Love this it is the second best after Leslie Howard. Does anyone know where I can get the english version of the rest of these on Youtube? They have them I believe in Spanish but I had at one time found the second now I cannot find it. HELP! Thank you so much keep up loading love it!
"Marrage ane't a word it's a sentence" I absolutely love this!!!!!!!
I like Richard E Grant as Sir Percy, brings something new to the role though no one does Sir Percy better then Anthony Andrews. Richard E. Grant does the heroic Scarlet Pimpernel well, but his fopish Percy needs some major work.
With her hair short, she looks like Liv Tyler. I really wish this had had better writers. Then, trying to re-envision a classic would have been more like BBC's "Sherlock." It could have worked. This didn't. Sadness.
Richard gave a deeper edge to his character totally believable as the layman or the Pimpernel, whereas Anthony Andrews mocked himself either as a fop or in seriousness, and well what can you say about Jane Seymour? Always the lousy actress! Elizabeth wins hands down, and the love hate chemistry between her & Percy is great to watch. Someone mentioned her short hair, yes she does seems more vulnerable that way & the nuances in her voice shows depths of emotion - Jane is cartoonish in comparison!
I am anxious to see epidsodes 4-6 but A and E hasnt realsed them to dvd...why? or have they? does anyone know or if they can found from some other source?
Anthony Andrews is my personal favorite, but Richard Grant is pretty ok. no one takes to the role as well as Leslie Howard though! I love the Scarlet Pimpernel!
I actually think I prefer Richard E. Grant. I think Anthony Andrews seems to overplay the fop, to the point that he's too ridiculous to believe no one could see through it. Richard Grant's fop seems a genuine fool.
"I've seen this Revolution turn into a holocaust!" Marguerite said holocaust not Holocaust. When it is in lower case it means any mass slaughter or reckless destruction of life. Only when it is in upper case dose it mean the systematic mass slaughter of European Jews in Nazi concentration camps during World War II.
The word has become synonymous with the Jewish atrocity, but you're wrong. Totality of destruction has been central to the meaning of holocaust since it first appeared in Middle English in the 14th century.
i don't know who you are but you express my sentiments exactly! good show! by the bye, have you read any of the baroness's books as well? i would assume so based on your comment but it's always nice to meet someone who knows the original work. :D although i must say, it has taken me a while to get used to these actors. at first they seemed to not fit the parts at all, but i have warmed up to them.
I agree with you! Their great books to read. I love how Richard E. Grant, plays Percy, but MY Scarlet Pimpernel will always be Antony Andrews. I love his facial expressions!
I totally agree. Grant's Percy is different and he brings a more rougish charm to the role of Percy; but Leslie Howard will always be THE Scarlet Pimpernel.
series two is on sale in poundland in the uk for £1.

who was the guy who murdered Minette Roland at the end?

The guy who plays Robespierre is wonderfully snooty. Well done!

Nobody could have played that role better than Richard E Grant!
Thank you!

"I've seen this Revolution turn into a Holocaust" - How in heaven's name is that possible? The Holocaust happened somewhat 150 years later!

The first man who used the word "holocaust" was Ellie Wiesel in the 20th Century, so Margueritte couldn´t use it.

oh, thank you, I didn´t know it, but we´re learning through our live:))

It comes the ancient Greek word holocaustos. So it is from way before the 20th century.
A holocaust is a religious animal sacrifice that is completely consumed by fire.
The Holocaust refers to the massacre of Jews during World War II

Whatever happened to the Pimpernel's famous disguises!!??? AND WHY DID SIR ANTHONY DIE!!??!! oh for shame!
Loving Martin Shaw though, and all Sir Percy's little picks and such.
Would recommend you see the 1982 version with Anthony Andrews and Jane Seymour - that's the best one! Though Leslie Howard is delightfully amusing.

I have indeed read many of the original books! They aren't exactly great works of literature, but they're jolly good fun!
Richard E Grant is a great actor, but he'll never be MY Scarlet Pimpernel!

finally some one who agrees with me, thank you.
there is nothing wrong with grant's percy, he is great. but leslie was the first screen pimpernel and (in my humble opinion) is the best.

Anthony Andrews was pretty good too! Leslie has the drawl absolutely perfect, but Anthony has the best look.
