  • Good video man! Very simple to use!

  • true bypass??

  • Where would one put this in their effects chain?

  • How is it with Metal solos?

  • @AndreeTheGuitarist I'm guessing it would be perfect for that, considering that's pretty much what boost pedals are designed for lol

  • does the Blue Box also work at sort of a boost?

  • @MrManson94 Not at all, the Blue Box adds fuzz to your signal, and duplicates it two octaves down. I would not recommend it as a boost.

  • @MrManson94 Not att all m8, it's a combo between a fuzz and octave pedal.

    Hope it helped

    //Mike

  • I wish someone would play this through a Marshall master volume.

  • I mite buy one..

  • Well THERE you have it.

  • One of the things that I use it for that nobody mentions - I use it to boost the signal when recording into a computer. plug the guitar cable into a 1/4" to a 1/8"(pick it up at radioshack for 3 bucks), open sound recorder on windows, turn on the pedal. and you're good to go. its good if you have an idea or a rhythm you want to record quickly.

  • @MrStratguy1 You use it as an amp haha i do that with a pedal but its a different one by MXR

  • They don't mention - and I thought they would - if you use compression to help your flanger or chorus sound better, then the micro-amp works great to get your signal out and up above the traffic during a solo break where your compression stays on...

    make sense..?

  • "effective" haha I have watched way to many of these

  • this guys a clown! i'm sure hes a great guy, but why does he bug the hell out of me?! its nice to have demos though!

  • this guys a clown! i'm sure hes a great guy, but why does he bug the hell out of me?! its nice to have domos though!

  • Is this guy Brian Kehoe? From Les Claypool's Electric Apricot?

  • I'm sure this fella is probably one hell of a nice guy, I just don't care for him as a demo guy. Maybe I'm spoiled by the Gearmandude or something.

  • can a boost fuck up your tube amp lol im worried

  • @TheSchoolsux345 I've never had a problem on loud volumes with the MicroAmp turned all the way, sounds wicked and preserves you signal all the way, the low-end really thumps.

  • he didn't made it to ZZ top...

  • can I use this for a slight overdrive? or a clean boost? I'm looking for a sound like the solo in this video 2:53 watch?v=4bgYT121Efw

  • what was that first riff? it sounds familiar

  • @exercutionernickster La Grange =)

  • they need to have andy mckee be the testers for these demos =)

  • Why not just turn the amp up louder?

  • @999manman Because you don't have time to do that when you're in the middle of a song, especially if you're playing a gig.

  • @999manman Because turning up the volume is nothing like overdriving the front plate voltage of the preamp which effects dynamics and creates more distortion.

  • @bigfish0886 I see! Thanks for the info!!!

  • @bigfish0886 .....and,if you're performing live, are you going to want to have to stop mid song to go turn your amp up?

  • I love this thing XD

  • this pedal is as simple as it gets, and so are these reviews.

  • I use an EQ pedal to to this job - it can be used to add overall gain, and also to voice the boosted signal by boosting/cutting frequencies... My dirty channel loves it

  • He grew that beard just so he could play ZZ Top-esque riffs such as these.

  • sooooooooooooo there you have it!!!!!!

    lol!!!!!!

  • Sounds like a handy little pedal

  • Man I've always hated this fucken guy

  • how many db of boost?

  • @stul9045 More than enough, trust me. I have boosted a clean amp to full-out distortion with this thing.

  • should i get this or the electro harmonix signal pad attenuator? because the signal pad doesnt need a power suply i could leave it on all the time and switch it off for solos. im running through a bugera 1960 which has no master volume or gain knob

  • is it good for bass?

  • @sidheswar100 yeah i think so, it boosts your signal so theres nowhere for anything to go wrong

  • I love how MXR pedals have amazing tone, plus they are in TECHNICOLOR, too!

  • I love how easy it is to dial in great sounds on MXR pedals, not to mention that they are a great size for any pedalboard. The Micro Amp is no exception to both of those categories, too.

  • ZZ TOP!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • on knob for 100 bucks.

  • some settings to reach a boosted sound like that please...I know it will never be the same, but more or less....thanks a lot

  • @thedeadliest I put it after my overdrive and distortion pedals.

