  • I was just at my Friends milking Farm on PEI (Prince Edward Island) and he had one of these it was so cool to watch and the cows didn't mind one bit, plus it free up my friends time so we could hang out longer, Never saw one of the these till today. Pretty impressive.

  • "HOW ARE YOU GOING TO MILK YOUR COWS IN FIVE YEARS"

    bwahahahaha....

  • Cows know when to be milked because they get full and uncomfortable. The chips in their ears (or wherever) keep track of what they're fed and what supplements they get in a day, but they go to get milked because they feel full. Talk to a women who nurses and ask her how she feels if her baby sleeps too long. It's uncomfortable.

  • How much? hello buddist

  • how do they know where to go when they want to be milked?

  • @LadyDiamond33 From what I understand they have to go into the stalls to get their grain, which isn't uncommon practice anyways.

  • the statement of robotic milking being less hygienic couldnt possibly be further from the truth. in dairy equipment service, i watch mexicans and 15 year old kids late for a date rush through milking, skipping prep and pre or post dipping. this robot doesnt skip things

  • Volontary in this case means that the cow her self decides when she wants to be milked. They actually stand in line (all by them selves mind you) to be milked by the machine. The machine is made for free range cows and he cell counter monitors the health of each cow.

  • My Total friend, the cow decides... that is what the cunning salesmen lie to you! They must have an electronic permit ,otherwise the gates remain closed. That much of "voluntary " it is!But I totally agree with you about the cell counter:perfectly optimized in its box, nice fine mechanics for heavy duty!Nice design but accuracy is poor! But I agree more with ronny ,ban robotic milking from the US!

  • Dear webcom, please tell me why conventional milking of theathered animals would be better?

  • Dear Total,I can`t answer your question for the simple reason that I am not in any way connected with the industry.Put this question to those who push to 3-4 times the normal yield, those who turn the cow into a milk machine.I `m milk a consumer and I like new technology but I don`t like what I see!And the hygiene in such a complex machine CAN NOT be satisfactory ...mastitis and bacteria is reported much much higher!

  • Indeed, and go milk by hand. Way to go US ...

  • @ronnybrad

    you are retarted

  • that is cool

  • So, cows will enter when they want to be milked... e?

  • The contacts increases. The farmer has more time on his hands to deal with issues regarding health, genetics, feed-tables and much more. If a cow only have 3 udders milkable the farmer tell the on-board management system and the robot skips that udder quarter. Please, do not be against it, the healt of the udders are way better than in conventional milking systems. Delaval´s robot comes with a patented option that handles cow traffic with gates. Upside are no manual fetching of cows!

  • I think that is qualified BS from DL -Marketing Department!Take that laser beam away first!

  • Where is the contact beetwen the farmer and his cattle? And if there is a particular ( for exemple only 3 udders give milk) how the machine will do that?

    I'm against that!

  • u r against cuz u don't know the system at all. of course the robot knows what is going on in all quarters and reacts on that.

  • i love these machines, i dont use them i install them. we have over 20 installed in the area and putting more in every day! very handy machines.

  • i dont know y everyones goin off about it. ive lived on a dairy all my life n at 17 im still lovin it!

i think these robotic dairys are a great advance in dairy technology, but will never replace manual milking.

  • First of all, the machine costs over $200,000 so don't think that every farmer's lives will be so improved. They are also not as reliable as one would think, and they require you to have a manual parlor back up system. I know of one very, VERY specific farm with two of these machines and they have quit using them and milking in their parlor... $600,000 sitting not being used...

2.) One $200,000+ machine can handle approx 80 cows... So this machine will not do a single thing to the cost of milk

  • They must not have been Delaval. I know of quite a few farms with the VMS and they all love them. I am aware of 2 farms that had Lely and took them out. One now has a VMS the other uses a standard parlor.

  • so now what happens if a cow kicks it off?

  • It will reattach it.

  • yes it will

  • incredible, almost makes me want to milk cows again. lol. Barry

  • If every milking farm has this machine, we can see a dramatic fall of the cost of milk.

  • At the same cost of a very expensive tractor, PER-UNIT, or STALL????? i doubt it....

  • Wow, that is awesome! Some of the posters have no idea what they are talking about...automatic milkers WILL VASTLY IMPROVE the lives of humans!

From the age of 12 till I escaped to my first vacation (U.S. Navy boot camp) I spent a minimum of 6 hours every day feeding/milking cows. And that doesn't count the thousands of hours per year raising the feeds!

You have no idea how automatic milkers will change life for kids unlucky enough to be raised on a a dairy farm.

  • What the fuck. It's a fucking cow, guys. How about you spend money on improving PEOPLE's living conditions.

  • Cool music it sounds kinda like one of the songs in GTA vice city, and I saw a fully automatic setup kinda like this on the tv show how its made and the cows basically just walk in when they feel like it and the robots clean the the udders and then put the sucker things on the udders and they test the milk for blood traces and they are milked and when they are done they r let out it was really cool

  • yall have an awsome set up. wish you were near where i live i'd love to work there.

  • They are being installed all over the world

  • They're not really slow, if you figure on averagecows are in any size parlor for 10 mins, and a cow is generally in and out of a VMS within 10 mins.

  • So, a cow is basically a milk station.

  • I'm impressed specially about the way the teats are cleaned. Congratulation DeLaval.

  • Cool way of milking cows great movie

  • Greatest cow frienlyway of milking on earth.

    Free the milkers.

  • pretty cool. It's good to see a system with that much automation that also treats the animals very well and monitor their health.

  • How much of my money would you be wanting for one of these

  • $130,000 (£64,560) per robot - one robot milks 50 cows. So, a lot!

  • I actually thought they would be a lot more expensive. And it is not possible to run one without a source of three-phase power, I'd imagine.

  • Delavals manage up to 70

  • they work very good.. My cousin works on a farm and they have one.. it may be a little slow but you dont have to stay by it all day!! Great video
