check for rootbound condition but it isn't. I think it's either just a genetic freak or it smokes and drinks so much that it stunted it's growth. lol

But I do grow pole beans and bush beans. I'll be growing more this year. I think I prefer bush beans. Less hassle. Which do you like better? Can you taste a difference between pole and bush?

  • @Praxxus55712 I prefer the climbers because you get a better yield and they seem to have a longer producing time before the vine dies off. weird little bean you have anyway!! I know what you mean aboiut less hassle.. staking can be a real nuisance :S

  • That bean plant made me crack up! Mine was accidentally destroyed by my drunken friend, reminder: Keep drunk friends away from seedlings! I'm enjoying your vids, keep up the good work, I'm subbed!

  • janaswang, *makes a note to not allow drunken friends around my plants*

ps: that sure rules out a lot of my friends. LOL

  • you are enjoyable !

  • You must have a big window. lol ;) I grow my starter plants under lights in my garage. I have a couple of vids on my profile if you wanna check it out. Mike

  • That bean plant is sooo cute... j/k. Well actually it is. Man thats small! Thanks for the update!

  • iv'e had my bean plant for 3 almost 4 months and it oly grew 1 foot and has 2 bean pods.

  • my planted my pinnapple and the tips on the leaves are brown in the center. ive had them in the soil for about 4 weeks and nothings even happening. should i throw it out?

  • Brndon076, the leaf tips will get brown and that's cool. If the leaves in the center get totally brown and soft, well then it's dead and you should have a tiny pineapple funeral...............or throw it in the garbage. :)

  • I tried to grow two pineapples but both of them died :-(

  • jmaprins, I planted 4 and two died so far. But at least two lived! Just keep trying until one takes root. You gotta keep them well watered till they take root and give them good sunlight. Don't give up though. The nice thing is you get to eat alot of pineapple. Darn I wish I had some in my house now. I'm really in the mood for some. grrrrrr

  • did you have any snow this april?

  • Crewlla, it so weird because it's been warm and rainy this month. Normally we get some snowfalls and lots of frosts. Heck, our last frost day is May 31st but it totally looks like late spring already. I'm not falling for it because the second I plant my tomatoes outside it'll snow 3 feet and freeze solid and I'll get so mad that I'll have a tiny stroke and one of my eyes will close permanently. :)

  • I like the potatoes lol. Mash em or stick em in a stew :P

  • Spanish peanuts are an early Variety that apparently even I can grow here in VT, maybe I will try that, what the heck, right?

  • o.m.g. @ aloe plant (& pineapple)!

Maybe the beans would grow bigger if/when transplanted to a bigger pot. (?)

Peanuts??! My guess is that if anyone can do it, you can.

  • Your videos make me happy ;)

    Microbean lol

    -Jessica

  • YEAH! PEANUTS!!!!!

  • Tnjeffofalltrades, I got the idea for peanuts from your video. :)

In case anyone is reading this, Jeff grows peanuts like a madman!! He is Mr Peanut!

  • @Praxxus55712 - You're the madman if you follow anything I do :)

They do need a LONG growing season, but I can't wait to see what neat idea you come up with to work around that. Thanks for the kind words!!! -Jeff

  • I just buried part of my potatoes again but I've always wondered....should I bury the leaves with it. I did but I'm concerned about them rotting (like with the tomatoes). I was afraid to take them off because perhaps that where the potato comes from.

You could make a necklace out of that pygmy bean. Or car keys.

  • 1111atreides, I snip off the leaves before burying the stem, but if you didn't don't worry about it. Chances are good that it'll be fine. Taters form around the roots. The stem you have buried shoots out roots. More roots usually equates to more taters. A few buried leaves won't hurt it though. :)

  • Hey! I have been meaning to thank you for posting that TERRIFIC Spring Roll vid a while back. I have been practically living off them for weeks now. I Never get tired of them. I have even harassed the local grocery into keeping spring roll wrappers on the shelf now. Annie Phyo of Raw Foods has just posted a totally raw version with a collard leaf wrapper. Maybe you could check it out and let us know what you think? Also, have you completed your move yet? Did I somehow miss it? Thanks again.

