  • Eargasm.

  • Hey everybody! I have released my new album 'Progenitor' which is electronic music inspired by great games such as Chrono Trigger. You can check it out and download it for free on my youtube channel if you're interested!

  • i love this game ♥

  • Reminiscing isn't the word. I just love this game. I think it is one of the best I've ever seen!

  • CHRONO TRIGGER IS ON WII VC!!!! points. buy. now.

  • Arte.

  • AAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! CHILLLSS!!!!! :D

  • This makes me imagine a live action Epic base on Chrono trigger that is good!

  • i'll attack to imps with my sword nao

  • this music here does a number on your gumption

cranks that gumption all the way up

  • @dodgesxt I don't know if this was already said but both Trigger and the Dragon Ball series were created by Akira Toriyama.

  • @Roochfan20 saying Akira Toriyama CREATED Chrono Trigger is like saying Michelangelo CREATED the sistine chapel. his art certainly may have made it what it is but it takes more than 1 person to build a chapel or make a game. that said he did do the character designs in Chrono Trigger, Dragon Quest, Blue Dragon, and Dragon Ball which really is his own creation. There seems to be a noticable trend in dragons aside from Chrono Trigger, lol. Anyways we're here for the MUSIC, or i am in my case.

  • @Roochfan20 Yasunori Mitsuda did a majority of the music and i loved his work in Xenogears and Xenosaga episode I.... sadly with episode II they changed EVERYTHING.... i mean voice actors, character designs, gameplay, music.... it was a sad day. but Yasunori Mitsuda wasn't able to finish his work on chrono trigger, and it was finished by none other than Nobuo Uematsu...... almost every notable final fantasy anything you can think of was composed by him and i love his work very much

  • An amazing orchestration of the main theme to an amazing game.

  • Wow just amazing! I will pay to hear this live.

  • chrono trigger is where the heart is.

  • chrono trisser is where the heart is.

  • Square didn't let this go down because they knew their credibility was going to go down the tubes if they released their DS version after these guys released a badass version of this game. ONE DAY it will be made! I KNOW IT!

  • I played this game when it came out on the SNES, and now I'm aiming for 100% completion, monsters, items, and all level ☆ ☆ characters on the DS version. :D

  • @RaDeuX I every weapon, armor, and equippable, every ending, every bestiary entry, all level ** with every strength, magic, and speed stats maxed out for every character, and every single item... except for those GOD FORSAKEN MIRRORS! As far as I'm concerned, you don't need to touch the arena and i still counts. The arena SUCKS.

  • @CronoManiac42 Calamitousness? Haha! Bragging about your stuff.. Musta spent a lot of time on that game..

  • long live chrono trigger ...FUCK all those super over rated first person shooters these days...every week its like omg...yet another first person shooter...chrono trigger is where its at =)

  • @nintendofan133 even tho i played some i am so sick of them also.

  • @nintendofan133 the duke will shit down your neck for saying that, and then go listen to an orchestral version of his theme song, this theme song and other nostalgic games

  • @nintendofan133 - Thumbs up to that! I certainly hope that ONE day, before I die, that they will in fact make a true blue sequel to this game. I have the feeling people will be reminiscing about this game another 20 years from now. Id put money on it.

  • I downloaded a chrono trigger orchestrated version once that had a xylophone-sounding part at the end playing by itself, but i cant find it anymore, anyone know what it is?

  • You should change the description from "A cancelled fan remake" to "A Square sabotaged remake."

  • @Chidsuey heh... thats a good one

  • Jesus the beauty in this game is beyond words.....

My childhood would of been nothing without games like Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, Mystical Ninja, Zelda etc

  • @GrobycTheBionic My life would have been. Even without these games, I still have music. The problem is... life without THIS music and the amazing music from games like this... I couldn't even IMAGINE.

  • Chrono Trigger makes me remember happy moments in my life, when I was young and I thought I could eat the world.

  • @Nmuhanji

You do but the majority think they blow fat nuts.

  • I can't understand why the music from this game isn't more popular, I remember enjoying all of the sores a lot playing it.

  • @hornetpalooza some game analyst believe the game had so much hype ... because it centred around the idea "world was going to end"... a kind of Post-Modern Idea that was very much in theair... as much people believed the world was going to end in the year 2000. The game designers decided to create something that would be loved by everyone.. with lovable characters and great story line.. i dont think they believed it would stand the test of time though.. but it did

  • @mikhailstewart Well... Not sure I feel the music is tied down to any apocalyptic notions. Also, I haven't even thought about connecting 2000 with the game or any other world ending story from real life. It was just a cool game with really nice music to me.