  • @michaelkim119 thanks a lot, but I meant settings for my amp...I think I should use the overdrive channel with no lows, a lot of treble and a little bit of mids....what about you?

    Thanks

  • cool vids. Just one thing. Recommend where we should place them in the pedal chain. Just a referenence. Rock on

  • Learn Guitar Eddie Van Halen Flanger review & effects tips

  • i must know amp was used here!!!!!!!!

  • Ok maybe another stupid question.... But what does this do with a solid state amp? I have a Marshall 100hdfx and am looking to get a little more punch from my strat... Anyone?

  • @PhantomCover it will do the same thing. but it will sound like crap on the clean channel... it will give you a bit more of the amps distortion... a word of advice though (and i'm not being a snob i swear) get a tube amp and you will like it alot more. :)

  • @Acidrain1993 Yeah thats basically all I have heard and read is to get a tubed amp. I bought my MG100hdfx before I really knew anything about what was good or not. :\ Although it does sound pretty decent, its just more loud than anything. I kind of wish I would have waited.

  • @PhantomCover Made the same mistake, but luckily I sold it along with a VOX 4x12 and got myself a Laney L5H :D

  • nice sound i could use this any one know how much it goes for?

  • @thatcoolG no more than 70 $

  • very good

  • How about some hard rock demos?

  • Where in the signal chain do you recommend putting this pedal? Thanks

  • I used to put mine anywhere in the chain, but usually ahead or after my distortion box ahead it would drive the distortion more and give you a really heavy metal sound with long sustain but usually i just used it for a clean sound or to boost a lead. In the mxr line, if i remember correctly you could put your pedals anywhere you desire as long as you keep the dyna-comp (another cool MXR device) as your last box before the amplifier as the dyna comp is a compressor-sustainer.

  • Great. Thanks a lot

  • @TheFitzaFrenicRock i'd put it at the end.

  • fx loop

  • @agitatedbells It should go in front of your amp cus it pushes the pre-amp section

  • @theShowStopper321 nah.. its shit as that. get an overdrive for that... shove it in the fx loop it gives you a clean volume boost. theres no rules to say it has to be used one way or the other of course

  • @agitatedbells Thanks. Will it give more bite in the FX loop as well?

  • This pushes the preamp section,if your amp volume only goes to 10 this will give you 15-20,if you only keep your amp at 2-3 and max the micro, you will get a good clean sound but loud, if you max your amp and yhe micro you will get mid sixties Kinks style overdrive, but it will be very loud. This pedal is a must for a serious guitarist.

  • This pushes the preamp section,if your amp volume only goes to 10 this will give you 15-20

  • does this push the power amp section or pre-amp section?

  • why is the bypass dirty?i want to hear how the pedal sounds

  • this pedal doesen't "sounds" it just boost the db

if you have weak pickups, kick it in

if you have a weak overdrive sound like in the video, kick it in and you hear the difference

  • would it blow out ur amp

  • no, but add dynamics to a tube amp for example

  • Can this pedal be used for a bass guitar in order to boost it??

  • yes what is the different with MC401 ??

  • rockin the beard brah!

  • ROFL i love this guy

  • I was just starting to think this was was shaved billy gibbons gone metal and he starts to play la grange jaja... that confirms it

  • lol

  • @rodrigozamo and the fact that he's playing a les paul the whole time

  • @kess924 almost, cuz billy is more known for his signature gretsch and the tele, but can be a slight throw off

  • @rodrigozamo yeah i knew about his gretsches. forgot about his teles though

  • @rodrigozamo oh yeah i kinda forgot about his teles. i knew he had the gretsches though (gretsches are kinda my favorite). but billy still has his pearly gates les paul

  • MXR has great videos, and this one is good, but does it really take two minuets to say "this is a signal booster"?

  • Well said! Very funny!

  • Whats the difference between this and the mc401???

  • should i run this through the effects loop, or the inputs?

  • Nice work mate, like your humour. I do have one of these pedals. Should it go between the amp and guitar or should it be in the effects loop. Any help appreciated, thanks

  • before the amp

  • nice pedal :)