  • Shelaughs, I'm still getting the house ready to list. A lot of painting to do. It should be listed by the middle or end of May. That's when I start house hunting too. It's gonna be fun! :)

ps: I think next spring I'm going to try growing collard and mustard greens. I heard they're delicious.

  • @Praxxus55712: House hunting? Why are you moving? I like your house. It has acres of land for gardening and raising animals. Besides, it's really quiet and peaceful out in the woods. Living off the land saves money and good for the environmnent.

  • OS253, Not moving to the city or anything. Just a bit south. I made a video about it called "The Big Surprise". It's gonna be fun!! :)

  • @shelaughs: Those spring rolls are awesome! They're so healthy and delicious. All the ingredients are fresh and raw. They're not cook. That's why it's called " Spring roll. It's name after Spring time. It's like a salad roll into a roll. My kids love them too. By the way, you should try Summer rolls. They're great too!

  • I love your videos, Ray, they are soo entertaining...you do grow the healthiest plants indoors..I grow mine under lights also but they just get so stringy and leggy..I had I bet an 8 ft long skinny tomato vine this past winter under lights and when I put them all outside they look like they are dying...how do u go about hardening off your plants? I just dont have much of a porch, no green house and frankly, no patience for dragging them in and out of the house every day..what is your secret?

  • Kokonutbaby1, I just grow my plants by my southern windows and sometimes use a couple 150watt compact flourescent bulbs.

To harden them off, I take them out and set them outside for awhile to harden them off, but I bring them in at night or they'll freeze. It sucks to have to do all that, but hopefully at my new house I'll have a mini greenhouse setup. (crosses fingers)

  • So potatoes have to grow eyes, then we just put them in the soil? Is that how it works? I never knew that.

  • Naomi, the eyes are where the roots and stem grow from. No eyes= no plant. I'll do a followup on the taters when it gets to be planting time next month, ok? They're gonna look like little round space aliens. :)

  • a Barbie bush bean. your stems are thick on your young plants for as small as they are-I haven't seen if you use growing lights or just sunlight indoors-but they look strong.

  • Zankhe43, The stems are thick because of the method that I use to grow them. I plant them at the bottom of the container and bury the stem as they grow. It causes them to form a more extensive root system. I also have some pretty cool south-facing windows. No special grow setup though............yet. I wanna build one at my new house when I move.

  • @Praxxus55712 -you're leaving your space? keeping the birds? I see you mentioned a video about it-I'll check it out.

  • His show and tell videos are always amazing and entertaining. He is hilarious and sweet. I'd rather watch him than Jay Leno. He makes gardening fun!

  • OS253, luckily my chin is a bit smaller than Lenos. lol

  • zOMG! Plants galore! I should do something like that. A show of all my plants. I got 2 pineapples that just sprouted roots and a few other things going on. My brussel sprout seedlings are doing great. I just need to get more cups for them. :) I got the same exact ones(blue). It just happened that the party cups are the same color as yours.

  • you should totally try to save some pods and see if you can grow more pygmy beans, oh, they probably would prefer to be called little beans... :) neat!

I'm jealous that your tomatoes love you so much to grow beautifully... mine hate me despite the fact that I dote upon them... haha... :(

  • That bean was so cute lol. Is that as big as it's gonna get??

  • Iloveinsegnamento, Yep. It's cute yet a bit disturbing that it's so itty-bitty. I'd eat it but it would be like eating a fetus (ick). I might just let it live out it's life in the window.

  • And OMG for the aloe plant!!!! Did you know that penuts will grow more penuts where the vine is burried. Maybe you could let the vine go in a few cups and make more penuts! ;)

  • Jihadacadien, yeah I'm gonna transplant the peanut plants into big containers to allow them to form the peanuts. I think I'll grow them the same way I grow the tomatoes. They're really cute plants too.

  • @Praxxus55712 Oh you could use like rubbermade tubs and let them vine and create more penuts ;)

  • Wow that was a lot of stuff! Wow that original pineapple looks great! I took the suckers that grow around my lilacs and plant them another place and they grow very easely.