  • @mikhailstewart "Wouldn't stand the test of time?" WTH?

If anything, I see it as a game where Square perfected the Time-Travelling mechanics, along with some epicly awesome music. If anything, it's just another great RPG from Square.

And the destruction of the world is a recurring thing in the Final Fantasy games- the heroes are always motivated by a Big Bad threatening to destroy the world (though in FFXIII, it was the heroes themselves who were marked as the destroyer of the world).

  • @arahman56 maybe what mikhail thought was the world was really going to end in 2000 lol

  • @arahman56 But only Final fantasy 6, do you actually see the world destroyed lol

  • @mewimi Of course in VII, Midgar is shown to be busted by Meteor, and in XIII, Cocoon is barely saved from it's imminent destruction, though it doesn't leave it in any better state.

  • @mewimi lol so true! when i played ff6 i was like OMG the world actually ended... wow

  • I hust beat the game today!

It's tied with the Mother series for my favorite RPG!

  • @Petalklunk Well, you better start a new game plus then. If this is your first time beating it, you still have about 10 endings to unlock.

  • I'm so glad the game was released again for Nintendo DS (with a few extra add-ons) ... I thought I'd never be able to play it again after giving away my Super Nintendo ... Now I can keep an easily accessible and convenient version of the game with me forever and ever ....

  • @RkFreedom

    Emulation.

  • YES! This arrangement is amazing!

  • best game ever !

  • hm... it's good, but it kinda sounds more like someone's HS band. audio's kinda flat. i had this as a .mp3 way back when, same problem.

  • @HelloiPWN Not really. You can always ask Gaspar, and there aren't too many places to visit in each time period.

  • Chrono Trigger is so incredibly difficult because you don't know where to go unless you memorize every single characters' names and everything they tell you to do since you can't ask what you're supposed to do next. It's actually really frustrating ._.

  • @HelloiPWN

When games didn't have a stupid map with a blinking dot pointing the next direction and a open world map. Good times

  • @HelloiPWN that's what i loved about CT, as well as older RPG's like ff6. it's the fact that these aren't linear that makes them unforgettable, when you're a kid you spend a lot of time figuring out where to go, and at least for me, i thoroughly enjoyed every second i played this game. from the deaths that would make me reload to the hours of walking around. it's what made it an unforgettable enjoyable awesome experience.

  • @AlwaysRi No, that made the game boring because you ended up getting a shitload of encounters and ended up "grinding" but not on purpose which made the game incredibly simple and boring.

  • @HelloiPWN Each to their own, I guess. ;p

  • are ppl still to this day discussing why chrono looks like dbz toons.......guess it goes to show the impact this game has!

  • Great song, great game.

  • @dodgesxt hmmm mybe because toryama did the artworks ;)

  • @dodgesxt the author of dragon ball made the pictures of chrono trigger's characters

  • Besides I have the soundtrack to trigger. 3 disks of classic music and this song is on the disk set I have

  • Chrono Trigger to me will always be better that Cross, simply because I like the multiple endings and granted, I'm in my mid 30's and I guess I just charish Trigger because I played it more than cross and Still to this day I play Trigger on my emulator. The storyline in trigger and even some of the dialog was not normal for a game at that time. Plus the frog speaking old english vs the translated crap for kids today on the DS or whatever.

  • @tharaven666

I was a bit shitty too that Frog doesn't speak old english in the DS version.

  • Kinda sounds like a marching band.

  • Trigger felt happy.

    Cross felt sad.

Trigger's plot is relatively simple and straightforward.

Cross's plot is rather complex and confusing if one doesn't pay attention.

  • im actualy playing Ccross right now, just beat the earth dragon about 3 hours ago!!!

  • If what I heard at around 1:45 was clarinets, they DESPERATELY need help tuning.

  • Akira Toriyama the guy that did the art for the Dragon Ball series also did the art for chronotrigger

  • Reminds you of dragonball because they character designed for chrono trigger was in fact Akira Toriyama the Creator of Dragon Ball series.

  • God, the chills.

  • Comment removed

  • Chronno Trigger DS ownz.

  • i no the ds is the beast

  • @DtoYtoLAN Original is better christ

  • @poepoe1122 nah

  • I realy like it that they stuck to the original 16bit SNES graphics instead of those bloody 3D chibi models

  • @henritje19 Its called chrono 64 of Chrono Ressurection, look it up

  • I know Square Enix pulled it down due to copyright infrigement theyd better work on t instead of FF14

  • @henritje19 I'm confused did you just say square was making this?! It was completely fanmade!

