Awesome collection of images, quotes and the music from the view of the new beauty in drydock, from The Motion Picture, will always evoke powerful emotions in me. Just as Kirk's eyes came upon his 'lost love' , so do I with this grand lady of the stars.....
I served on CVN65 and though the CV6 Enterprise is correct I know for certain that that CVN65 does not appear in this video. I know what my home looked like. Other than this historic inaccuracy this was a stunning tribute.
I've herd a Rumor that the Next big SuperCarrier the US builds, wich is set to begin construction not long after the current Enterprise is Decomissioned, will carry on the name.
I hope so, It'd be a neat naval tradition.
"There are still plenty of letters in the alphabet."
The WWII Enterprise was the most decorated ship in the USN's history. For that reason alone the name needs to be continued. Heroes shouldn't be forgotten.
Beyond even the one ship, the name Enterprise is a cultural icon. It really says something when the first space shuttle is named after a vessel that doesn't even exist (it was named after the starship, wich in turn was named for the Carrier).
Me personally, I love pretty much all ships with the name Enterprise. It seems as though the name is destined for greatness no matter whatever carries it.
thats a 5/5 for sure.but i agree with he shuttle enterprise. All others are still using late 1970's computer parts. and the Enterprise Could have been fitted with todays. and save weight and go much better than it did b4 .I wish that too who knows maybe put skies on it to land on the moon? using a different trust set up. But no its just going to sit in a hanger. TBH that sux. :(
haha as good as the ending of Enterprise was i always felt it was missing something. I knew you could fit all the Enterprises in that speech and make it look decent. Not just the 3 that were shown at the end of that episode. Good job
It is "The Enterprise" from "Star Trek: The Motion Picture" in a recording by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and conductor Jerry Goldsmith from a CD called "Frontiers". Thanks for uploading.
yeah but you didn't treat the refit Enterprise and Enterprise A as seperate ships There's almost no footage of the original refit or even the TOS version. Like your not seperating them as ships, but by the Captains that commanded them. And get that Defiant clip out of there. Use the remastered version of TOS. nah man its good, I'm just whining
hi great vid, just to let you know, and you picked a gd theme music too. think, it would of been could to get some sayings about the enterprise that capt picard did at the start, as some sort of back ground, to go with the music.
I teared up watching this.

@TypeRCsl the Enterprise B was an excelsior class starship... they're different ships with the same design

@techie41789 Yes. And the Enterprise B was a totally different ship variant than the Excelsior prototype.
KJOSCOT 10 months ago
@techie41789 Well, yes and no. Enterprise B IS an Excelsior class starship, but it was a modified Excelisor class at that!

By the time Columbia was launched in 1981 Enterprise was already outdated. They figured it would be cheaper to build a new one then to refit her.

At the end of WWII Admiral of the Fleet Chester Nimitz sent a signal to all ships and stations of the USN: "Well done."
To all the Big E's and their crews, past, present and future -- well done.
