You can't go wrong with this amp, I have one, love it. I like the 12Ay7's for headroom, a fulltone fulldrive 2 mosfet with strat through this amp will blow your mind.

It takes pedals very well. I've been using Fulltone OCD, Fulldrive 2, Aboveground FX El Griton, and Creation audio labs holy fire on my board with great results. Very crisp, clean tones!

how much do these amps cost?

I got mine from Netherlands nearly two years ago and it cost me about 1200EUR.

But for the U.S., If I remember correctly their SRP was $1440 when the GuitarPlayer magazine reviewed one.

If you're planning to buy one and can afford some more, get a Celestion Gold alnico as well.

If you like it with its stock spkr, then with the Gold you'll wonder why BadCat don't put it as a standard in this model.

It's supposed to be 20watts in class A cathode bias, but I 've replaced the preamp 12AY7 with a G.E. 12AX7 to add a little bite more..

It's my main amp for blues gigs, I never had a problem with it and never turned it over 12 o'clock.

In fact I mostly use it through its low input...

More than enough, though I must say that I changed the stock nso G.E. 12AY7 with a Sylvania 7025 so it gets dirty earlier than it's supposed to be, but I like it better this way...