    Sincerely, Penis Wine

  • I know its fan-made but square took it down

  • @henritje19 sry, what are you talking about?

  • @RetroHunter06 Square Enix remade the unreleased Final Fantasy,s with 3D suped deformed models

  • P3T3

  • *u* Neeyyyyaaaahhh!!

  • Wait, seriously? so the layering's a little bit off in our opinion, and that makes this conductor and all of the parts of the band bad?

  • you know something. i dont like this. it doesnt have that....that....something. its like its missing something

  • This was played by people who don't play video games, nor understand the importance of the song they are playing. What we have here is a dry run, no more emotional than a midi file played through a decent sound font.

  • The drums are off... and in the beginning, the violins don't do that epic high note thing. And it's pretty quiet... not really that epic..

  • I couldn't agree more.

  • They tried to hard to make it better? Thats what i think, the brass section should have been louder than percussion, thats what i know

  • Guile was originally Magus. Unfortunately, they decided against that idea for the character, but decided to leave him looking uncannily like Magus, just to tease us.

And then we've got Lucca's Letter to Kid assuming that she's met Janus (Magus) already...

  • 若い頃の根気が蘇るわぁ!ww

This puts the old youngster inside me on fire once again lol

  • wow almost had the original orchestrated but then they added this calm nonsense to it. whatever, important thing is for them they had fun doign it and maken the money

  • kinda wish crono cross had more to do with crono trigger though...

  • Well, you can meet Marle, Lucca and Crono at the ending. :)

  • cross is a side quest of trigger xD

  • It had a very large connection with Chrono Trigger, the only problem is that the entire thing (which is about 1/3 of the story) is dumped on you in the last 5 minutes of the game by 3 NPCs standing there going "Oh and by the way..."

  • Thankfully I'm not the only one who feels that way.

That plot dump was idiotic. It made the other 55 hours you played into the game's plot seem pointless.

  • that's a little harsh man...

  • the best. my boy tried saying chrono cross was better w/ out even playing through trigger...graphics will fool anyone

  • Chrono Cross is pretty awesome too...how can you not love both? Such a great series

  • i cant stand cross' battle and leveling system.

  • Cross is alright, but it doesn't compete on any level with Chrono Trigger.

  • I thought they were both equally good in their own way.

  • They are both so different: Cross is a testament to the fact that Square are innovators in gameplay and story and music. I believe I've read that the reason they changed so drastically Cross was because they did not think it was possible to top Trigger. They have their separate, unique experiences.

  • totally true, i dont see any reason to compare, i LOVED BOTH and always will,

this is square at the very top of there game!!!

  • GOD you and like 3 other people think that. Thankfully i am one of those 3 other people. why does everyone hate chrono cross? That game was epiiiicccccc

  • chrono cross is beautifull. definetly one of my favourite games next to chrono trigger.. I ALMOST rank it higher =P

  • Yes, but they were mistaken. Radical Dreamers proved this. Originally Cross was going to be a total remake of Radical Dreamers, just with a lot of added content and action... but something... happened. And the plot became dissatisfying to die-hard trigger fans. Seriously, the lack of Magus was disturbing. Simply the fact that he wasn't the one to find Shala was a disgrace.

  • I find your lack of Magus disturbing

    C'mon, you were thinkin' it

  • They finally linked Magus into Chrono Cross from Trigger. There's an alternate ending from the Chrono Trigger DS version where Magus forgets his past after going through a time warp, but he "has to find something"... Pretty sure they made Magus become Guile.

  • @darknipple AT least i know i am not the Only one...

  • @darknipple Yes it does. Chrono cross was amazing.

  • @darknipple

very well the oldschool gamer's trophy game....

  • If Cross was its own game I mighta dug it more, but as a sequel it perturbed me.

Aside from plot, I thought the battle system was wonky. The %'s were tedious, and lack of EXP points made fighting pointless three matches in till the next boss fight. The element system was clever, but in practice it homogenized gameplay. Why wouldn't you use your best stuff first? Lack of Double Techs was also a disgrace.

Then they threw in summons, for no real reason. *sigh* They just needed to play CT again.

  • Cross was it's own game, the only thing claiming it to be a sequel was the back of the game box. Sure, it had references to the original game such as Glenn, but I just treated it like any Final Fantasy game with Cid. There were also double techs and triple techs in Cross, they were just a few characters that could use them.

I can understand if you don't like Cross because of it's battle system, as it's not for everyone. It definitely discourages traditional RPG methods of grinding.

  • Well, I think it's a stretch to say only the packaging suggested a strong follow-up to CT. Had the game been more accepted by the core of fans as a pure sequel, I doubt the developers woulda objected much, but I think even they knew how much they had strayed from formula.

