Hey, bufferkid do you know how to play music, photos, or videos from a usb when you connceted to the back of the blu-ray, because when I put the usb on the back of the blu-ray player, the EXT logo appears on the right display side of HDMI, but when I click on it just says something about EXT disconncet.
@hdna12 I'm not sure if this model has that function as I only use it for Blu-ray Disc playback. As far as I know it has the capability the accept External Hard Drive as a form of storage for BD Live. EXT displayed means it has detected your external storage medium. I hope this was helpful and thanks for your question. :)
Hi. Very useful review for consumers who are eyeing this product. Im concerned with the region though. Is this S360 region-free? i have region 1 and 3 dvds so i need a bluray player that can play those.
@antimatterutube I went ahead and took my player out to clean it and see what its DVD Region Code. Unfortunately this player only supports Region 1 DVD's but there might be other high dollar players that will play all DVD's. Thanks for the question and I hope that it was helpful information.
@bufferkid I have just brought the BDP-S550 last week and I’m pleased with its performance with regionB and regionFree as well as region2DVD. The player is set-up in complex way on my home cinema set-up, I’d have to make video. I use the 8channel decoder on an old AVR that has Dolbydigital dts with 6channel so how did I get it to run in Dolby8channel?
can you also stream your movie libary as I can with my PS3. i am using Tversity to stream my movies from my PC to my PS3, so can i do this also with the S260?
No it does not stream video. That function is available in the certain model Sony Blu-ray players. Mine does have this function. Thanks for watching my video and the comment. :)
Craaap...do you have to have a receiver to play Blu Ray discs? I just bought a BDP S360 , 2 Bluray discs, and a Monster HDMI Cable. I can't afford an HD Receiver! I'm asking because I don't know yet since my Bluray player isn't at my house yet. *Amazon*
Also, so I know, how will I set my picture? I have a 720p television. Which one should I choose when I set the player up for the first time?
HI Ben, This Blu-ray player has built in decoders you don't need to get a receiver right away. Since your sing HDMI. When you first power up the player. It will guide you through the set up, asking you what type of cable your using. It will then detect what's the highest in HD your TV supports. I suggest watching the unboxing video of this player. I will send you the video. It explains everything about the setting up player.
Hi, Thank you for your help, but I have another question....I just received it today and don't know if it is okay to watch (Regular) DVDs on the BDP S360 without the current firmware update....can you help? Thanks!
The Firmware is for the players internal software and other app likes its memory and playback of Blu-ray disc and BD Live. You don't need to worry about the firmware on DVD playback. But it is recommended to keep the firmware up to date for new Blu-rays that come out. Is you player connected to your home network?
No, I actually don't have a modem or anything like that in my room. But I am getting help downloading and burning the update on a disk right now. So, after that, I shouldn't need to worry. Thank you!
Yes it is, it actually has a feature that corrects bent or scratched Blu-ray disc and DVD's buring playback. It only worked on one of mine scratched DVD's. Overall a great player and comment. :)
Ethernet cable connected to my router/modem. It updates the systems firmware and enables BD-Live. The only difference between the PS3 and a Blu-ray player is the PS3 has a built in Hard Drive while you have to use a USB Flash Drive on the player. :)
Have you had any trouble with this player, because I saw all of reviews from Best Buy some said that when you press PAUSE and press PLAY it freezes, have you had that problem with this player?
I haven't had any problems yet with my player. Yes it plays burn DVD's and CD's. I tried it out with a couple back up DVD movies and DVD's of my own videos that I burned on my computer. :)

How does it take to update is it the same as the Playstation 3?
Do you have to connect a internet cable if your using the BD-LIVE on the Sony bdp S-360?
