ever since i was three and the first time i went to disneyland, i <3 this ride! ALL TIME FAVORITE! theres not a classic as good as it's a small world. It irritates me whenever people are like it's a small world is slow and retarded, it's annoying cuz the song repeats. A ride doesn't need to be an adrenaline rush type of ride to be a good one, this ride is about peace in the world through a kid's point of view, and i find that beautiful! I AM 12 AND NOT ASHAMED TO ADMIT THAT I LOVE THIS RIDE! ;)

actually disneyland never shuts down their rides unless they have a problem with the ride and need to fix it. otherwise they just turn the music to the ride down low so that no one can hear it. they never turn the ride off

When they "remixed" the music for the update, it seems like it lost a lot of it's charm. Others (with experience in the field) have remarked about the "loss of charm". It bothers me now but I guess it's no big deal for people that don't notice it. It's a great ride.

I never saw the original, because every time I went before the update it was december and they had the holiday theme. I rode this version in February of this year and half way through I started noticing the disney characters, so I had to ride it again to see all of them! I got on at 11:57 pm that night to ride. I was one of the last people in the park, only one other group rode with us and they were on the boat behind us.

I understand your concern.

I believe they try to keep 95% of the things the way Walt did it. The constant day- to- day movement of the dolls caused outfits to wear and fade. The older rides and attractions of Walt's golden era get, the more repairs are going to be needed. With each rapair, they also try to upgrade mechanics to make movements smoother and more life-like. With the additions of new characters, it makes the ride seem like the first time for ones who have ridden for years.

I wonder what could be next. Disney World's and Tokyo Disneyland's version closed for a year for putting in Disney Characters, taking off the Amazon Rainforest into the South Seas room for North America, and relocating the Scandinavia scene at the left of the France scene for a North Pole scene. While Disneyland Paris closed for a little while for just adding Disney Characters. While Hong Kong Disneyland closed for weekend or 5 days just for adding a little more Disney Characters.

Ya but they cleaned everything up and re did there robot insides with up to date gears and functions and giving them new hair and the same cloths but with new materials and redid the whole water canel and gave the ride a modern look by adding the great america scene and the disney characters we all know and love, peter pan, tinker bell, cinderella, alice, white rabbit, pinochio, mulan, little mermaid, finding nemo, and toy story!!!

What made rides such as El Rio de Tiempo so unique was that they have no Disney characters in them. To me it doesn't look exactly New in design. It looks like a towned down version of the Hong Kong Its a Small World. The same layout of areas and the Disney characters. Only thing is Hong Kong's has more projection effects and a different finallee

I don't see any harm in adding the Disney characters. Some of the people who complain the most about updating the attractions are in complete contridiction with Walt's vision. Walt Disney was always changing his creations. Always looking to keep the attractions fresh. Most of the complainers would gripe if one of the Jungle Cruise gorillas parted his hair differently.