I disliked Cross for way more reasons than battles, but what's sad to me is that concepts like the Dead Sea alone could have been the foundation to a great sequel, even with a new cast, but in Cross they were just shoved in.

  • SPOILERS BELOW!!!

and if you look past the fact that they meet chrono, lucca and marle and kid grew up in the orphanage at luccas home. and that lavos is the final boss of chrono cross. then yes.....chrono cross bears no connection to chrono trigger =P

  • MORE SPOILERS BELOW!!!

And Schala is the main character in the game, and the fact that Belhasar plays a very important role, and the fact that the reptites are there as the dragonites, and FATE was creating using Mother Brain, and even the fact that the whole El Nido Archipelago was created for the purpose of bringing Schala back...

    Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah, they have no connection...

  • Cross was a massive disappointment. The fact is that Square waited too long before making the sequal. The result was that the people who made the classic were not the ones who made Cross.

Cross was made by noobs. And it shows. And now they keep throwing these rehashes at us. Im not going to buy CT DS. I have the game on SNES. Why should I buy it again? They need to stop making crap like this and make the real third game.

  • Y'know, my theory is that Cross really was once it's own game, like a spiritual successor to CT with some borrowed ideas from Dreamers. But Square was money crunching for Spirits Within, so eventually they just HAD to stamp the Chrono name on it, which meant adding some new stuff, and having the writers tie-up the loose ends.

I mean, right before the last boss you read like 20 pages of text trying to explain why the fight is even important. That's like something an RPG Maker game would do!

  • Anyway, had they made a REAL sequal not too long (but also not too fast) after CT, it would have done real good for SE.

But they didnt and now the franchise eroded away. So sad. But I mean, come on, they have like different people working on the sequal. Of course, they would have different ideas about how the game will end up.

And the wall of text, is indeed a rush job. Obviously tying lose ends. Like Xenogears second CD which was massive wall o text.

  • They didn't wait too long. I think a lot of people, myself included, were perturbed by the lack of continuity in all aspects of game design from CT to CC.

It's easy enough to realize the difference in quality can be attributed to nothing less than CT being developed by a 'dream team' of some of the more influential game designers and animators of the time. CC was a different game entirely.

  • You can't say Chrono Trigger is in a different quality level in comparison with Chrono Cross.

Both games are different in design aspects, but saying Cross is worse because of that is almost a blasphemy. Actually, making a new engine, with Trigger-connected plots gives a new life to the series.

  • Sure I can, and I will. They are of different quality. It's as plain as day.

Also, blasphemy? Chrono Cross is not sacred.. to me.

Also, allow me to introduce you to the idea that new life is not necessarily GOOD life. Judging by the impact this game has had on the gaming community as a whole, along with the amount of years its been since Square saw any reason to make a third installment, it's clear that the series may have crashed and burned b/c of CC.

  • Well, opinion is different from facts.

Critics praised CC's complex plot, innovative battle system, varied characters, moving score, vibrant graphics, and success in breaking convention with its predecessor.

EGM gave Chrono Cross a Gold Award, scoring it 10/10/9.5 in their three reviewer format. GameSpot awarded the game a perfect 10, one of only seven games in the 40,000 games listed on Gamespot to have been given the score. IGN gave a 9.7. Famitsu rated 36/40. Game Rankings rates at 92%.

  • Varied characters? One of my biggest pet peeves about the game is there are too many characters to the extent that back story and development for each character is limited, by necessity and that we hardly get to know any of the characters as a result. This makes it more difficult to get into the story, IMO.

Critics are stupid. The plot of the game was poor. The battle system was tired from day one. Gamespot just sucks, jsyk. To clarify, the game is good but it's not great.

  • And, without Chrono Cross, the series would be buried and not seen the light of day for 15 years.

If a sequel with the same sistem of Trigger would come out, it would be more of the same, and might not bring interest to nowadays gamers.

  • No. The series might as well be dead and buried now. The only reason it isn't is b/c the first installment in the series was redrafted for the DS. That had nothing to do with Chrono Cross in any way. More of the same?

  • @RainMan34 It's ok. But I'd rather have Cross than don't have it. It's a good game nonetheless. Trigger might be better overall, but not by far.

I don't see what is poor on the plot (some characters could be better developed though) and the battle system is very strategic, as much as Trigger's.

  • @br3compactor Trigger might be better overall, but not by far? comparing Trigger to cross is like comparing chocolate to shit. Cross was the a horrible game. Also, it doesn't matter what the reviews are from companies like IGN because ultimately, it comes down to us consumers to either make a game a success or a failure, not IGN. Also, it hasn't even been 15 years since the time of release between trigger and cross so back then, the battle system wouldn't have changed much like it has today.

  • well, even though the DS version is just a re-release of the original game, it still has some new content that makes it worthwhile in my opinion :/

  • the fact that they are selling chrono trigger hopefully means that they still have the chrono franchise in mind..

  • Actually there are double and even triple techs, however very few....

One thing I liked was that Glenn and Serge could do the X-strick from CT, that at least made me a little happy.

  • Truly timeless...anyone who disagrees will have Crono take them back to 1995 to actually play this game and fix the future so they'll change their minds lol

  • agree

  • 1:22 - 1:50

    Freaking beautiful. ;)

  • are there more sections to this concert ??

  • wow, this is insane...

I wish i couldve seen it

  • Chrono trigger along with Half life 1 and 2 will be FOREVER in my heart!

that along with epic music that gives you deep emotions... makes the games.. timeless!

  • Man I love this game, I only hope they didn't change anything in the ds version. I played my friend's FF4 on D.S. And the game was killed by a bunch of extra abilities that were wholly unneccisarry

  • Brings a tear to my eye. ;)

  • Same. I practically cried at certain parts.

  • You took the words right out of my mouth....

  • Same here.

  • If u have all played this game, U will know why a game cannot be made up of just graphics, I too would have loved for this remake to come out, But i would rather have an amplified Gaming system instead of nice graphics (There are enough games with nice graphics and crap Gameplay, This game needs to be Awesome Gameplay with minor to awesome graphics)

Graphics do NOT make a game.

  • Amen.

  • i allways thought that Chrono Trigger's gaming system was the best thing in the game

  • well if you think about it, Chrono Trigger, when first released in 1995, had awesome gameplay, music, and graphics. So Chrono Trigger should be ranked as one of the best games ever.

  • Should be? It is :) I think it was ranked as the eighth best game every by gamespot.

  • I couldn't agree with you more.

  • I agree 100%. Gameplay is 100 times more important than graphics. But at the same time good graphics are nice too. But I'm not gonna go buy Halo 3 just to look at the pretty graphics :P

  • Pretty much. Gameplay makes the game as graphics are only a bonus. Technically, graphics are what you see on the screen, but I don't care how good they are unless I have a good time playing it.

  • And Chrono Trigger had the best of its time anyway (4th generation).

  • just hearing this song makes me feel like playing CT again! why don't they make any good rpg's like this anymore?

  • totally agree

  • it started as a labor of love of the ff2 programmers/composers

  • Too bad the project was cancelled. Would love to see Chrono Trigger in a 3d environment some day!

  • Why did Squaresoft have to be such bitches for man? they practically killed and ended Chrono Resurrection.

  • Agree, Squaresoft are a bunch of bastards, they have such great franchises that deserve comebacks, in the form of remakes, such as Chrono Trigger and Front Mission. And yet they insist on just making Final Fantasy games.

  • i TOTALLY agree Corleonetone : )

  • id have gotten it. so would everyone who ever played the game and loved it, which was just about everyone who ever played the game. and a new generation's legions of game players. cause it was one of the greatest games ever.

    dumbasses...

  • Seeing as how this could've been ridiculously successful and all the work was practically done for them, you'd think Square-Enix would offer to buy the project or take it over instead of issuing a "Cease and Desist" order and giving the guys the metaphorical finger.

The old, lovable Square we once knew is gone. They've gone the way of the gaming industry and turned into Square-Enix: corporate jerkasses who focus on money more than what the fans want.

  • bravo xBradums

  • Where... Where did you find such a wonderful picture?

  • Chrono Resurrection, a now dead fan remake :(

  • just watched a couple videos of some orchestras in the US from around the country trying to play this. Tokyo really does sound much better. just a lot more polished.

  • They really should have left the Chrono Resurrection alone.

How great would that have been?

  • God damn, the music is pure win. I feel like playing this game right now(thank goodness for emulators)

  • Ever hear of google?????

  • wow i forgot how good chronos music was!!!!

  • holy crap I think i played CT over 50,000 times and still wanna play it again

what's your record for finishing it? mine is 16 hrs (I think)

  • 5 min lol

  • let me guess... by hitting the green lavos gate at the tele-pods...

I mean doing the story from start to finish record time

  • damn 16 hours I dont see how that is possible I have played this game through many times and could only accomplish maybe a 25-30 hour game..but yea what a wonderful and amazing game it is anyway.

  • If you read the description...
